whats peoples thoughts on Jackson Martinez, 37 goals in 80 appearances for a club in mexico and 33 in 38 for porto.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not a match for Lukaku. Seen him play in a few games at Porto. Not what you expect.

On word. Excellent player. Indeed excellent

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a brilliant finisher, the only concern of mine is how complete a player he is. we saw with this with ba, his time at chelsea has shown the limits of his hold-up play and I worry that martinez would have the same problem. that being said if lewan, falcao and cavani go elsewhere I wouldn't mind chelsea placing an offer for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt he about to sign for Monaco?

You can stop asking if we are getting neymar, like I said last season ago when he signed a pre contract with barca.
Cavani, not coming, falcao, not coming, ronaldo maybe

Hi, ed thanks for your constant update on transfer news. as it looks like in uefa super cup it will be pep vs mourinho again. so I just want to ask you that can you see schurle & cavani will playing that match in chelsea shirt?thnks in advance {Ed018's Note - Schurrle yes, Cavani I don't know}

What German internationals are Chelsea interested in?
FP {Ed018's Note - Schurrle and Khedira are all I know of. Reus was looked at but was told he was not for sale}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And Ed018, would you think he'd be a good signing? In other words, what do you think of Schurrle?

Forest {Ed018's Note - haven't seen a whole lot of him}

Ed do you see van ginkel as a good addition to the squad if he signs would be a much better upgrade on Mikel. Won dutch young player of the year to so must be decent. Do you rate him Ed?

CfcBenWxm {Ed002's Note - I don't rate players Ben.}

Seeing as Lewandowski, Cavani, Falcao seem to be heading elsewhere, Higuan and Jovetic not coming also, will Chelsea chase after the likes of Wayne Rooney more so now than originally planned?

I cannot see who else we can chase after that is currently a top drawer striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I still think we can get a bid in for Cavani which could bring him here if we offer Torres. If not then i'd rather just see Lukaku given a go would rather Gomez over anyone of Higuain, Rooney and Jovetic though at least his goalscoring record is impressive

CfcBenWxm

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see Gomez, I think he's a much better player than Rooney

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku, Aubameyang, Ba with a new CM and CB along with the addition of Schurrle/Isco (preferably) and were all set.

Is ibrahimovic an option that could be looked at if other targets become unavailable?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 May 2013 17:32:05
Given the young talent we have in the CM position, plus Lamps signing an extension, I would be disappointed if we added to many players to that position.

The rumors linking us with a move for Sami Khedira and Xabi Alonso are not surprising given there importance to Jose at Real, and the newer stories linking us with Van Ginkel are interesting because he is young and exciting, but I would be a bit gutted if we brought in players like this at the expense of our genuinely talented youngsters.

I believe we need to bring one new CM, but possibly move one on and promote a younger player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more. Ake, Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek are all players I feel can play regular games for the 1st team in 1 to 2 years time. We shouldn't ruin their chances of proving themselves by buying a lot of midfielders

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign another CM I hope to see Luiz their permanently and Mikel moved on

CfcBenWxm

Agree0 Disagree0

It also occurred to me that Essien will be coming back from his loan move, with him and maybe one other the midfield area (presuming we continue with two) will be saturated.

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion the people we move on this summer as the people we bring in.

Would love to see to young powerhouses within world football leading our line. Lukaku and Jovetic would be ideal and have EPL defences running scared. {Ed018's Note - or Aubameyang. I'd be happy with him and Lukaku}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed 018, just your opinion. Who do you think we're going to sign as far as forwards go (so wingers like Schurrle and Strikers)? Just asking what you think will happen

Jackson {Ed018's Note - I think Schurrle will sign and there is interest in Abuameyang so he could be considered. Yilmaz is another option. I'd be happy with Aubameyang but we will have to see}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed018. I would be happy with Schurrle and Aubameyang but I don't really fancy Yilmaz as he's not really tested outside of Turkey. One year in the Champions League isn't all that much

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree that Lukaku and Aubameyang would be grat together. Lukaku is a beast and Aubameyang is lightning quick. If we can't bring in a major striker then I'd be more than happy with them and Schurrle. However for I'd like Gomez, Aubameyang and Schurrle with Lukaku on loan.

Hello ed, will Chelsea sign a top striker (cavani, falcao etc), got a feeling we will be left with what we have got. Cfc83 {Ed018's Note - they will still look to bring in a forward}

Ed, is it true United are going to get Thiago for less than 20m? I looked on their page but there aren't a lot of answers from you guys. Are talks really as advanced is they say on their page? I'd hate it if they got a player of his quality for that little money

Johan {Ed018's Note - ask on the United page}

Ed002, Which chelsea players are out of contract in the summer? And which one's will be renewed? am I right in thinking that hilario, benayoun, malouda, ferreira and turnbull will leave? is there anybody I have missed? thanks ed {Ed002's Note - Why not try the club's page, no oubt the answers are there?}

Hi Ed, Is there any news on the stadium or a move to a new site at all? Seems to have gone quite quiet on that front. {Ed002's Note - Not that I know of.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's unlikely to be much movement on that front until we purchase the grounds from the CPO. Stamford bridge will likely need to be used as leverage/bait in order to secure a different location. As to expanding SB as it is, there are issues to do with height and egress and until such problems can be solved it's unlikely anything will happen.
Ed I understand that FA prohibit standing stands, however there are safe standing areas in the Bundesliga which has worked out well. Do you think that the FA will look into it for the future? I understand that Aston Villa, Swansea and Sunderland support the idea of safe standing. Thanks {Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely given what drove the all seat configuration. If fans would sit down during games and stop jumpling up it would be a much more pleasurable experience for all. Additionally, if they could be much quieter and stop all of the singing, then that would be pretty nice as well.}

I'm all for signing Marco Van Ginkel, but he is 20 years old (which isn't a problem), but we have players like De Bruyne who are really good players but can't get into the team, when they quite easily could. It's just surprising to see us signing a 20 year old, who will go straight into the first team squad when McEachran and De Bruyne can't get in the squad. But if he is a quality player, which he looks like, I'm all for it, just surprising.

Romelu Lukaku. We don't need anymore strikers.

I'll be well pleased if Marco van Ginkel arrives. He'll solve our 'pivot' problem. I rate him more than all we have in central midfield. A better version of Ramires - more physical, better positionally and defensively, high work ethic, younger and can only get better, a much better passer, versatile, he's got pace, good shot and scores lots of goals. Plus he'll come cheap, less than 6m pounds.
Bas!c.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For me only one question needs to be answered. CAN HE BE THE DEEP LYING PLAYMAKER WE NEED?

Agree0 Disagree0

Oscar, Mceachran and even Loftus-Cheek can play deep in midfield. Josh and Oscar may not be very physical but if that Van Ginkel guy is physical then that's no problem. We'll be fine

Agree0 Disagree0

Bas!c, you've seen a lot of this guy?

Franco

Agree0 Disagree0

Im all for giving youth a chance, but Josh McEachran has looked awful at Middlesbrough, I doubt he'll be chelsea standard! Too puny and lacks the killer pass, he's fine at passing sideways 4/5 yards, doesn't get anywhere near the box, sorry Josh fans

Before all of the continent get carried away in the extraordinary amount of money being spent to the purchases of top talent, I want you all to take a minute and really evaluate what quality does that money bring.

We often get slated in the press for spending "enormous" money on our transfer targets. The failure of Shevcenko and Torres has of course aided the press and competition alike to get on our backs.

But look at how many great deals we have done over the years and how little have we spent to get there:

Cech - 7 million, Ashley Cole 5 milion + Gallas, Makelele - 12 million, Ivanovic - 8 million euros, Lampard - 11 million, Azpiliqueta - 8 million, Moses - 10 million, Robben - 12 million, Cahill - 8 million, Ba - 7 million, Courtois - 8 million, DeBruyne - 8 million. Say whatever you want all these are fantastic returns for the investment made.

Then comes the bigger figures - Drogba and Essien and somewhere around 25 mil, Mata at 24, Oscar about the same, Ramires and Luiz close to that figure and Hazard at 32 euros. It can be argued that Essiens career has let him and us down due to injuries, but you can't forsee it and it is always a risk in athletics, nevertheless his price tag was justified and when healthy he was just unplayable. All of the aforementioned deals totally justify their values and returns.

This leads us to only the cases of Torres, Shevcenko and Wright Phillips. I myself see those three deals as the ones that clearly gained most publicity and frankly did not deliver on the price tag. I understand that some will probably throw in Obi Mikel, but at his age his market value would easily be at around 15 mil euros, so there's hardly any loss involved.

Considering all this - we clearly are doing good in the transfer market, therefor I encourage you all not to get too anxious and pessimistic when it comes to the dealings prior to the tranfer market and during it. We are always competitive in the market and get really great players at good values.

Hardly anyone of you would be too fond of spending 60 million euros on Falcao or this kind of deals. In my eyes when you spend this big - you've got to be getting a world beater with at least 7 great years ahead of him. Falcao surely does not offer that, you know.

Keep your heads up. We'll be alright. Mourinho is coming back and that is the best piece of business for us at this time.

Kežman?
Crespo?
Mutu?
Del Horno?
Jarošík?
Veron?
Parker?
Thiago?
Boularouz?
Zhirkov?

Yes, we have done well in the market, but you seem to be overlooking some of the transfers that didn't work out so well.

CABlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Del Horno cost us 7 million, Jarosik even less, can't really worry over this kind of sums. Thiago was used in Essien deal and he was a good player, which Mou was reluctant to loose.

Zhirkov was sold for proper money. Yes Crespo deal did not work out and he was loaned out for most of Chelsea career. You seriously can not blame the club for Mutu's cocaine addiction, can you? And he's still entitled to repay the transfer fee by sports tribunal and court orders.

I do not rate Kezman a failure, Boulahrouz just a part timer, while I can not blame the club for a cut price attemt to restore Veron's career. He was a top internationsl midfielder and 15 million was a decent price. What do you make of MU 28 million spent for his services then? And since whenndid Parker deserves to be labeled a failure? Did you watch him play at Chelsea? Can you blame the club for his injuries? And is he a bad player in your opinion?

Who else thinks we should keep Tomas Kalas at the Bridge next season? Could prove useful depth at both rb and cb

I would like to see him stay in to back up Cesar. If ivanovic moves I think it's a no brainer and he has to stay.
