Why is everyone saying get Rodwell? What does he offer to Chelsea that we dont have in Ramires? His engine and pace isnt as good, he isnt as defensively sound as Ramires and he doesnt score goals. Chelsea's midfield consists of 3 areas-

Defensive/Holding - Mikel/Romeu - Sit in front of the back four and defend the final 3rd, short high percentage passing and the ability to man mark the opponents key midfielder.

Centre Midfield - Ramires - All round player, defensively sound, off the chart cardio, pace and creativity with the ability to score goals.

Attacking Midfield - Lampard/Meireles - Defensive cutting passing and creative freedom to unlock defences. Attack minded, controls the pace and style we attack.

Rodwell is a poor mans Ramires and is not needed in Defensive Midfield as Romue has shown great potential. We are in need of a world class attacking midfielder who can unlock defenses with his passing ability and attacking runs.

We need a Mario Gotze/Javier Pastore/Thiago Alacantara type player to replace an ageing Lampard and a inconsistent Meireles not a defensive minded English CM that is over hyped and sevirely over priced.

Our most important signing should be a manager who is tactically aware & not afraid to play some of the great youngsters we have at the club.
I realise we may be trying to re-build, but AVB may be a decent coach on paper, but as a manager he is way out of his class at our club.
