Realistic Team Mate, apart from Pato. I'd love to see him at the club but i seriously doubt it.

Look, we need to be realistic!

You can't win the title every year.

Chelsea are currently going through a process of refreshing the squad and making it younger. Therefore they cannot be expected to be performing like we were when Mourinho was in charge and all the players were at their peak.

We currently have a squad with some players that have a lot of potential and some players who are coming to the end of their playing careers. We do not have many (many even none?!) who are supposed to be in their best playing years.

I am happy with what AVB is doing. He and the board are taking it upon themselves to refresh the squad and unfortunately this means that we may not be able to compete with the two teams in Manchester.

But with AVB in charge, and Abramovich still backing the club financially, I am sure that we will return to the top of the table within a few years.

For now, have patience, as we are going through a stage of refreshing the squad and therefore should keep off the managers back.

Because a lot of success was thrust upon us very quickly, we seem to expect success every year now, but we need to realise that this is not possible, without spending stupid amounts of money every year.

Sometimes in transition you have to make backward steps before you go forward. I just hope the consequence doesn't mean missing out on the champions league. If the next two windows work out well we will be back in contention.

Ed, if we sign anyone this winter will it be a last minute deadline deal or is there any deals practically done? Thanks {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say.}

All the negativity is not needed, yes we have been poor this season but new manager, new ideas and regarding winning the title, that was never going to happen.A top four finish and champions league football for next season.A good run in champions league and possibly lift the F.A cup I think would be a decent year.AVB needs at least this season and next to have any sort of impact,it's frustrating at times but Rome wasn't built in a day.A couple of good signings in jan/summer and we should be picking up them wins instead of draws against the teams like fulham/Wigan.Torres wil only come good with a run of games.Romeu is amazing, fast becoming a favourite of mine.Luiz blows hot and cold but has the potential to be great.Sturridge seems a bargain, surely a future England regular.Cech has never looked the same since his head injury but courtois looks very good.We have great young players in the squad and reserves but still need at least 4 additions.Im sure a 20-25m bid would be accepted by city for Adam Johnson.Kaka maybe a loan deal could be struck.VDW at RB from Ajax.I personally would like benzema up front if he's available or even demba ba I think would suit the way we play.If roman can keep patience with Andre I think it would be better for us as a club in the long run and hopefully lead us into a new era and possible new stadium.
Cech,cole,terry,luiz,VDW,romeu,essien,ramires,Johnson,
Sturridge,mata.

Remember guys patience is a virtue. Hell we waited 50 years for a title we can wait a bit longer!

Is there any chance that with the run of average results AVB's job could be under fire. I would hope not as I really think he is the man to take Chelsea forward and he is a likeable guy. Although our results have been average and I hate the word 'luck' in football, we have been a bit unlucky.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I doubt it mate, iv'e got faith in him, he's showed a lot of bottle dealing with the Lampard situation, hes also inherited a massive 50 million pound problem which cant be easy. I think everyone should try and judge him by what just he has done, i.e, intrduction of Sturridge, Mata, Romeu, all been great additions. Give him 4 or 5 more signings and then we should start to see what his plan is

Completely agree mate. Glad to see there are other non narrow minded CFC fans. I really hope the fans have patients lets not take a leaf form the Goons book and as soon as a bad game comes along want the manager out. Build a team from youth.

Top 4 is a real worry now, how can we play well against spurs. Beat city Newcastle Valencia and drop points to Wigan fulham etc, 4th place if were lucky. Gutted

Hard to stay positive, Luiz played very well, errrrmm, thats it. Boswingas final ball is terrible, we need more creative players in the middle and up top. Lampard cant complain for being pulled off did very little. Yeah we can get Cahill for defensive cover, cant see that making much of a difference. I rate Romeu, but is it really neccessary to play with him and Lampard against lesser teams at home. For me a right bacl who can put a cross in, a creative midfielder and a creative forward are the bare minimum of what we need just to get top 4.

Chelsea had great hope for Kakuta, a player with pace and who could take players on. Look at Frei for Fulham today. Why do we always send young players out on loan. We should have kept him and played him on the left, Torres up front with Sturridge on the right. Pace to kill any team. Mata playing just behind floating with Romeu and Mereiles together. A new rb needed in Jan but the back 4 basically as it was today

Agree3 Disagree0

I completely agree. Against Wigan and fulham who parked the bus and gave bosingwa years to play a ball in he did nothing. Hes awful defensively and lacks a final ball. Must be replaced. Also we need another player further up the pitch that can unlock defenses. Juan Mata or a moment of brilliance can't be the only way we can score goals.

Agree2 Disagree0

KAKUTA? REALLY? I know a couple of Bolton fans and a few Fulham fans......he hasn't gone down well at all, at either club......Bolton have sent him back because he wasn't up to scratch; they're bottom of the league!!! {Ed002's Note - Kakuta is going on loan to Dijon - as will others from Chelsea in the coming years.}

Yet another awful performance. I think we just have to accept defeat for this season and just guarantee top 4. Still have to keep faith in AVB as I think it was down to the players today. Simply awful. Hopefully the one good thing to come out of this is too show Roman that we definitely will need to spend considerable money at least this january and then in the summer if we want to have a chance of keeping up with City. Keep the faith...

Torres like a fish out of water ... Get rid in January.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Look how can you judge him with the way we played. no service which is what all strikers strive on.It's a team game and we're not good enough and need 3 quality players. A rb,lw, and creative midfielder. I'm sorry to say this but Frank is only a squad player at best

Another fantastic performance (not). Things can only get better. We are lacking in so many ways. Again so ponderous and slow in midfield with our passing. AVB will probably praise Fulham for how they defended but he should look more at our own team and just say NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Pt behind Spurs who have 2 games in hand. The 2 Manchester clubs out of sight. We r going to struggle to stay in top 4 judging on season so far.

After first half performance, god we miss Ramires!

I'm not entirely sure he made the difference. This game reminded me of last year where teams parked the bus and we couldn't break them down.

Confirmation from my man in Italy, we are ready to bid £35 million and £45 million for Hamsik and Cavani respectively, as well as inquiring on Sneijder if Hamsik becomes unavailable. Gotze is being targeted for Summer as well as Shaquiri but he will only be looked at if a large number of midfielders leave. Hazard may join in Summer 2012 for £30 million and Kalou who also fancies a move to LOSC Lille. Malouda may be swapped straight for Krasic in January which is also a good piece of business as Malouda is declining.
My punt at a team in September 2012:
Cech
New RB Terry Cahill Cole
Romeu
Gotze De Bruyne
Mata Sturridge Hazard

Subs: Turnbull, Luiz, Mecheachran, Lukaku, New Winger
