Hi Ed002,

I ask this question about John Stones out of hope rather than expectation,

Considering how difficult it is going to be to compete for John Stones in the summer with every top team and its dog wanting him, based on the information you have provided on Stones and information you may be privy to at is time, will Chelsea will make an attempt to acquire him in this next week?

I only ask this as it may well represent our best and only chance of getting him. It seems similar to the Luke Shaw situation.

I would really appreciate you taking the time to go through this.

Thank you in advance Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained repeatedly that trying to identify a date that something will happen in the future is not something I want to get involved with.}

I understand Ed002.

I am just desperate for us to not miss out on Stones who is, despite his mistakes, a once in a generation prospect.

I just hope the club do something to try and make it happen this month before someone else does, either now or in the next market, like Man Utd did with Shaw.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all took a look at Everton's John Stones in the summer of 2014 but none made an offer. Chelsea made an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2015 but then moved on to another target. I very much suspect Manchester United (who showed interest some time back) will look again to Stones, and a January bid is not out of the question. Again, Chelsea might well look to another offer in January or the summer and Everton know that Real Madrid have attended a couple of games and are working around a major potential issue that may make them bite. Everton will resist any move, but as ever, paying over the odds could force the matter – as it could force a bid from elsewhere, such as Manchester City or again Barcelona.}

People are falling into a trap with Stones being young and English- that has added around £20m to any price tag. We have an equally good young defender on loan in Christensen and while on the ball he may not quite be as good as Stones, defensively and aerially he is superior. If we wanted a CB that much, better and cheaper options like Reid, N'Koulou and Jemerson are available and if we need to buy a top class one we should be looking at Marquinhos or Laporte. Plus after the summer, Martinez would never sell to us, he is too arrogant.

The way Martinez is mis-managing Everton I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the push in the summer. With the players at his disposal they should be top 4.

G8, so should be we fightin for titlw and not relegation.

26 Jan 2016 12:48:22
yes that's why are manager paid for the poor results with his job. G8 raises a good point I don't believe Everton should be challenging for a title by any stretch with maybe an exception this year due to lowish points totals. But with the team they have and the form of some of there marquee players a top 7 finish should be expected of martinez.

They can still get top 7 i believe. As they are not that far behind. Honestly i like the way they are playing. Put defelou and barkley in our team and we would be more attacking too.

Just wanted to ask others on here if like me you wonder about the people bringing players into the club.
The reason I say this you look about the Premiership and see at a lot of clubs players that would walk into any team including Chelsea and have been picked up for a small fee. Players like Kante, Payet, Alderweireld, Mahrez, Ighalo and the list goes. All players that have been outstanding this season.
Why were we not looking at these players.
Why are we paying dollar for our players and so many times then shipping them out without giving them time to settle, surely those expensive so called failures could come back and given another try under a different manager.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Football doesn't work like that at all. Sorry. Clubs do not buy players because they are cheap, they buy them because they want them and would fit in to the team.}

26 Jan 2016 17:19:02
Apart from alderweid all those people you mentioned had just one good season, and we can't be signing players like that. We are Chelsea we are elite club, you don't see see real madrid and barcelina making those kind of signigns. If those players will be good next season too, maybe we can sign them for higher fee, as we had enough of flops already.

The rumoured 25m for Ramires would be excellent business- a good player but could certainly be replaced- Diawara, Matuidi or even someone like Kante or Wijnaldum for me would be a good purchase, or just give RLC a chance/ recall Pasalic from loan.
As for Ramires- thanks for everything, perhaps not the most natural passer of the ball and certainly at times frustrating, but your energy and drive, plus commitment can never be questioned. You will leave us with a goal at Wembley to help us win an FA cup, a solid dependable member of a title winning squad and a European Champion- in no small part due to your incredible goal at the Camp Nou.

Will always be remembered for the goal but I never warmed to him as his energy and enthusiasm was tainted by poor passing and shooting and you were almost guaranteed a booking from his clumsy tackling. If Loftus-Cheek doesn't get a run now then I can see him looking elsewhere. Mikel is an excellent sub but to start him with little in the way of pace, goal threat and passing sideways is not what we need. It was clear yesterday that with some additions we have the pace to counter attack quickly and a youngster like LC is what we need. Anyone like Cresswell of West Ham as left back?

Ed said that there was no contact between Chelsea and Chinese club. Hopefully Ramires won't leave. I wouldn't sell him for sure.

I agree with you antibot I really like ramires! I was thinking earlier on that oscar would make a good defensive mid, any thoughts on it.

25 million for Ramires I astonishing for a player who's passing is bang on average and never scores really but the club couldn't turn that offer down it strengthens der hand for transfers aswell meeting fff etc.

Chelsea should bite anyone's hand off for Ramires and £25m. Personally I think Oscar should be moved on, he is far to fragile for the PL and on Saturday I thought he was anonymous.
Of course this is what makes banter interesting, everyone has a differing view of players.

Sky sports transfer betting has Teixeira 1-4 on to go to Liverpool, 8-1 against to Chelsea. What to believe? Surely looks as the SSN may be on to something after all. Would be a blow not to get him. Pato surely a huge gamble.

Betting means nothing mate. Sky are just trying to liven up this transfer window. And put more money in to their pockets by saying this is happening or that's happening. Wouldn't pay attention to any of it.

Betting is mainly based on who people are betting on isn't it? I would read too much into that

Just look at pre-season Chelsea transfer dealings and we did not buy any of them and as said, it is just to stimulate betting and sales. The latest with Teixeira is he is 'best friends' with Willian who has been selling the club to him, followed by he is 'besties' with Liverpool's Brazilian contingent and wants to join them. If Chelsea genuinely want him, they will get him.

We where odds on to sign Neymar at one point so wouldn't look too much into it. Apparently Ramires has joined a Chinese club so maybe one out one in. Lavezzi on a free in the summer are the types of deals I believe the club will look for with no European football next season.

Give you a good example about how betting shops/ sites work etc. During the the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival William hill came out on Tv and said someone has placed a £200,000 bet (in cash) on a horse. This was 8.30 in the MORNING when they weren't even open. This makes people think that it's a sure thing etc and more money is piled on to it. So really wouldn't believe what your see/ read/ hear about transfer betting. It's all a con.
