How many Ed's are there?
How do you all know so much? {Ed002's Note - There seem to be about 20 Eds. I have no idea how much they know as I have only had any sort of contact with a few of them.}

Ed002, do you have any clue of how Villas-Boas can accomodate Falcao, Torres, Drogba, Kalou, Malouda, Sturridge, and possibly Neymar and Lukaku? {Ed002's Note - The answer is that obviously they will not all be at the club.}


Anyone that srolls down a page or two would see that several comments have already been left about several players leaving, so i dont envy your job Ed's, although you do it Sterlingly!! So here is my 2cents:

Lukaku wont and shouldnt be an immediate starter, he'd be a signing for the future and i imagine initially a impact sub. Torres in the middle of a 3 would be sweet and i personally think Drogba is past it. Neymar looks like he could be an expensive liability and Kalou and Malouda have both shown they are too inconsistant. I think Sturridge deserves his chance and playing on the left of a front three with Torres in the centre and someone like Mata on the right (i know he's a left winger, i mean a player to that effect) would be lethal. Add to that Falcao behind them beside lampard with Essien holding and i cant see many teams standing up to it. Of course, we have the small issue of a troublesome right back spot and in my opinion this should be a priority. someone that can attack AND defend, hence not Bosingwa, Ferriera or Ivanovic. A Dani Alves like player is exactly what we need to compliment the effect of Cole on the left. Therefor we would have the following:

Cech

?? Luiz Terry Cole
Essien
Lampard Falcao
?? Torres Sturridge

So you see... 2 more big singings and maybe one or two squad players and we have a potentially lethal squad. If Drogba, Malouda and Ivanovic stay they would be good back-ups, although i dont think any would like the idea.
Lampard would of course be replaced over the next 12 months, as would Cole, and in my opinion these should be with Bertrand and then another English centre mid, although who exactly i aint too sure. Maybe young Josh will do a job if he gets a good loan deal this year.

Just wondering, do you actually know what position Falcao plays? Because it certainly isn't central midfield.

2blueforyou - Falcao is NOT a midfielder. Why do people even predict starting XI's when they have no clue what position a player plays???

Who's back will be Ivanovic ( I am aware that would rather play as CD but he was twice best RB in EPL).

Chelsea will not play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 every game next season, different formations will suit different situations/opponents; more importantly we don't have the squad to fit either formation right now!!!

I suspect (hope/pray) Anelka and Kalou will move on, this will leave us with Torres, Drogba (who will stay for one more year) & Sturridge.
When we do play 4-3-3 Torres will be the first choice central striker, when Sturridge does play I expect him to play either side of the central striker; that leaves Drogba on the bench.
Playing 4-4-2 Torres will be first choice on the teamsheet again, Drogba would probably play alongside him; Sturridge will be on the Bench.
Three strikers in the team doesn't cut it for either formation, hence the expected signing of Falcao.

I suspect (hope/pray) Malouda and Zhirkov will move on; any chelsea fan will tell anyone we have NO wide players, as previously stated Sturridge can play wide in a 4-3-3 however I wouldn't rely on his defensive abilities/commitment in a 4-4-2. Kakuta has to get his chance and that should be this season, Ramires can play wide right in a 4-4-2 but not as an advanced winger in a 4-3-3. The long and the short of it is we need wide players to make either formation work, probably two; god knows who!
Essien, Ramires & Lampard will remain in the centre of the park and Obi Mikel will probably remain as a squad player (unless a decent offer comes in), McEachran proved last year there is no need to send him out on loan however I would understand if he went to Bolton or a similar club for the year. Everyone knows a creative centre midfield player is needed, i'm not gonna guess who this might be as we have been linked to everyone (but I would LOVE Fabregas to be in our team photo next season).

I suspect (hope/pray) that Bosingwa will move on but Ferreira should remain as a squad player and Betrand sent out on loan, Terry, David Luiz, Alex, Ivanovic, A.Cole & Van Aanholt are all secure which leaves us in need of a new right back, possibly Van Der Wiel but time will tell.

I suspect (hope/pray) Turnbull will move on, Cech to remian in goal, Hilario has signed an extension so he'll remain (?); new young goalkeeper needed.

Sturridge play wide? He may do it every now and then but he's just like Malouda - he cuts into the middle to attempt a goal. He's not a winger in the mold of Robben/Duff. We need a proper winger. I'm tired of these out of position wingers that we have.

If you think that Torres can work any better with Sturridge than Drogba, you're kidding yourself. Drogba at least includes the other striker. Sturridge is only concerned with himself.

ER, that was my point! We need wingers cause Sturridge won't work, although he can play there!!!

and stupid comments like that arent gonna help, no wonder the Ed's get frustrated!!

Can i just say... Ed002 has always be honest and to the point. In a sport were something that is 100% guaranteed can change through greedy agents/clubs and players i think he has done a pretty good job of keeping us as up-to-date with as accurate as possible info from his sources. All the idiots that have been posting him abuse, dont bite the hand that feeds you as inevitably, you stop getting fed.
