BAKER JOINS VITESSE8

Lewis Baker will spend the 2015/16 season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie, Chelsea have announced.

The England under-20 captain is contracted to Chelsea for a further four years and ended last season by helping MK Dons win automatic promotion to the Championship.

The Blues have an established link with Vitesse and will hope the Dutch side aid his development.

Personal I think its a stupid move . Top championship or lower premier league would have been good.
everyone who has joint Vitesse hasn't come back to be a regular or even in the squad. And Mourinho comment about Baker . If he isn't a England player it will be done to me'.

Calling it a stupid move is a bit much IMO. He's a cultured player whose style should fit well in the Dutch league. Vitesse are also in the EL Qualifiers, so some European experience would be great for him. It will do a lot for his character playing in a different country and I think, particularly for an English player, experience playing abroad is invaluable.

Seems to have done wonders for traore.

Traore has a good chance at being a player that went to Vitesse and then goes on to feature in the first team. I don't think it's a stupid move. It's a good step up from what he faced last season, so if he gains enough minutes it'll definitely help his development.

1 in how many loans we had there? Troare hasn't come back yet so don't speak to soon.
It's not the Dutch league I'm worried about . its a team tht can't push for the title.

The English championship is a far more competitive league for progess

Where's Wallace, mcearchran, atsu, piazon, kalas and poss some more.

We buy and have had good promising talent over the years but don't seem to get them playing in the first team.

Ie kalas and piazon we all rate them highly on here . I personal don't see either of them playing for chelsea.

Just my opinion guys!!

Wheelycfc - do you seriously expect every young player to make it at Chelsea? For any club that is impossibke to achieve.

I personally feel that it's not always down to the team they go to, if a player works hard enough they have a chance.

No not saying that . i'm saying every player we have send there doesn't end up at chelsea!

Maybe that's more to do with that player not turning out as good as all the hysterical supporters assume they will do.

You say that players who go to Vitesse don't ever come back as regulars but when was the last time a player we've sent to the championship come back and played for us? Just because you don't watch the Dutch league/Vitesse doesn't mean that our players don't perform their. Traore, Piazon and Kalas have all impressed there over the years and have took that team to a different level. 2 of their main midfielders are likely to leave this summer so I think Baker will slot in nicely. He's a very classy player and I'm very much looking forward to watching him play next season

I watch the Dutch. NO need to be rude about it, it's not appreciated. This is a banter page and people are alowed their opinion.

Teams like Ajax or PSV would a better solution, they can challenge for the title.

Eds on the other rumour sites you have pull downs for other teams sites, any chance of those pull downs on the Chelsea mobile site?

quick question now that traore has a work permit what do you think will happen with him is he at the stage where he is first team ready or does he need a loan still? cheers

Good afternoon gentlemen.
Just a quick question. There is no doubting the potential of our lad Sterling but would you be happy to pay what is being reportedly asked for him?
And do you see him as a regular starter in your team if purchased. And if so what happens to the like of Cuadrado?

26 Jun 2015 13:47:06
This may sound mean Jack but I wouldn't go over 30 million for him. To start off he has shown himself to be inept with letting Aidy Ward do the things he has which has really hurt his image. He's got a lot of potential but there's no way he would get in ahead of Willian right now and we would have to consider moving on cuadrado for a loss of he was brought in. If we're going to go for a winger then it needs to be someone who is presently a definite step up from Willian and cuadrado.

I think it will be day light robbery for any club to pay over 25m for him with all his baggages. I wouldn't want the club to pay over 25m for him, not with Traore who I believe is as talented if not better than Sterling. But then again, it's just my honest opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 14:00:17
Does not sound mean at all tk and I agree with both you and Dastanj on this matter. I cannot understand how any club would be willing to pay what has been rumoured for sterling and I have no doubts his snake of an agent will want considerable fees for himself also. I agree he would not be a step up on your current winger and I agree that anything over 25m seems like a steal for us. As a liverpool fan I hope we can get as much as possible I can just see it not working out well for Sterling or the buying club. As for his agent I would be surprised if he hasn't done himself out of any future business as I can't imagine any club wanting to deal with him after what we have seen with both Berahino and Sterling. Another question, do you think Falcao could work out for your club?

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Jun 2015 14:03:59
He is a fantastic player and could be a future world star. If he settles down and tells his agent to be a little more diplomatic the public will soon be back on his side. When you consider what clubs are now paying for players we haven't even heard of then £40M is a good price. With anticipated transfer fee inflation he could be worth £100M + in 3 years.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 14:26:14
I don't see him ever being worth that JKB realistically. If he signs for you lot for anything close to what is being touted is he going to be happy to sit on the bench? And will he develop correctly not playing in every game he can? I see your logic as regards transfer fee inflation but if he was to move to Chelsea or City that will be his last big move realistically? Both clubs have no need to sell and the only clubs with the buying power to pay 100m plus. Can you see them ever paying a world record transfer fee for him? I cant. Very few English players have ever been a roaring success over there.

Agree0 Disagree2

26 Jun 2015 15:36:44
The player is absolute quality and will only get better, why waste money on 'nearly players' when another £10/15M gets you a marque signing? Cuardrado may prove to be fantastic but we paid £26M for him and another £14M gets Sterling. Home grown as well.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 16:04:40
I don't see how he can be valued at that price having one decent season. like others have said he wouldn't get in before Willian so a 50 million quid bench warmer? I think not, he has fantastic potential, granted. rather see cuadrado get more game time & settle properly! Looked very nervous on the ball last season

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 16:15:51
Would he be an automatic starter for you JKB? And if so who would it be in place of?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 17:30:37
In place of Oscar. 3 behind Costa being Hazard, Willian and Sterling. Matic and Cesc in the centre. Oscar, Cuardrado and Traore to challenge. Falcao and Remy to challenge Costa. Loftus-Cheek and Ramiries to challenge Matic and Cesc with one more coming in ( loanee or new ).

Agree1 Disagree3

26 Jun 2015 19:19:02
You wouldn't actually drop Oscar for Sterling, would you? Oscar is such a special player, very unique IMO. We look so much worse when he's not out on the pitch. One of our most important players IMO.

Agree6 Disagree2

26 Jun 2015 20:15:49
Apart from being quick there is not much more to Sterling and top defenders know how to take him out of the game so £30m+ is ludicrous and I would certainly not leave Willian out as his work rate is phenomenal. However, with Willian we paid £20m+ for a goal scoring midfield/winger and his strike rate has been poor especially as he has a good shot in both feet and that is an area he has to improve on and to my mind would be helped by someone better than Ramires/Mikel supporting him. Is it just me that feels Oscar has peaked for us? A lovely player on his day but very frail and is not having too many 'days' for sometime.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 20:22:21
Of course I would Jackson, that's why I said it. Willian as our 10. Oscar has fantastic ability but now needs consistency.
