Everton midfielder Rodwell, Atletico Madrid forward Aguero and Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder are the men Chelsea want to spearhead a renewed attack on the Premier League title next season.
Rodwell has long been linked with Manchester United and although Everton boss David Moyes recently denied reports a deal had already been agreed, the 20-year-old was expected to move to Old Trafford in the summer.
However, United may now have to compete with Chelsea in a bidding war for the £20 million-rated youngster.
The Red Devils are also believed to be interested in Dutch World Cup star Sneijder, who will be allowed to leave Inter for £30 million at the end of the season, but would struggle to match any fee and salary package put together by the Blues.

Having spent big money in January on David Luiz and Fernando Torres, with markedly different results, Carlo Ancelotti will apparently be looking to bring in this trio of top quality talent, but just how likely are these moves to come to fruition?
Let s start with Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. The young Argentine international may well be leaving his La Liga side this summer, not least because the Vicente Calderon side are apparently having financial troubles and are currently struggling in eighth place in La Liga and therefore won t receive the funding boost that comes with Champions League football for the second season running and after five seasons at the club the in form striker is ready to look for pastures new and a move to Chelsea will surely interest the 22 year old.
However there is a small matter of there already being an issue with fitting Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka into the same attack, something that may be resolved if either the Frenchman or Ivory Coast international is sold this summer.
It seems unlikely that Wesley Sneijder will leave Inter Milan having seen their stock rise with the arrival of Leonardo after the disastrous Rafa Benitez reign. A move for Jack Rodwell may however prove more successful but Manchester United also want the Everton youngster and arguably need him more urgently as Chelsea already have a number of central midfield options at present.Thoughts ed?
