As our players gathered on the halfway line in preparation for the penalty shoot out yesterday two players really stood out with their professionalism.

Willie, with all that had gone on was walking around to every player including Kepa, giving them the big come on lads.

Also, Garry Cahill showed himself to be a proper club captain. Having been left out of the squad for several games he was out on the pitch giving the lads his full support and encouragement.

Well done to both players!

So as expected the whole world is talking about the Kepa situation. Well as far as the matter is concerned its finished. Credit to Sarri for the way he handled the situation and adopting a different philospy successfully.

I would expect Kepa to start against Spurs. I can't see him being dropped or Sarri not playing him citing injury etc. It's important all of our best players play. Kepa showed massive confidence but obviously used it in the wrong way yesterday. Hopefully that puts him in good stead for his future development at the club. Confidence is key.

Its a no brainer that the squad that was employed yesterday needs to start regularly barring a few additions. Barkley for RLC and Pedro for Higuain. CHO and Willian debate will rumble on. Willian played well and maybe the occasion against Spurs will be too much for Cho's young shlulders.

Anyway for me RLC has to start, he has shown he is the heir to Lampard in midfield. With him in the side you can expect Kante to drop slightly deeper even though Kante in his advanced role is brilliant. He has shown that he is very effective. Barkley probably won't be able to cut it out at Chelsea, he will need to get used to more bench roles. Far too inconsistent for my liking.

{Ed002's Note - Loftus-Cheek is still not up to playing a full game which is why he has not been starting - but he is getting closer apparently.}

Thanks for that bit of info, Ed. Seeing Barkley start over him can be frustrating for fans, so knowing he still isn't fully fit will help in that regard.

Thanks for the info ED! I really hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the season. He can be such a powerhouse in midfield for us! Let's see what we can do at the Bridge on Wednesday against the Spuds.

Was at the game yesterday and I think the whole atmosphere around the club was the best it’s been for a while. The crowd were in good voice, easily outsung the city fans and we were actually getting behind the team. That performance was just what we needed despite the result and everyone seemed in pretty good spirits at full time. Hopefully this result means the team now push on and we can push for 4th and go all out to win the Europa.

Sarri was very proactive bringing on CHO and RLC. Very positive result IMO, I think our performance (regardless of the Kepa situation) was brilliant. Going 120 minutes with one of the best squads in the world should say something about our quality.

Turning point of our season? I really hope so.

Hi Ed002 do you think Sarri will be a success at chelsea given time? Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - It rather depends how much time.}

25 Feb 2019 13:44:22
That's the key. History says that our board are not ones to give time when things go wrong. It has got them results instantly and I can't see them changing this approach which they feel is working despite many disagreeing.

Agreed Shak, that is the key. He needs a fair crack of the whip. He's started pretty well so I'm hopeful he will stay with us.
