I agree with curt, when you pay 50 million for a striker you can't show "signs" of you're old self

i would love to see Guardiola come coach Chelsea, but having Di Matteo stay as his helper like when AVB was here, i think it would be great for tactic wise aswell as still keeping the players respect, knowing the players and control them which we saw AVB couldnt.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Yes me too. i love everything RDM has done CL & FA cup. he hasnt done anything to make our defence better hes lucky roman signed oscar & hazard. these 2 plus mata & ramires make our game what it is not RDM, the rest of the team look lost, mikel, lamps, ivan, terry. it just doesnt suit them. he as the manager should change formation. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree1

BLUEBOY1 what are you on about? what's wrong with the formation? last time i checked the 4-2-3-1 suited us well enough to be 1st in the league.
Tim

Yep i would bet my right ball that the first he would change is probably, Romeu instead of Mikel aswell as Cesar on the right and Terry out.

Agree1 Disagree0

TIM have you not seen us get ripped apart by madrid, nords, shakhter? even ferdinho or what ever his name is said they attacked our midfield because thats the weak spot with only ramires tracks back. so 3 in mid would sort that. BLUEBOY1

People that saw Lewandowski goal against RM at 1n1 with the goal-keeper, that is such things you would expect from Torres instead he waste ALL chances at 1n1's.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

I've yet to see Torres in a similar situation. Whenever Torres has been 1on1 with a goalkeeper, the goalkeeper has been much closer to him.

Agree5 Disagree2

Agree with that!

Agree1 Disagree1

I saw Torres in that situation. Against barcelona...

Agree6 Disagree2

He has been in that position alot of times, havent you been watching the games?:) he just close his eyes and shoot if he cannot run around them so the goalkeeper fall or something.

Team against Man U

Cech

Azpilicueta.Luiz.Cahill.Cole

Rami.Romeu

Mata.Oscar.Hazard

NOT TORRES

Wouldnt actually change the side as we have not got many options up top. But january there needs to be a top striker come in.

NWBLUE

Agree6 Disagree0

You would throw Azpilicueta under the bus by playing him against Man U, then you'd be on here right after the game slatting him, he has to be slowly mixed in and especially not against Man u, Ivano is doing well everyone loved him a month ago when he smashed a couple in, so behave!

I have to say that I was very disappointed with the result last night. I feel that RDM should have rotated the squad more, as the front 4 were clearly tired and the long trip out to the Ukraine probably didn't help. Yes it was going to be a difficult game but I feel that it was the perfect opportunity to play Azpilicueta and Moses and possibly Romeu and give Luiz a break. People are blaming Torres for last night's performance but everyone except Cech had a below average game. Our passing was abysmal and Torres didn't get the best of service. He's also played every game so far this season, whereas last season he barely played any games. In my opinion it's a big ask for him to suddenly play every single game from only being used sparingly last season. If we do well this season we'll play around 60 games, and to ask Torres to start all of them is ridiculous not to mention expect him to perform great in all of the games. He's scored 6 goals this season and only 2 goals behind the top goalscorer in the premier league, so I think we should cut him a bit of slack.

We must not lose sight of our current position at this moment in time. We are top of the league, and we still have an excellent chance of going into the next round. Let's just take last nights defeat as 'one of those nights'. Yes Torres was poor last night, but so were many players. He has 6 goals so far this season, which is more than a lot of top-class strikers. He will score 20+ goals this season easily. Remember its still only October.

Perspective.

PR!

Believable12 Unbelievable4

I know alot of strikers have scored less. But its because most of the other top strikers do not have the amount of chances Torres have or has played as many game as he has. if RVP had had all his chances he would have scored 10+

Agree1 Disagree3

Rvp has had double the chances torres has. He misses 3-4 good chances a game

Against Shakhtar i tought or biggest problem was not controlling the midfield which our pivot was far from doing, and i really think that is starting to be a huge problem against bigger teams. and i really hope Romeu could start playing and if its not working out maybe buy a new to replace Mikel or Ramires if he has a bad day.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

You are 100 percent right, our midfield is the problem so far in most european games. people can disagree all they want m8. we get dominated and that is not the goalkeeper or attacking players fault. this wouldnt be happening if we had ramires with a 25 year old essien. BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree0

You both have a point but that's only the defensive solution, the other issue is that our final third link up and passing has not been great in the 2 games u mentioned although our new trio didn't start the other match. Our mids are young and haven't even played a quarter of s season together, I also want to credit Shaktar who crowded them when they got the ball, rarely did u see I defender on any of our frwd players.

1) I haven't been one of those people who just defend Torres all the time but today I am sick of clueless 'fake fans' blaming Fernando Torres every time we don't win, it's ridiculous. Last night the defending was awful, we could have conceded five, yet I look on here and all I see is 'Torres this, torres that..' We passed awfully last night, every time Torres got the ball no-one was around him, the two goals we conceded were a joke.
2) No-one will ever change my opinion on this: Sturridge is not worthy of wearing the shirt. He's all about himself, never passes, never tackles, never tracks back, never shows any acknowledgement of his team mates actions. Mata did everything for his goal against the spuds, and he points at the fans and does a dance, of which 99% of those fans hate him. Oh and I almost forgot he got us knocked out at the Olympics. So he's not gonna replace Torres and I'm glad RDM realises that!
3) Lastly, I know he's been the best defender and biggest legend at Chelsea, but Terry's got to be used as a bench player from now on. Cahill and Luiz need to be given time together to build an even better partnership, which they will do. Plus Terry is losing it, and his reputation in the press and FA could effect our performance.

All in all, stop abusing Torres for an awful team performance, Sturridge will be gone in January as he's not good enough and is hated, and Terry, sadly, needs to be used from the bench. Rant over.

Jack

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Torres has been awful for the past 2 years so I have no idea why people think one good move in 70 mins is a good performance from him.

Blue con

Agree2 Disagree3

Sturridge isnt hated, he ran more in 15 minutes than torres did in the whole game! we need a striker that only thinks about himself and shooting cos torres is afraid for some reason: oh yeah, he sucks

Agree1 Disagree3

I'm not saying he played well just that whenever we lose, our fans to cop out and blame Torres instead of looking at the real problem, which last night was our defending.

Jack

Agree2 Disagree0

We need a striker that link up well with the rest of the team just as Torres do he just need to hit the goal on all those huge chances Torres fail horrible at. If we had a player that playrs around the same as Lewandowski, scores the goal, link up well with rest of the teams, and dont waste so many chances (apart from ManC game).

Agree1 Disagree0

Forgot to add this. Cahill indeed need some games with Luiz and he is a very good player, just look at the amount of goal he has scored is crazy for a central defender. If he is not playing it would be nice to watch Ivanović playing central and Cesar on the right wich i actually think is gonna be greater for the defense.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with the comment about failing huge chances, what I'm trying to say is that Sturridge doesn't have the mentality and work rate our striker in this system needs.

Jack

Agree1 Disagree0

Ive backed torres all this time but now im getting fed up. we got given a good seeing too in the centre of the park, whick mikel 50 percent of the time never protected the defence. they played through obi & ivan the whole game. BLUEBOY1

How can you judge Sturridge with this style of play when he has played about 30 mins all season ?

I just rewatched the game from yesterday and even tho we played very badly it could easily has been a draw sadly, Torres,Mikel,Hazard has not really been the best to put the ball in the net this season. This game it really cost us not having a good enough Forward cuase Torres plays as he should be a 4th choise at our club if not even be here, i mean Hernandez from ManU who is 4th choise is far better than he is and i would be pleased to swap Torres for him. I know alot of people have said it is fine Torres dont score we have so many other who can but no, its not good enough we need a striker that can do his job properly it is simply not good enough to run around and dont give a rubbish about the team attitude all the time. If he do not go out and smack in 10-15 goals in before the January window im sure he is not gonna be our 1st choise anymore, i mean even Liverpool has a better striker than us and they are a mid table club (no disrespect) this just cannot go on.
Torres runs around and play a midfielder rather than a striker, alot of time he actually miss inside the box when we need him to stand there, and that is simply not good enough for a big club like Chelsea. He needs like 8 big chances to score a goal and he still cannot score a goal at a 1n1 with a goal keeper without running around him, i mean who cannot do that and can call himself a striker?
Usualy most clubs rely on the strikers to score goals but atm we cannot rely on that and we are extremly lucky when Torres just scores ONE goal. i'd rather start playing with 4 midfielders on top without a didicated striker i actually think that is gonna benefit us more than having Torres there, kinda like the spanish national team.

Marko Marin has just tweeted "back in training tomorrow". May be he took a set back from his recovery and has been light training away from the full squad? May be ed002 can shed some light on this? Hopefully due an apperance in the capital one cup! I think the sooner he's in the set up the better, if things are not going well he is the one (more so than moses) to change the game! Cheers DJ {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to add.}

Full trust in di matteo as we are playing some great football. I still think were missing a physical presence in midfield. Maybe fellani. I have been impressed by mikel this year and would also like to see more of cahill-luiz partnership. But and its a huge but, torres has to go if where going to move forward. His mood just doesnt reflect what the rest of the team is trying to achieve. I dont believe he has ever been happy at our club. In certain games he has worked hard but has been very sloppy on the ball. I think the goals from the rest of the squad has overshadowed how bad some of his performances have been. I have been one of torres fans but he just frustrates me week in week out now. Cavani, falcao or even huntelaar would be my choice. It baffles me how much support you guys even give torres and its just a matter of time before roman moves him on.

NWBLUE

Believable4 Unbelievable5

I'm sick and tired of seeing Torres just walk around the pitch with that "I don't want to be here" body language impression. I can get that if we still had Drogba, the result would've been a different one. Come January, we really need to sign Falcao or else we're headed for some sad times. I so desperatly

Agree2 Disagree4

I didn't get to finish my last post. As I was saying. I desperately want Chelsea to be the first team to ever regain the champions league title. But not with Torres as our front man.

Agree1 Disagree6

Our 3 problems is holding mid, striker & we need to rotate the attacking trio bringing in marin & moses.
mikel has played some ok football but he trys going forward then is constantly out of position, he cant rub back. yesterday he walked back from willian first shot. that is his are 2 defend he failed too numerous times. the him & hazard f ing around caused them to score. 2 torres ive backed him for nearly 2 years, ive had enough. the trio hazard looked tired so play marin, oscar looks tired rest him play mata NO10 & play moses. not only that when oscar mata hazard play they all keep going centrally clogging up the middle. this is where i believe RDM hasnt got chelsea playing good football its the 3 amigos own footballing brains. the rest of the team minus ramires look lost and mesmerised on how they play. ivanovic great defender but cant cross or attack. unless he crosses with the outside of his boot. just play azpilicueta. their is a squad for a reason. RDM is tacticless playing you so called strongest team isnt a tactic. when weve struggled he hoesnt change the game with players like all good managers do.

Agree4 Disagree2

Agree with most of your post except why are slating our midfield trio's playing style, it beat gooners and spuds away. Just a bad game by fairly young players who haven't played together long.

I cant beleive some of the comments on here!! Ok we played poor last night, but come on lads, does anyone remember this time last year? We've been playing some of the best football the club has ever seen and you lot go on a big paddy when we lose 1 game!! Ok RDM got the selection wrong last night but if he played the team some of you lot are sugesting we would have lost more games than just this one! We had 9 players that didnt perform last night, Cech and MIKEL!!! Our 2 best players. Can every one get off Mikel's back! Every one on here is blind and cant see the work he does for the TEAM!!! Also get off RDM back!! Supurb manager who won us the CL last year when no one gave us a second thought! Get behind the TEAM and stop slating every TOM,DIC AND HARRY!! DJ

New five year deal for Mikel apparently. Surely they know their is better players to be had like m villa or Fernando or even better Romeu! BLUEBOY1

Believable2 Unbelievable3

People need to start getting behind Mikel. Even if we bring in another defence minded midfielder in the next year, he's a useful player to have around.

His performances have improved greatly and he deserves a lot more respect and support than he is being shown. We are slowly losing the experienced back bone of our team, Mikel is hugely experienced for his age.

Lets get behind him. I have a feeling he'll surprise everyone this season. Possibly even have a shot on target!

We played badly. The trip was long and and especially with both the Tottemham match and the upcoming Man u match the match was always going to be hard.Torres ,Mata were poor.Oscar and Hazard were average.Sturridge ,when he came on was not involved much.Ramires was average so was Mikel. But the defensive pairing of Luiz and JT was appalling.
JT is the probably the main reason why we played so badly. He does not have the pace ,he did not have much to begin with ,but he is now reduced to walking pace.Hence to we cannot play high up the pitch and control the tempo and dominate possession. With JT having no pace and playing at the center ,we cannot play high up otherwise he would get caught square on.Hence we play and drop back deep when we lose possession and do not push up quickly when we are breaking. This creates space for the other team and leave our front players two or three against five or six most of the time, hence we cannot retain possession. It is a lose lose situation .We end up conceding space all over the pitch.Cahill should be played along with Luiz in most of the important match to ensure that this does not happen.JT can play in the less important matches and should be played in home games most of the time. This a vital issue and needs to be resolved.I know JT will miss the league matches and but a win or a point away would have been a very good result.

Well lets move on now after loss to shakhtar donetsk
we will face man utd at home on sunday and its another big match for us
hope we will bounce back strongly
again i guess much will depend on team selection
i will go for few changes

------------------------cech---------------------------

azpi----------cahill-------------luiz-------------cole

--------------ramires----------romeu-----------------

mata------------------oscar--------------------hazard

----------------------sturridge------------------------

azpi should take ivanovic place beacause we need azpi's pace in this fast counter attacking game
romeu should come in place of mikel as romeu is better passer of ball than mikel and hence will have great chance of counter attack against so called weak man utd defence
and sturridge should start as alone striker instead of torres
if anything happens to sturridge will bring ivanovic in striker role taking into consideration he already had 3 goal's as real striker finishing touch and will striker better than torres infront of goal post .......
just kidding about ivanovic

Well i like f. torres
but now if it's gonna cost us points in crucial game's
i would like him to seat on bench and watch other's playing
i am not fan of daniel sturridge but now atleast RDM should give chance to sturridge to prove himself playing as alone striker
i think in coming january transfer window we really do need to buy a proven goal scorer some one like falcao and even if we fail to get him some one like hugain, lewandowski will do
also we need to buy good deep lying midfielder who can play alongside ramires as mikel is very much inconsistent and romeu not tested much yet by RDM

Well it was poor performance by our all 10 outfield players other than peter cech
i will not blame on individual mistake but instead it was just poor performance by everyone
the space shakhtar players got in our box to shoot was just amazing
it was just unorganised defence by us
cole-luiz-terry-ivanovic were all easily beaten by the pace -skill-passing ability shown by shakhtar players
lot of our players looked tired and were lacking energy
mikel did decent defensive job but again was out run by pacy shakhtar players and again about his passing can not say much
mata was not involved much in game
lot of times shakhtar box was crowded and we could not find the space in their box
