It is quite obvious in any other situation or club a player like Frank Lampard would get offered a contract, due to his current performances.

But back to Frank, it is clear that he is playing well, but it is his time to leave. It is the time for all the older players to leave. We will never be able to build a younger side, if we insist on holding on to player and pay them large amounts every week. This isn't a dig at Frank Lampard at all, but it is a realization that things at Chelsea have got to change, and you have to change the players first and foremost. Half of the players on loan from Chelsea could walk into the first team squad, and even some into the first team (Courtois, De Bruyne and Lukaku).

To be able to maintain a high level of football, it is obvious to play Champions League football. At the current rate, we will have to rely on other results to get there. If we do not play well in these last ten games, we will not get Champions League football, which is quite obvious.

So all I'm asking is getting behind the team, I know many dislike Rafa, and I'm partly the same, but regardless of your feelings towards him, he will be gone in the summer. We have tough games coming up, so just get behind them and support the boys.

Cheers Chaps

he is a legend. but he needs to step down.
he was awful against city.
slow down the game too much.
and not a chance of 120 per week or more.
should be like drogbe.
move out. when you finally see your exit. than pusing you out.

Agree0 Disagree3

Lampard playing well?

Agree1 Disagree1

Giggs and Scholes combined wage, doubled, doesn't amount to Franks. If he was open to a seriously reduced wage I don't think anyone would think twice about signing him to another year or two. But he won't, which is fair enough, and isn't worth what he is currently on, at his age.

Good post PR!

Agree2 Disagree4

I heard he would take a reduction to stay. It is part and parcel of getting older. surely its not about the money when you think of the wages YOU are paying for some of the players to be out on loan, bearing in mind half of these guys out on loan will NEVER play for chelsea yet you still subsidise their wages. bad business spend the money on someone worthwhile that WILL play for the first team

Agree5 Disagree0

Most clubs that take a player on loan cover some or all of the players wages mate. We ship them out to gain experience and to see if they are good enough to crack it in the first team.

You think Lukaku or Chabolah would've been better off staying at the club this year? They would be getting A LOT less minutes!

I understand your point though

I'm depressed at how far we have fallen. I know City have a fantastic home record and I respect that but the manner of the defeat was disappointing as we really lacked the fight. players who were prepared to battle to make space. who were brave enough to look for a pass. brave enough to receive a pass. brave enough to take someone on. Earlier in the season I said we needed big players in terms of character as opposed to 'marquee signings' and I think the last few displays have supported that. although it is best to have both! I am not a Rafa fan but have always felt we had to get behind the team no matter how we feel about his appointment and it strikes me now as if the players are using the negativity to avoid responsibility. When I think about some of the never day performances of the recent past. Spurs at home in the FA Cup springs to mind and I look at our team now I think they would just have rolled over and accepted defeat. Even in the bad old days we showed character. remember being 3-0 down at Cardiff with 6 minutes to go and drawing! The players get paid a lot of money and the one thing they should always do is give everything on the pitch and it is not happening. One of the things Ashley Cole said when he joined was that he was really impressed at the incredible team spirit and will to win. We've lost our way despite spending a lot of money. My hope is we finish top 4 and that Rafa was brought in purely to do the dirty work that AVB was asked to do and that a new coach with a clean slate joins in the summer. CTID

This is the sort of response you get from overpaid players. They think they are above hard work and just have to turn up for their inflated wages. I have to work hard, whether I like my boss or not or I lose my job.
Seems like the team spirit is there when the core players get their own way or are winning. But it is in the dark times that the true measure of team spirit is to be seen, and in this case it seems non existent.
What a sad situation for a once great footballing club. In- fighting, power-hungry and greedy individuals means that only a certain type of player will want to darken the doors, and dare I say it, only a certain type of manager. Sad, sad times.

ED002 if Benitez has been told finishing top 4 is the priority why is he playing a strong 11 in the fa cup and europa league why not play some younger player's the player's are already looking tired will someone not have a word with him? {Ed002's Note - I have zero interest in tactics, sorry.}

Ed 002 Now that Benitez has achieved worse results than Robbie over a similar period of time and his comments about 'improving' the team have proved to be absolute baloney of the highest order, do you think he will survive to the end of the season?
Thanks

Hi ed would it be fair to say Torres himself wants to leave Chelsea many thanks {Ed002's Note - I have no interest in answering questions that being "would it be fair" or "do you agree".}

think its got to the stage where rafe needs to be told to forget about the FA and europa cups. Play the Kids and ferreira yossi etc. and give the first teamers a rest, so we just concentrate in finishing in top four. Dave

Hi Ed018 I know ed002 said she doesn't no much about the kiddies side of Chelsea so I thought i'd ask you. Do you no how Charly Musonda jr is doing at the club, I know he is very young but he was held in very high regard before his move to Chelsea. Jeremie Boga has come on leaps and bounds in a short period of time was wondering if he is making that sort of progress.

Thanks {Ed018's Note - could t tell you about Musonda but there is much expected of Boga and he has been playing very well lately}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Musonda is doing very well and the Club are extremely pleased with his progress.

Certain players have to be moved on, certain players need to come back from loans.
Leaving should be, Mikel, lampard, benayoun, Ferreira, Essien, Torres, hilario.

Returned loanees, mceachran, omeruo (permit), piazon, chalobah, courtios. And also van anholt he's looking very sharp at left back this season and I'm not convinced by Bertrand.

Gk: Cech, courtios, Blackman.
Def: ivanovic, cahill, terry, omeruo, cole, azpilicueta, Wallace, van annholt, Bertrand.
Mid; ramires, Oscar, luiz, mceachran, chalobah, fellaini, Fernando.

Guys who would you want our next manager to be and why?

Of course I would say Jose as he is a club legend and the players love him and would actually go out and perform for him.

My second option would be Ray Wilkins. A top tactician. i'm suprised that some prem teams haven't gone in for him in the past.

My first choice is Laudrup. He's a real footballing man, a motivator, a good man-manager. He's also media-friendly and knows the Premier League. He knows what players he needs and will get us playing well. I really see him as the long term solution to a club in a mess. We need stability, IMO that's why the players are underperforming. We need a confident manager who knows his onions, and should be given time and control to build a 'team'. And this means no 'undue' pressure on the manager whatsoever after a few bad results.

Agree9 Disagree3

Id say Klopp or Laudrup now

Agree3 Disagree0

Here we go! laudrup! bloody hell talk about raving about him because he is flavour of the month! do u really think chelsea need a rookie manager? chelsea need jose simple as that! forget moyes, klopp. conte or any other manager out there its got to be jose no one else is better

kevinCFC

p. s am sick of people posting players or managers who think they are good enuf for chelsea because they had a good game or won a micky mouse cup

Nobody posts here for your sake. If u're tired of pple posting, simply **** off. If pple don't have to express their opinions here, then the aim of this page is defeated. And it is very easy for persons like u to disrespect the achievements of another club. Yes it is just the COC, but they beat us 'over two' legs en route to the final, we couldn't even put one pass them; that's a solid team he's built there and he can do better with our resources given time. Laudrup and this Swansea team deserves credit and it is just my humble opinion anyway, much like u have urs about Jose Mou.

Agree6 Disagree1

I slightly agree with kevin. Laudrup has only had 6 months in the EPL. He's done a remarkable job but I think we should wait at least a year to see how he develops. The last thing we need is a rookie manager. Yes he's managed elsewhere before but only now is he showing that he's a good manager, and I'm not sure he's ready to handle the pressures that will be placed on him at Chelsea. Perhaps next year.

Agree0 Disagree3

Conte, really solid defence at juve, they play nice football, I like the formation and allows the youth players to have a game pogba, marrone, giovinco etc.

Kevin look at how good swansea are this season. winning the carling cup with a small team like swansea, and knocking us out in the process, is a great achievement. laudrup has clearly proven his managerial credentials with classy, bargain signings and a significantly improved swansea team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Laudrup is cheap, plays good football and would command respect from the players because of how good a player he was. Apart from Mourinho this summer who else is available? exactly so calm down and if you want anyone to have any respect for you be a man of your word and leave this forum like you promised when Villa didn't sign

Agree3 Disagree0

Grant? limited managerial experience, Mourinho? limited managerial experience, AVB limited managerial experience. At least Laudrup played the game at the highest level. Those managers listed had 1 or 2 year careers just like Laudrup has as managers.

We have spent millions of pounds acquiring managers and getting managers with years of experience.

Unless we get Mourinho or Klopp he would be my third choice, just my opinion.

What worries me is todays peformance was not very good but still an improvement on recent games. We seem to be all over the place, ba very rarely had any support and aguero
Ran our defence ragged. We are a huge step away from the manchester clubs. Why we have to play two holding players bores the hell out of me. Is falcao the answer, I don't know but we desperatly need someone in charge who the players will respect and give 100% for. Mourinho would be great short term but after two or three years would he be looking for a new challenge again. Klopp is happy in germany. So I think a decent choice would be simione who manages athletico madrid. I have watched madrid a lot this season and he has them playing good football going forward and really solid at the back.
