Cavani is exactly the type of player Jose Mourinho likes to work with.
Tireless in attack and defence, powerful, skilful.

I hope we get him, if he signs for citeh they will be a force that will be hard to beat next season.

Fro watching Brasil-Uruguay: Cavani is much better defender than David Luiz in this contest.

united fan in peace jus wanted 2 know how u would feel bout rooney cummin 2 ya do u even want him? ya clearly need him more than we do lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would be pretty pleased if we got him instead of Cavani. I just think Cavani is too expensive and Rooney is an excellent player. Reckon Jose could motivate him enough to get back into shape

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Too expensive for Roman?

Agree0 Disagree0

Too expensive for what he's worth. There aren't many players I reckon are worth more than 50m. Messi and Ronaldo of course. I wouldn't pay that much for Bale either.

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Which club do you run?
Or are you an agent?
Or do you just value players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't slate me for giving my opinion, no-name. If we buy cavani, fine by me. But I think there are better value-for-money options out there. And Rooney is a fantastic player when on form, better than cavani is (imho).

You evidently haven't seen much of Seria A, Jackson. Cavani on his day is the best striker in the world along with Falcao. His hold up play is brilliant, his finishing is brilliant, his ability to find space in the box is brilliant. Moreso than anything else he is a team player. He tracks back and isn't afraid to get stuck in on a tackle. Rooney on the other hand is an overweight, overpaid, smoking, drinking person who couldn't give a monkeys about anyone but himself.

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if Rooney came to us his price tag wouldn't be far off cavanis. That said I think cavani is more reliable.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree wholeheartedly Tk. United aren't going to sell him for less than £40m, especially to a rival. He has proven time and time again he doesn't play for the shirt and loses his cool far too regularly. Cavani every day of the week for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're very right in assuming I don't watch Serie A often, as I almost never watch the Italian league. I'm just not all for the idea of spending that much money on one player, and that's in general. IF we sign Cavani, I hope he's going to be great. And apart from money we're (perhaps) going to make from winning prizes because of him, he'll probably earn the club a lot of money through shirt sales. So I guess we'll see. My biggest concern is cb either way.
Glad you're back Melbourne

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Understandable Jackson, but don't let the Torres debacle get you nervous. Torres hadn't been the player he was for 12 months before we got him. He was on the decline, bereft of confidence and his body was shot. Cavani is yet to reach the peak of his powers, and could very much be the Drogba replacement we crave. It couldn't harm Lukaku to learn from one of the best out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani is striker same type as Torres he has nothing that reminds Drogba, try to compare Lukaku with Drogba.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think more in terms to what he will bring to the side, because while he is a great counter attacking striker due to his defensive work rate he will be vocal point of our attack. Important from set plays. Destroyer of Arsenal ;-) Something we haven't had since Didi left and really he was'nt himself in his last year on a consistent basis. Cavani will bring the fear factor into defences that Drogba brought. As will Lukaku but he is still a few years off being 'world class' player

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure about that. I am afraid you will be very sad when you discover that Cavani isn't that good as you think he is. Without Hamsik he will be nothing. Try to watch Seria A a little bit before you make any conclusion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Without Hamsik he will be nothing? That's your argument? Really? You don't think Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle, De Bruyne etc etc are going to be able to put him in positions to score? Watch more PL football, namely Chelsea games, before you make such a ridiculous comment mate. He will be the world class striker we have needed since Drogba left. My comment still stands.

Where is Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jun 2013 18:13:14
Summer signings will be Schurrle as we already know, v. Ginkel, RWB, LWB who will join 2014, one striker Cavani, Hulk or Rooney and GK. Ba, Moses and Marin will leave. Mourinho will dominantly play
4-1-2-1-2 or 4-2-2-2.

Is there any news on the marco van ginkel move

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jun 2013 15:19:57
Rafa is in for the payback to our fans in the cavani saga iam telling you now guys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rafa should concentrate on his own job other wise he will be out the door before xmas like Inter.
If Cavani joins us fair enough if he does not we will be fine.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2013 14:58:39
The worst thing that can happen is if we sold torres and torres scores 30 goals for his new team. And he is slowley showing some form in confed cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fully agree with you. I am quite sure Chelsea won't sell Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can sign Cavani I would be interested to see whether Jose can get them to play together successfully because I think there is that possibility.

Is Romeu fully recovered and ready for pre season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was getting back to full fitness towards the very end of last season even going through full training. I think he will be ready for the start of the season barring something changing.

Would we go for Benzema instead of Cavani if Real get Suarez or even Cavani.

Was his relationship with Jose ok at Real?
He would be cheaper option at about £25m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why not Suarez?

What iam trying to say is cavani would not be the star of the show only at chelseafc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jun 2013 11:56:05
Cavani will only be first chose at chelseafc at real madrid ronaldo and banzema and psg zlatan city aguaro and dzeko Man United robin van persie and welback

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah
United would play wellbeck ahead of Cavani.
Sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo plays on the left and Cavani would be in front of Benzema.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani and Benzema won't play together if they ever did Cavani would be the one to drop off

Agree0 Disagree0

In front in the pecking order, not on the pitch!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the 10th of july. mourinho said it in 2 seperate interviews. that's when he meets the players

Anyone know when the squad gets back together for preseason work (I know when the first game is but not when the first training is), and also if/when those coming back from loan will be given numbers?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 July is the first day back.

I really hope we keep Torres, I think he is slowly coming back. He looks like he's got a bit of pace back at last. Anyone agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would prefer to see Ba out the door and keep hold of Lukaku, Torres and a new signing. I think that would be a good looking set of options.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2013 09:28:00
How would everyone feel about getting Jackson Martinez in to run the line with Nando and Lukaku? Off load Ba and I think them 3 could do the job. Especially if we play Schurrle Mata Hazard behind the striker. We really need to work on getting the final pass through a bit quicker and using these guys pace to our advantage. That said, any ball played into the box and you can rest a sure Cavani will tuck it away. I'm not bothered by his cost as its not my money, but the price tag would put hudge pressure on him and we all know what that can do.

So, apparently Mangala ain't going nowhere for less than 50m. Then I'd guess he's off the table as an option. Our attention should now be directed towards Zouma. He's an excellent talent and under Mourinho could perhaps have a similar development as Varane. He could certainly do a job for us even next year, as a 3rd cb perhaps. Other alternatives you'd like to see. Thoughts guys

We have options at home, boys with prospect of becoming outstanding, omerua, kalas chalobah and bruma etc, ehy easte funds for no reason, for instance omeroa was and is nigerian number onr CB. Why don't we try and get him a work permit know that he is a full international, he dual as a right back option for nigeria when they want defend differ, I saw one of the eds say we can get him work permit on the argument that he is a full inrernational, he has tendency to be good or even better than those we are aspiring
Thanks all fans, for your contribution, ehat do you

Agree0 Disagree0

Kalas is a CB/RB who isn't starting level. Bruma is being sold and isn't Chelsea standard. Chalobah has developed his game into a CM and Omerue won't be granted a work permit this year.

We need to buy a world class CB.

Marquinhos, Varane, Mangala, Papadolopous.

Buy one of these next to Luiz and we should be sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just that we could probably get him for around 10-12m. That would be fantastic value for money, at least in my opinion. But I understand your point of view. Still, I think one new cb who can play a decent amount of games right away is needed.

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Omerua has the potential to be a very good addition to the squad but I think another year on loan is likely for him. Its a position of strength for our youth team but with Bruma apparently off to PSV, Chalobah looking good in midfield and Kalas likely to go out on loan too investment in this position is needed.

My personal preference is Inigo Martinez, but with R. Sociadad getting CL qualification he may not be available this summer. Zouma would be a decent signing - the reports of Desailly similarities aren't far wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marquinhos would be a very good buy too!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see Ryan Shawcross at the bridge, not sure it would go down so well with you lot though!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be ecstatic if we got Varane

Agree0 Disagree0

Zouma has a much higher ceiling than the players you listed. Omereu is playing as a right back in the Netherlands, same for kalas. Chalobah is developing into a centre mid. And bruma is about to get sold because he can't make the grade. When you have the chance for a potentially world class player you take it.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I think julio ceasar would be decent back up to cech. 34 youd get him free qpr want him off the wage bill solid buisness
