Hey ed, I've heard from a really unreliable source that falcao is actually two years older and that he lied about his age early on in Columbia to get into a youth academy. Have you heard anything about this? Is it even possible?

Hey ed, is kevin de bruyne likely to be loaned to Dortmund or sold to Dortmund? They're losing Gotze so would presumably look to sign him permanently but would we allow him to leave for the right price? {Ed002's Note - See ealier answers.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would be in Chelsea's best interest if KDB joined Borussia on loan. He'd get to play in a fantastic set up with some of the best young players of his generation. If there is a plan to have him back, he'd gain way more playing under Klopp in Dortmund than what he'd get at Bayer Leverkusen. From infrastructure to management to fans Borussia is head and shoulders above any club in Europe bar the few usual suspects.

Even if we decide to sell him eventually, what better way to do it than showcase his talents in the top competition. Make no mistake, Goetze leaving won't have such a big impact as some say. If the manage to get hold of Reus, Gundogan and Bender, they'll be fine. Lewandowski will leave, but if they manage to get Dzeko, they'd be fine. Remember they lost Kagawa last year and I think made an upgrade with Reus, for sure.

Hi Ed002, its true that chelsea has interest in several strikers like cavani, schurrle, falcao and may be others.
1) How many strikers does chelsea want to buy in the coming (June) transfer window?
2)Is chelsea looking forward to buy both cavani and falcao or one of them would be enough, just incase both are availlable and at the right price?
Thanks for the good work and for your most reliable insights and comprehensive information.

In my opinion Jose isn't coming back all just media hype. , I don't think we would be in transfer talks now if he was coming back. doesn't Jose want total control of these matters, and just a guess idont think schurrie would be on his list of transfers in do you.
I would be gutted if he didn't but would support whoever did come in
And 1 other thing I'm not rafas biggest fan but the guy has got grande
cahunas, tactically can get caught short, but his handling of terry and lampard has been good, stuck to his guns, something avb wasn't granted.
In my opinion they are both finished as first names on the team sheet but can offer something as squad players. This I think was down to Benitez showing them who was boss Bcoz you don't hear a peep out of them in the press like they did with avb.
Probably get crucified for this but I'm glad they realise there place at cfc

10 game ban for suarez. If you ask me I think its not enough. By him staying on the pitch (plus the ridiculous 6-7 mins added on). That could possibly cost us a place in champions league next season, missing out on a huge amount of money.

Who do you think profited the most from winning / losing the Champions league final last season? Obviously your reaction will be to choose Chelsea as we are fans and clearly we won. But. Look how Bayern have improved and got a lot better this year, they have taken a huge step in to the final and are clear winners of the German league and i've read reports of them being the best Bayern team ever. as with Chelsea we have taken a stumble and to the side, without the Champions league we may not have singed Hazard which would have been a huge shame but not end of the world. But back to my point as Bayern lost out last year as we have this year hopefully we will show some of the same grit determination and come back next year a better, bigger, stronger team after all we have played a 70 game season. and if we can finish top 4 and win the Euro Cup, we will have some new faces and again a 2nd crack at winning the super cup.

thoughts everyone?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we hadn't won we would not have had champions league football and would not have got hazard and maybe Oscar.
I'd say we beniifited from it. Bayern should have won it last year and have improved in the summer, but they didn't benefit from losing it.

Pre Warning: Long Post

Don’t know about anyone else but last nights game was bitter sweet for me. I enjoyed the game itself and it was nice to see a team dominate Barcelona completely, and watching Munich play their brand of football fantastically well is 10 times more enjoyable than when you used to watch Barca play their brand of football fantastically well. But at the same time, it was less than a year ago since we beat Bayern in the final in their own back yard, now look at the difference…

I know we’re in transition, and I love our players, and I honestly hand on heart wouldn’t swap Oscar, Mata and Hazard for Robben, Ribery and Muller. But the midfield options they have are scary compared to us. Schweinstieger, Kroos, Martinez and Gustavo, they are packed full of world class players in the middle. And all them players are capable of a battle yet still exceptional with the ball at their feet. We’re bare in our midfield compared to them, I would take any of them over any of ours. We don’t need 1 powerhouse centre mid, we need 2. Upfront, I’d say we’re pretty much equal, Gomez is by no means on a different level to Torres or Ba for me, yet come the summer I reckon we’re going to see them bring in 1 world class forward (Suarez or Lewandowski), fingers crossed we do the same. At the back I’d say again we’re pretty equal, apart from Lahm I’d have any of our defenders over theirs (and that’s not knocking Cesar because I love him and think he’s different class, but its Lahm). And in goal I’d say you can’t get much better than Neuer, Cech and Courtois. The overall squad they have is at the moment a lot stronger than ours, last night they brought on Kroos and Shaqiri, and Mandzukic didn’t play a part, add to that Goetze and their new signings and you’ve got a ridiculous squad of players. That’s where we fall behind. We need strengthening in the summer. We’ve got the nice flair players who can create chances at will, now we need one more of them, but more importantly we have to bring in a couple of powerhouse centre mids who can dominate games with just their presence and their talking, players like Lampard in his prime and Ballack. Then we have to sign a couple of clinical strikers, strikers who can lead the line like Didier used to, bullying defenders and bringing confidence to the rest of the team through just being on the pitch.

Along with the players though, the main thing Bayern have is an unbelievable work and team ethic. I lost count of the amount of times Robben and Ribery tracked back with Barcas full backs last night and won the ball back. Martinez never stopped nipping at the ankles of Iniesta, and Schweistieger just doesn’t stop running and closing down, their work ethic is immense.

When you look at the way footballs going now, long gone are the days of Barcas nice Tika Taka football winning games, it’s the powerful, clinical, defensively solid teams that will dominate now. I reckon to compete at the very top we need to bring back Jose. When he came to us he had proved himself in the Portuguese league and won the Champions League, whether it was from a bit of luck, a season where the quality wasn’t great, or just because Porto were the better team, no one could really agree on. Yet he came to us a champion and he truly believed he was the best around, and he made everyone else believe he was including the players, which in turn made them believe they were the best, and look what happened. If we’re honest looking back there wasn’t really a question that he was a special manager and that we would win the league, we sort of just knew it. And you can’t say all that came from his record as a manager back then, it was good, but it was only for two season and it was only ever at Porto in his native country. All the belief came from him and his winning confident mentality. But now if he came back he hasn’t only proved it in Portugal, he has proved it in England, Italy and Spain as well. He has the record and the reputation along with his mentality. Plus we’re not a new entity for him, we’re like a second home to him, it would take him about a minute to settle in. He’s loved by us. I honestly think it would be better second time round, I don’t care about people saying you should never go back, f*ck that, its Jose and its us, it’s a win win. Without even stepping in the front door at Cobham, the squad would already have the mindset of champions. Add to that the signings he would make, and you can guarantee they would be powerful players that we need, and we would be back competing at the top once again.

My only hope if we do bring Jose back, is that its not just for a few years like last time, but that we can have him for at least 5 years or more so he can build something that lasts once he’s gone. Roman wants us competing consistently at the top of Europe, just like the Bayerns, Barcas, Reals, Uniteds etc. We’ve had one bad season now in the Champions League out of 10, we can’t let it continue, and that starts with qualifying for next years by finishing fourth. Once that’s in the bag then that’s the time for us to act in the summer, sign the players we need, bring back Jose and push forward, back challenging at the top straight away. The great teams don’t accept 2 or 3 bad seasons in a row, we shouldn’t.

If we don’t qualify for the Champions League, it’s not the end of the world, its bad yes, but it could also be good depending on how we view it. The best way for us to go forward would be to regroup and concentrate on the league, finish in the top 2 at least, win the FA Cup and the Europa League, and then push forward the next summer with the signings.

Anyway, that’s my views.

Also, I don’t know about anyone else, but I would love next season for us to go down the German route and completely slash the price of season tickets and match day tickets to match them of the German League. It would generate a great atmosphere at the club and with the fans, it would be just the thing needed to start next season with, get rid of all the negativity generated from this season, all the bad feeling towards Benitez being appointed. Start next season on a high with a feel good factor already embedded before a balls kicked.

AGREE! 100%

Jose would bring around a air of confidence and turn Stamford bridge into the fortress it was, and having Jose as a manager players want to play for him and would choose Chelsea with Jose as Manager rather than a rival because Jose is a winner.
I do think we need a few additional players to make this transition complete but I as i'm sure a lot of us having been following the youth team doing very well, Players like Chalobah, Kalas, Loftus Cheek, KDB, Ake, Feruz playing as squad players with additional 4 players brought in, I feel we would have a stronger squad and a bigger squad and to look at the bench I would just sigh and think what next.
again Osgood good post.

Said it numerous times, with the players we've got and with the ones on loan now - Jose would be challenging for EPL. You know, we did not use to have bad spells during the winter back then. A motivator, a tactitian a passionate football genius. I honestly don't believe his demands for being our new manager are out of line. It must be Chelsea's people who have reservations. It's a no brainer to me.

Great post m8.
The only issue I see comparing ticket pices to the German League is 1. London is one of the richest cities in the world and Chelsea is in a very prestigous area of London, we have a 40k seater standium, Dortmund have a 80k seater stadium and Bayern a 70k seater stadium. That is a huge revenue difference.

2. It is proportionate to the rest of the league and unlike Arsenal we have frozen prices the last few years.

The FA and clubs need to remember who pays the bills and who brings in the revenue, they should lower ticket prices in my opinion and offer discounts to repeat season ticket holders.

Everyone, including myself, always talks about the 'Barcelona/Spain blueprint' and their tiki-taka style of football that clubs should be trying to emulate. But when you really look at it, and this isn't just because of last nights result, football in Germany is a blueprint that every FA should be striving to achieve.

From stadium infrastructure, to their youth systems, their ability to move, technically, with the times, the way ex players are utilised not just as coaches but in the higher echelons of clubs and the way they involve their fans etc - Bayern are a key example of the latter.

If Chelsea want to come out of this seemingly endless 'transitional period' the example being shown by the old enemy is the one that should be examined and utilised.

Hope Chelsea don't bid for Gomez. He would cost a fortune and might not be all that. Look how good Pizzaro is doing there and he was a right flop for us. it has to be one of the following: Diamao/ Levandowski / Higuian / Falcao / Cavani / or Benzema. With Schurrle coming in, keep Ba and send Lukaku on a 6 month loan

This would give us a good striking force

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Cavani will go to PSG, Falcao to either Madrid/City, Lewandowski to Bayern/Utd. I'm not sure Daimao is the necessary quality we need. So I'd go for Higuain as I don't think Benzema will leave.
