Ed002-What do You mean no body cares if the Fans are unhappy? Is that really the attitude of the owner and the board? If true, that attitude defies belief and We truly are nothing more than a plaything. Keep up the great work. ! Surrey_Blue ! {Ed002's Note - It depends what question is being asked but you cannot expect the board to kow tow to the fan choice of (a) manager; (b) coach; (c) player; (d) whatever.....}

Does anyone think Ben arfa could be a decent buy. Now he's fully fit from injury he's looking like a real good player. Really good on the ball, skilful, can pick a pass and can finish. I think he could be a decent option and wouldn't be to expensive. People may worry about his attitude, but yh he had a moan in the middle of the season about not playing but since then he's kept his head down and has been putting in some impressive displays. I seriously think we should consider him.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Personally been thinking about it myself. I think he would be a bargain buy. Very quick, skillful and has a great left foot. Would be very effective for us.

Ben arfa has been one of my favourite players ever since he moved to marseille and i would love to see him in a chelsea shirt, but i doubt newcastle would sell him for less than 30 mil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i would take him depending on the price though, i think hes a good option at 12 - 15 million, can see us having to pay 20 + which loses some appeal for me but maybe thats what he's worth in todays stupid prices

I know who we all wish to come back as a manager. But if he happens to stay at Madrid next season, i'm sure we won't be waiting for him to come back.

So the press is giving us all the options in the meantime, and i am certain, taht not all of the resources have been used.

I feel that Robbie has to do something miraculous to be considered to be the next manager. Like getting the foirth, an FA Cup, or beating Barca in CL. Hardly, huh?

Nad what would you all say about this - Cappelo and Zola?

JG

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I can defiantly see cappello being our next manager.
Don't think it would be a bad thing either.
He certainly knock a few heads together as well.
His record at club level is top notch too.
But personally I would be to disappointed to see hoddle back. It's criminal that he's not managing a top club.

Here's one for you:

If Chelsea win the fa cup and the champions league, but finish fifth, will we have had a better season than the Manchester club which finishes second. I'd say yes.

Jm10: we could not win the damn thing when these players were at the top of their game. How would we win the CL when we play the worst football in a decade?

For me, Ramires is our worst midfielder. He has probably the worst touch in the league ,cannot pass ,cannot tackle and does not score that much.He has a lot of pace and energy which counts for nothing when you cannot make a decent pass.Lack of quality in midfield is our biggest problem.Lampard, Essien are past their best. The rest except Mata are below average players.I pity our strikers, who are world class and I would not trade them for any one ,as they suffer and take the blame for a midfield that barely creates a chance in a game.Take any striker in the world (not Messi and Ronaldo as they are wingers)and they will not fare any better ,they would probably be worse. From what I have seen :
Falcao does not have great pace and is a typical poacher .With our great midfield he will go probably go missing and we will be playing with one man less for most of the of the game.
Higuain plays like Torres and will have more or less the same impact as Torres, probably less and will definitely not score as many goals as he has for Madrid as there is hell and heaven difference in the midfield.
Cavani is also a poacher ,who makes clever runs inside the box, hence, no passes no crosses, no goals.
The bottom line is that unless every player except Mata in our midfield is replaced we will fare no better. It just makes me angry that both our strikers are taking the blame for performance the championship standard midfielders. This is the season that was supposed to be transitional but we have neither played nor encouraged any of our youth players.Hope we do not repeat this next season. It pains me to say this but winning Champions League is our only hope for playing in CL next season and we do not deserve to be in fourth place with the desire and spirit we have shown in the league through out the season.Hope we win the CL:)

I could not agree more, we have never replaced Makalele, although Romeo looks an excellent prospect. We let Ballack go and replaced him with Ramires who is totally over-rated. He has great energy and runs around, big deal he gets paid thousands every week. Our midfield used to be the envy of europe now it is embarassing. It does not protect the defence so we concede more goals and does not supply the forward guys so we score less, end result we are in a scrap for 4th place! Not good enough for our club.

Agree1 Disagree0

I do not share your postion on Ramires, but I clearly would not care for any other midfielder in this team. Midfield is just horrible.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Ramires ain't as bad as you make him look. Barring the last couple of games his had a very good season. Thats my opinion anyway. I think our stand out performers this year have been Mata, Luiz, Ramires. Just three players out of eleven. That surely says alot about this year.
The rest turn up and play with passion when they feels its right.

My 11 for tomorrow.

Hi Ed, Im extremely concerned about the FIFA fair play rules taking effect from next season. It is my understanding that a club is allowed to lose approx 35m over the first year with this dropping for the second. Next season is the first season this takes effect. It is well known we lost over 60m last season and with the AVB fiasco and failure to qualify for next seasons champions league looking less and less likely as games begin to run out this alone could cost us 35m.
I know naming rights for Stamford bridge is likely to raise some cash ( Samsung stadium anyone) and also sponsorship must be up for renewal and if Liverpool cann get a big deal we should have no problem.
I find it difficult to believe we can realistically sign big players on big wages as this is only going to compound the issue. If you have any knowledge or insight into this I'm sure I'm not the oly Chelsea fan who would greatly appreciate a response. Many thanks Spready. {Ed002's Note - They do not take effect next season and don't worry abouty them just yet. And your understanding is way out.}

Ed, there is all this talk about a massive overhaul at chelsea, have there been discussions of how many players we are looking to bring in or does it depend on price and availability? Also in the overhaul does it include members of the board?

FT9 {Ed002's Note - Discussions are not about numbers. Changes to the board are not related to it.}

Hes here, he's there, he every f%^&kin where, Joey Cole, Joey Cole

Anyone else miss Joe Cole, that back heel against United basically won us the league that year (double season), could of done with another player of his type this season (not saying get him back). Was my fav player for a good couple of seasons

Mate watched the 04/05 season review earlier and the boy came off the bench and won us games on more than 1 occasion. I was gutted we sold him to pool.

Melbourne CFC

Agree2 Disagree0

Benayoun to replace Cole and Ramires to replace Ballack and we wonder why were are where we are

Agree2 Disagree0

Benayoun was bought to replace Fabregas mate, we are just helping out with the bills. Ramires is going to be a star in the next couple, his improvement in the last 12 months has been immense.

Melbourne CFC

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah tricky one with him, looked a touch overweight and out of form but was always usefull at coming off the bench and unlocking a game, bet he would of worked well with Torres too, wouldnt of minded keeping him but then again id still have Zola on the bench haha

SHED END

Agree3 Disagree1

I loved him in the chelsea shirt. I was dissapointed when he was so vocal when he left. Especially since his time at liverpool came to little. I would have fonder memories of him had he still not have slated the blue.

Agree1 Disagree0

Joe ,Lampard ,Robben Duff and Makalele that was the best Chelsea midfield in my opinion. The way they blitzed Barca was legendary and is probably the best match i have ever seen till date.He was probably the most creative player we had since Zola.Mata and Joe would have been awesome this season. His decision to go to pool was a blow to both the player and the club.I was gutted to see him go.If we would have paid him the salary he wanted and deserved ,it would have made more sense rather than keeping players like Kalou ,Mikel and Malouda .He still creates and scores amazing goals for Lille.Pools were fools for letting Joe and Aquilani go on loans.

Been feeling a bit nostalgic and watching some jose youtube videos. The one I found most interesting (and encouraging) is one he did before the Inter Chelsea CL game 2nd leg. He says in his life he has 3 things left he wants to do.

1. Return to manage in England.

2. Win Spanish La Liga

3. When he is old, to coach Portugal.

He spoke alot about his love for our club and our fans. I am positive (don't know if its just wishful thinking) that he will return home to us if Real Madrid win La Liga this year. His motivation for winning it is because no manager has ever won the English, Italian and Spainish league title. He doesn't mention winning the CL with them, I think in his own mind he has already proven he can win it anywhere anyway. I also think he would love to come back and win it for us, finishing what he started.

I am well aware Jose is the best psychological manager in the game and that you cannot read into his interviews. But when the Special One returns home we can all sleep easier.

I haven't given up on 4th spot or anything, just feel people are over reacting when they say top players wouldn't come if we don't get it. I honestly believe some top players would come, take Man city for example e seasons ago they didn't get into the champions league spot and look who they got players like David silva, yaya toure and Balotelli. Even the likes of juventus are in the same situation but they still get top players. We're chelsea 3 league trophies in 7 years , a good number of f.a cups and carling cups and plus we got Roman:). We got some really good youngsters and I'm sure at least a fair amount of top players would join us enough to push for the title next season. And pls don't compare us to the Mickey mouse cup holders, We can get who we want with or without 4th spot. Keep the faith .up chelsea. -BLUERAY-

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Blueray the only reason these players signed for citeh was because of the wages they got. All around the 200k mark. If city had CL football it wouldve meant these players would sign for less. I do agree that we will still be able to attract some class (espicially when Jose comes home in May) but it will affect our wage structure.

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree0

It will not affect much to us as i think some of the high earner will definitely leave this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Melbourne, the only player at City who is not on 200 K a week is Savic, and thatnis also temporary, haha. It is unrelated to CL. Yaya, Aguero, Silva, Tevez, Balotelli are all over 200 K a week. Nasri is at some 180. I really struggle to think who is under 100K, seriously.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

JG how is Savic the only one under 200k when you said Nasri is on 180k odd? Mate if you understood what I said, these players all went to Citeh when they had no CL football (bar last years signings). They came from teams that had CL football. In order for Citeh to get them interested in coming to the club they had to pay increased wages. Why else would a player leave a more successful club? They were obviously assured the squad would be getting a large amount of money invested in it, but no world class player would sign for a team that is worse off than their own unless their wages were increased by a large amount.

Melbourne CFC

Ok Melbourne, i don't want to draw you into this, because it is most likely just rubbish, but think about youself, - if Ronaldo wishes to leave, - how many options does he have?

JG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like he would have a couple. Depending on how much they were going to want for him (i would expect atleast $80m they spent) and the salary he would command (atleast 250k) his options would be Russia, possibly China or Man Utd or Citeh. If he left Real it wouldnt be to go to a better team obviously so would probably be about money.

People dont think Man Utd has spending power anymore but I guarantee you if he was made available they would get the cash ready pretty quick. I seriously do not believe we would be in his thoughts.

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree0

All this and with Mourinho in charge? He is 27, the Chinas come when you're 34 or thereabouts. Russia is hardly an option at anytime. If you were there - you'll understand. AC Milan could fit the bill and pay the wages, but Berlusconi and Galliani will never pay this transfer. Even half of it.

It is United, or us. I do not believe he could move to City.

JG

Agree0 Disagree1

What makes you think he would move to us if not Citeh? We were by far Utd's biggest league rivals when he was here, not Citeh. Wishful thinking mate, but not going to happen. I'm not saying Russia and China are good options but if he is to leave RM it is either going to be for sentimental reasons (return to Utd) or for more cash (China or Russia).

I might be reaching abit saying Mourinho will return but there is atleast a remote possibility of that happening. Ronaldo is not coming to Chelsea, ever, I'd put my house on it.

Mata has started almost every game on the LW! This isn't an early 90's computer game where players can only run in straight lines! Mata isn't a 'chalk on the heels' winger! He will naturally come inside to influence a game! Just as central attacking players should have te ability to move out wide! I suggest you re-watch the Napoli games and keep a close eye on Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani...little something called fluidity! That's what Chelsea needs!!
