Perhaps Cali You did not watch any chelsea match this season we won only 5 matches comfortably this season all the rest we won is pure luck, Today no single short on target, we lost the midfield like with westbrom newcastle aston villa basel both legs all avarage team, or do You suppose them equal to our standard just to mention a few.

i have to say most of you on here are right I just have a few things I wanna get of my chest. Firstly, a few posts down everyone was on about mikel because he sat back bla bla bla against west ham well guess what we ain't going to play west ham or their likes every game and as I said Mikel is a good player but not good enough simple, secondly, Nibblybluealways I think that's your name what is you deal with Mata, you have to be the only Chelsea fan that doesn't want mata to play or stay at the club, and the post below you say Willian is the signing to replace Mata?! If he is that's a major step down, just the fact that he is 6 mil more expensive for what i've seen makes it a really stupid idea. Willian like mikel imo is good but not good enough especially for that price. Shirley cost half of what he did, younger better has goal return, a german international a better addition not Willian we can all look to support what the club did and put on the blue tinted glasses that's fine but honestly we didn't need him and that money would have been used on another position. Finally, TSO is so arrogant I can actually see him playing the same side against southampton just to prove he's always right. Its sad tho. That Juan might leave the club but I hope he just gets a decent run in the squad to prove Mou. Wrong. Anyways we still qualified so, let's be happy this might just be a blessing in disguise.
P.S' it feels a lot better taking all that off my chest it might look like a lot of dribble, especially tomorrow but that's just how I feel.

Get it of your chest pal I've not got a problem with mata but don't have ago at me for my opinion when your having ago at mourinho the man whos brought us so much success the best manager in the world and you go against him. We all no mata will go he's to gud to be on the bench but deal with it. Willain will come good summer clear out the team will pick itself its starting to already. Until Hazard came on we were playing Sam Alladyce Bolton style long ball football (5ft eto up front)to my complete surprise. Pointless having a midfield if they don't actually sit in the midfield instead of on the edge of our defence. We need a link player desperately.

Yes we need someone to play alongside rami who can actually pass and dribble. like a gundogon or modric type player. it is so clear that we lack deep lying creativity, but I think oscar and de bruyne can fill in for now if mourinho takes some risk.

It made zero sense to me to play 3 in the middle and play long ball. I understand that Basel pressed high at times but we should have been able to move the ball and the fact that we couldn't was troubling.

What risk Cali, if either one of those players replace Lamps they are faster and more willing or able to close down an attacker and they are more comfortable with the ball at their feet and are better passers. The only risk is pissing off Frank, a player Jose went out of his way during the summer to mention would have a reduced role this season due to his age and the exact opposite has been true thus far.

I'd rather see Essien or Luiz centre mid alongside Ramires. Mikel's had enough chances he's too negative on the ball. Oscar isn't a winger so you can't expect him to be great when he's out of position same with Azpilicueta. If anyone moans about Torres they need to join the person page no service at all for him. I love Oscar but mata needs to start in my opinion.

Arrogant by no means, and I go to the bridge at least 10 times a season. It's a disgrace how a player gets 20 goals, 36 assists in complete season and now is treated worse than any other player. It's insulting to mata and us fans. Mourinho is the arrogant one who won't admit he's messed up with mata. Hazard hasn't been the same effect attacking without him for sure.

Thought you were happy with this line up accommodating lampard? At least you were against a poor West Ham side. We're going back to basics and it's unattractive football. We need to revert back to 4-2-3-1 take Lampard off, Mikel and Rami in the middle with hazard, Oscar and willian in front.

Formation isn't working. Oscar so ineffective on the wing and no one close to the striker. Should have played Schurrle, his pace and power would have been very useful in this game

Agree with Mata starting, not Ba though. I'd start Torres, always does well in Europe. Ba can be saved for Sunderland in that cup game.
Lampard, Oscar and Hazard should all be rested for Mata, Willian and Schurrle. Go back to a 4-2-3-1 with Mikel and Ramires CM.
