Oscar been give the number 11 shirt. Big boots to fill!

AK

Believable8 Unbelievable1

How do you know? It is not on the CFC site

Agree0 Disagree0

Yer id have to agree drogba was what 6 ft 4 with id say size 13 feet ?

there probably be a bit loose on oscar

Agree1 Disagree3

On the CFC website (not USA megastore) it gives you the option to have Oscar 11 on the new third kit.

AK

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes it is pick a name for back of ur shirt, bottom of list is OSCAR11

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the issue with a striker replacement for Drogba.
With Drogba leaving a massive hole has been created in attack. This has been mostly filled with the arrival of a couple new and exciting attacking midfielders. However, we still need a pure striker man to back up Torres. The issue with Torres being our main man is a different matter but what we are looking for is a solid striker to lead a very competant Chelsea attack.
Obviously Torres is first choice however with we have no confidence in our current strikers of choice. Torres has had a very iffy season and Sturridge has as well, because of an attitude problem or something. Lukaku looks a good prospect however it is safe to say we're not particularly confident in him being a replacement for Drogba. It is also fair to say that Drogba is 'irreplacable'. But, these are the potential signings we have been linked with and we could make.

-Hulk- I think we all know the situation with this man as it has been a hot topic of discussion over the past weeks and months. At first I thought he would play in a striker position then I thought on the right wing, however, he is very capable of adopting either position. It does seem less and less likely we are going to sign him after Porto's clear intentions of keeping.
-Jovetic- It is the same story here as well, his club have expressed there interests in keeping him. We will probably have to wait until later.
-Cavani- This again would be one we will have to negotiate particularly hard for and we can't expect this deal to go through anytime soon. Perhaps having to push past the £40million mark.
-Shurrle- This is like not dissimilar from all the others as he too wants to be kept by his club.

All these strikers are very capable and young talents. Personally, i'd love to see any of these signed. However, Cavani would be the oone for us, despite being the most expensive.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Falcao should be the one for us!

Agree7 Disagree3

Get over it, Falcao is not available, not this season anyway and if he was we would have to pay stupid money to get him.

Agree0 Disagree4

Falcao is not available and is not versatile for us. With Hulk and Cavani there is a lot of versatility, they can both play away from the Striker position, and both work harder than Falcao who is to much like Torres.

Agree0 Disagree3

Falcao is available in the region of £37.5-£40m due to Atletico huge debt. A source tells me that he is Chelseas preferred option for a new striker and is certainly Abramovics preferred choice.

Agree4 Disagree3

Hulk is versatile but cavani isnt!

Agree0 Disagree1

Falcao stupid money!!! Just look at Cavani !!!

Agree5 Disagree2

Lol agreed mate cavani and falcao will cost around the same amount

Agree4 Disagree3

Falcao only joined Atletico last summer, no chance of him leaving so soon and after winning the UEFA cup with them. That would be like us selling Hazard to Barca next summer after having a great season for us, not going to happen so stop carping on about it.

Agree0 Disagree3

Why isnt it going to happen if barca bid for hazard next year and he wanted to play there he would be going

people rarely say no to barcalona or madrid

players can play for the first half of the season and sold in january just because they signed one summer doesnt mean they wont move next summer

Agree3 Disagree1

There is such thing as contracts, if you sign a 5 year contract you wont be going anywhere after the 1st year and not for cheap and deffo not if your the clubs star player and asset, get real.

Agree0 Disagree3

Atletico in the Europa league.
Chelsea in the champions league.
Simple....
These world class players (Falcao) are ambitious u know!

Agree3 Disagree1

No you need to get real most players will go for the right place however many years they have left on a contract

Agree2 Disagree1

No they dont and it looks bad on their reputation and loyalty, why would any club want to sign a player like that? Even Tevez isnt that low. Falcao will not leave Atletico this summer and I will even put money on it.

Come on!Cut it out guys. What's with all the random and repeated questions. I sure miss the banter on the site and as much as I like the transfer window I can't wait till it ends, so we can banter and share opinions like old times.

I love this site its the only place I get to talk about my beloved chelsea with a lot of chelsea fans, but all I get now is "Hey Ed are we interested in Modric or Bale or Messi".
I'm not saying we shouldn't ask Ed questions but at least RTFP before you post, that way it not only makes a good and different read but also, it stands a good chance of not annoying fellow posters and ED who just read and answered a similar question 2 posts below. So guys let's cut the BS . Thanks

P.S. Sorry for the rant, I just miss the banter :).

27 Jul 2012 13:33:01
Hi ed I just saw rdm say hulk deal is officially off

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Good we dont need him now overated, much prefer a bid for iker muniain. BLUEBOY1

Agree5 Disagree1

Oh behave urself hes not overrrated his record speaks for itself

Agree1 Disagree3

Record in tokyo and porto!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is over priced there is no doubt about that.

Agree3 Disagree0

No disrespect, but the portuguese league and japanese league aren't the best

trueblue012

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah his record tells us he was good in Japan and average at Porto. Never seen him have a good game in the Champs League or UEFA Cup, well over priced and over-hyped.

Agree3 Disagree1

Average at porto lol ......

in that case falcao is overrated i bet you soon disagree with that but he was at porto and the spanish league isnt hard

Agree0 Disagree0

No question, falcao is a good player, but hulk is nothing like him from what i've seen, all he does is fall over and take shots from outrageous positions

trueblue012

Agree1 Disagree0

But have you seen his left foot trueblue

im not saying falcao isnt good because he is i just find it confusing u slate hulk for his skill at porto yet falcao's been at porto and one season in lets face it an easy spanish league

Agree0 Disagree0

I must say i haven't seen a great deal of hulk, but when i have it has been in big games and he has shown nothing that makes me believe he is worth even 25 mil, let alone what porto are asking for. you say falcao played in porto the same as hulk, but he (falcao) has a much better record in europe.

trueblue012

Agree1 Disagree0

Easy Spanish league...... 2nd best league in the world mate!

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha, don't embarrass yourself, the spamish league has messi and ronaldo, the stadiums are only full when real or barca are playing, in germany it is amazing, the stadiums are always packed even if it is the two worst teams playing.

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree1

2nd best league in the world lool

they have 2 good teams please dont comment on stuff you dont know

you make a point trueblue i think hulk would be good at us though and remember falcaos record is better than hulk because hes a striker

however im not going against you saying i dont want him at chelsea i wouldnt complain if he was here lol

curt

Agree0 Disagree1

I'd agree that the Spanish league is the 2nd best in the world.

Which two teams competed in the Europa League final?

Which country had two teams in the Champions League semis?

Not rocket science.

IB.

Agree2 Disagree0

That doesnt mean nothing IB

europa league is such an easy cup and barca and madrid are the only 2 teams that are ever getting very far in the champions league from spain

werent it a german team we beat in the final though ;)

germany and italy have better competitive leagues

Agree1 Disagree1

Spain not conceding in 10 competive knockout matches shows the muppets who say the defences are poor in Spain.

Plus Bilbao dismantled united in Europa league and finished like sixth or something.

Agree2 Disagree1

Dude you kind of made my point with that sentence

the spain starting squad consists of barca and madrid players .......

just face facts la liga is like 4th best league

fancyist league in the world for skill and that but no way 2nd best

Agree0 Disagree0

It's difficult to compare leagues. But how are you suggesting that the German and Italian leagues are better?

What evidence is there?

IB.

Agree0 Disagree1

For a start, the support for teams in germany is level, if not better, than in england. in italy you get a different team winning the scudetto each year, obviously the competition is better

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

Are we judging the leagues on how good the support is or the players. I'm lost....?

Agree1 Disagree0

If you're talking about how 'competitive' the teams are within the league, then yes, the Italian and German leagues are more competitive.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Were judging the leagues on how competitive they are and quite frankly la liga has no competition

english then german then italian then spanish league is how it goes

Agree0 Disagree0

Okay let me put it this way, the standard of football being played in italy and germany is better than in spain, because, there are more than just two good teams.

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

But if Cavani played in la liga he wouldnt score as many goals..

Agree1 Disagree0

Which is why there were two spanish teams in the Europa league final, one of which beat two Italian teams to get there. Three Spanish teams in the semi-finals

Anyway, we're all entitled to an opinion. I just think that if you look at the simple facts over the last few seasons Spanish football has completely outstripped the Grrman and Italian leagues.

IB.

Agree1 Disagree1

Just no

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

So you are saying 'just no' to a factual statement.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree1

Inter have one the Scudetto 5 out of the last 7 years I think. Different team every year indeed.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree with the facts, it's your opinion i disagree with.

lets break it down, since 2000 teams that have won titles in their respective league's

la liga
barcelona 5
real madrid 5
valencia 2

serie a

inter 4
juventus 3
milan 3
roma 1

bundesliga
bayern munich 7
borrussia dortmund 3
werder bremen 1
stuttgart 1
wolfsburg 1

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol trueblue to think this started out with me and you disagreeing on hulk and falcao now were agreeing

put it this way most people will only watch barca or madrid in germany or italy theres much more competition

quite frankly france has a more competitive league than spain

Agree1 Disagree0

We aren't discussing the competitive of the league anymore.

It's the quality of football.

Anyway, think we can agree to disagree!

Hi ed do we have an interest in Gareth bale ?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

27 Jul 2012 10:29:37
Hi ed are Chelsea still interested in Luke modric

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Why? Just why would we be interested in him now we have Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Marin, Piazon and KDB.

Agree5 Disagree3

Because modric can act as a deep playmaker whereas the others you mention cannot. thats why

Agree1 Disagree4

Oscar can and probably will be used as a deeper playmaker.

IB.

Agree4 Disagree6

Yes oscar can play their he dropped and played thr for brazil when ganso came on! and he was brilliant and disiplined for defensive duties. BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree1

For the people disagreeing with my previous comment, can I just ask where you are expecting Oscar to play?

IB.

Agree2 Disagree3

In the attacking trio.

Agree4 Disagree2

Adding to what IB said who would you drop to play oscar then mata, hazard or marin?

Agree0 Disagree1

Oscar ain't going to go straight into the starting 11. He ll need time to adapt both on and off the pitch. For the first 6 month expect him to be rotated in and out of the trio behind the striker. MB

Agree3 Disagree1

Its ideal he come mata looked tired half way through last year, marin hasnt had an injury free career so far BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree2

Maybe mata was looking tired because he had to do most of the work himself last year

Believable1 Unbelievable7

We wont be good enough to play without a goalkeeper

Agree5 Disagree1

Plus, lewandowski and Torres aren't wingers, and there are no midfielders that can tackle in whatever formation that you're suggesting we play (like a really, really, really wide open 4-3-3) so it would never work. In short, that's why you aren't RDM...

Yes it does has he been playing games for the brazil olympic squad while he was signing honestly go back to school

Agree5 Disagree1

Erm it is the 6 weeks mate and FYI what i meant was i DOUBT he would sign DURING the OFFICIAL tournament. Oscar signed BEFORE the OFFICIAL tournament, maybe you need to go to a summer school, just a thought...

Agree4 Disagree3

27 Jul 2012 05:59:32
I think that Victor Moses and Azpilicueta will be our only other signings this summer wrapping up an awesome spending spree with hazard, marin, hazard, oscar all coming in. I must say that i am totally against buying another player like cavani or falcao right now. If torres is playing like s*** then sell him and buy one of them... but for now we have torres, sturridge, lukaku, moses(possibly), piazon, Or even hazard as a sort of false 9 like messi. For those who say "ya well kalou, drogba, anelka all left so we need more players.." we have effectively replaced all them except the irreplaceable drogba. Plus buying another striker angers the youth players, torres, lukaku, sturridge. give them some time and lets see how it works, look at man u they have 4 strikers competing for 2 spots in the XI berbatov and chicharito are unhappy there. if moses signs we will be totally fine with the amount of matches being played next season.

so my team sheet would goes like this-

sell- malouda/benayoun, paulo ferrera, kakuta

loan- kalas, van anholt, bruma, McEchran, KDB

GK- Cech Turnbull Hilario Blackman
Rb- Ivanovic Azpilicueta Hutch
Cb- Terry Cahill Luiz Ivan Chalobah
Lb- Cole Bertrand
CDM- Mikel Essien Lamps Romeu Meireles Ramires (oscar)
CAM's- Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Marin, Moses (ramires) (Lampard) (Piazon)
ST- Torres Sturridge Lukaku (moses) (Piazon)

XI

-------------cech----------
Ivan--cahill-terry----cole
------rami-mikel/(lamps)
oscar----mata----hazard
--------TORRES----------

XI

------------turnbull----------
azpil-----ivan--luiz----bertrand
-------essien-meireles/(romeu)
moses---piazon----marin
-----sturridge/lukaku--------

Thats ALL

Cali

Believable3 Unbelievable6

At least it you gave valid reasons for not buying a striker unlike those who say that " it might upset Torres".

Agree3 Disagree0

Good post. Agree with everything you just said except for one thing. Lukaku should be loaned out. And instead of buying Moses we should try and get a player who can play on the wing or upfront; hulk and schurrle are not really options anymore but IMO that is vital. Lukau staying at chelsea will just stump his growth. We need a versatile striker/winger IMO.

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Jul 2012 05:56:32
Lately I've proposed that Ferreira and hilario should be moved on to much disdain by some individuals. I am in no way debating that they have been fantastic servants of the club I just feel everyone has an expiration date and theyve reached theirs. Many people say you need them for their experience but I would argue that you have Ashley cole and John terry, two of the most senior defenders in the world to learn from. And at goal you have petr Cech whose been one of the best keepers in the world over the last 7 years. I just can't justify them taking up a squad place when you have better players in their position and better players fighting for their club spot. I also understand the club has had discussions with both about moving on.

Tk

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Ferreira deserves to finish his contract here

Agree5 Disagree0

IMO his career died a while ago. Now he is just picking up his wages here

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferreira has been a great servant id rather let him pick up wages from us than hilario atleast paulo still gets game time

Agree5 Disagree0

With some players it is not just about what they do on the pitch, but also off it, like in the dressing room and training ground, they are good people to have around and one of the reasons, i feel, why ramires and david luiz settled so quickly

trueblue012

Agree5 Disagree0

Spot on trueblue ferreira would be an insparation to any defender coming through at chelsea

glad he was here to win the champions league with us

also glad we won it when the likes of lamps, terry, cech, cole and drogba were still there they all deserved it just a shame makele couldnt of been here when we won it or joe cole

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree with u trueblue. People don't seen to understand the concept of players being important off the pitch. MB

Agree4 Disagree0

Ferriera does a lot of work behind the scenes in almost an ambassadorial role for the club...look at the publicity photo shoots from the tour - you'll see him in most of them.

Plus he is a good go between, for want of a better phrase, for the young Portuguese speaking players at the club...deffo a role model for them.

I have no doubt his playing career is at an end however he deffo still has a role to play at the club.

Ed,

I know this question may sound a bit shrewd, but do you think with Cavani's recent and unfortunate troubles (his wife getting mugged, home raided before that) he might consider a move elsewhere or possibly increase Chelsea's chances of acquiring him? I don't mean to sound selfish or anything of the sort, just food for thought though I am sorry to hear that happen.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I have no interest in speculating on such things.}
