To those who suggest patience and the rest: We didn't spend 6 years of huge investment and hard work to go backwards. We put all tha effort to have continuity in our success. Otherwise, all that work will go to waste. An experienced manager would have managed the transition in the less possible damaging way and not getting trashed by all the other big teams.

I don't know where to start? When was the last time anybody got excited about watching us play? I mean that seriously. Last year we were miles off the pace and the team just wasn't good enough, we were too old, slow, rigid and set in our ways.......the ways that mean we are a big strong team with no creativity but think we can still beat teams by being more experienced. The only thing is, for the past God knows how long we haven't been any good! Winning the double was the beginning of the end for us looking back now. The team that finished tonight is basically the exact same team that flopped last season. Wheres the changes?? I understand AVB needs time and i honestly hope he's given it because what happens if we sack him? Who else is out there that is THAT much better that would come to us? Hiddink yes but hes getting on and isn't a long term option. Few things that are worrying me are these though:

1) AVB loves his free flowing attacking football, so why does he insist in sticking with Mikel, Malouda, Drogba etc.

2) The one thing we were used to at Chelsea was that we were incredibly hard to beat and score against. Teams HATED playing us. Not anymore.

3) How do we expect youngsters to fulfil their potential when we never play them. Mcechran, Romeu, Bertrand etc. And that just 3 from this season. Who in the last 8 seasons have we brought through? Then think of United in the last 25 years, BIG difference.

4) I read one of the Eds say the other day on the Liverpool page that it was well known Torres was a bit of a loner at Liverpool. I think its more than clear he is at Chelsea. Its not his fault though, if hes like that so be it, if hes scoring for us like he did for LFC i couldnt care less! But hes not and its not down to luck, its not down to confidence, its not down to not having a creative midfield. I've used every one of them excuses for him since he arrived but the truth is he just is not fitting in with the team. The squad we have has some big personalities in it who have played together for years, we've still got at least 10 players from the Jose Era and they know each other and trust each other. The problem is they only seem to trust each other and know one else who comes in who is a bigger star than them. We NEED to move on the big personalities and give AVB full control because whilst some of them are there he has no chance of being in charge.

Personally i think we are miles off Man City. Not anyone else in the premier league, i actually think we have the 2nd best squad. I just think AVB needs to be given time. Give him 2 seasons, if by then we have got rid of Drogba, Kalou, Mikel, Bosingwa, Anelka, Hilario, Turnbull, etc. If we are playing JT and Lampard sparingly. If we are still in the Champions League. If we have bought at least 4 quality players who are starting week in week out for us, and playing Josh Mc, Lakaku, Bertrand, Lucas Piazon quite often. And most importantly IF, and this is a big if, but IF our football is exciting aswell. Then i will be happy. If any of these doesnt happen then after 2 seasons he should go. But give him time first. What have we got to lose?? We're doing sh*t anyway, may aswell do sh* with the same manager in charge for once.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Is AVB a man or a mouse? You are describing him as if he was incapable of making decisions about the team. He must know what is going on so where is his initiative? Where is his showdown talk with the board and the owner? Where is his ideas? He hasn't got it. Stop blaming the team all the time and keep feeling sorry for him. It has nothing to do with time. The bloke is clueless!

Agree2 Disagree3

JT and his cronies ARE the problem. Like it or not, they are coming to the end of the road and they are STILL clinging on. Move them on now as they are stifling the dressing room and all the new talent within it.

Agree6 Disagree1

That's what I said isn't it? Who is gonna move them on? AVB.

So you leave out our best player this season so far Sturridge and play malouda, Lampard and Meireles who are all very slow. McEachran needs to start playing, youth and full of energy and new ideas not slow tempo sideways build up play.

A lot of talk about Higuain. Why would he even consider leaving Madrid to come to Chelsea when you compare the two teams at the moment and the chances of winning anything. The English premiership teams are no longer the force they once were, Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Napoli

AVB is plainly a coach not a manager get guus back asap and show him how to manage this club before he makes us a laughing stock which is what is happening fast, or better still just go back to porto where you belong avb

Your club was a laughing stock long before this.

One positive tonight was the performance of Sturridge. The pace we need. The game was a terrible watch. Still far too slow and ponderous especially in midfield. Frank no longer contributes anything positive, Meireiles is average. I am really concerned the season could be over with a view to winning anything by 6th December when we play Valencia. The players being touted Cahill and De Bruyne are not going to improve us. It's going to be a tough watch this season.

As we are interested in strikers, does this spell the end for Torres ed?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

23 Nov 2011 20:24:21
What's the story with Torres ed? Why is a £50 million striker on the bench every game? AVB not fancy him? Is he a sulker like when he was at Liverpool?

Just seems so weird considering before his red card he was coming into good form. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of a story, sorry.}

Hi Ed do you no if there is any interest in Kyle Walker of Tottenham. I've been a fan of his for a while due to his blistering pace and attacking ability but he seems to have got a better overall defensive game this year and would seem a very good option for a new RB. He is also young and British and would be available in Europe.

PB {Ed002's Note - There is no interest.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

We would anyone leave a team that is doing better and showing more promise than ours We missed our chance the year we did the double. We could of hand picked the cream of Europe. Instead made panic buys in January.

another poor performance AVB you are not good enough tactically man the side you put out tonight again is weak i think you were a bad appointment by roman, mark hughes i wanted a brittish manager for once at the club no disrepect to you avb but your not good enough to be chelsea manager if we lose sat against wolves or tues against the scousers roman has to sack you or we could end up this season not in the top seven, like i said you were a bad choice to be manager come on please sort this out roman sack him if you have to, this from a very unhappy chelsea fan.

Cech cost us , plea face facts , it's no good making great saves one minute and looking like a complete clown for their winner. The worst Chelsea team I've seen in a long long time . Let's stop making excuses , Lampard , Drogba , Malouda , Mikel , Kaluo all most go and bring in young fresh players . What's the point in playing these old , un motivated players . Lose blooding new young players . We needed to win tonight and yet again Drogba goes down with a powder puff challenge and goes off and leaves the team a man down for 5 mins , for Christ sake Drogba man up will you . maluoda couldn't careless about Chelsea , if you watch him closely he actually laughs when he loses the ball . Not at all convinced with AVB , in my opinion he his way out of his depth ! Ricky

Oh dear you Torres haters can't use him as a scape goat tonight.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

How pissed off must he be,cant even get off the bench,he could do with a nurse putting powder on his arse and rubbing it to stop him getting pressure sores,
the prob is when you paid 50m hehe sorry, you only bought torres you didnt buy the player that made him stevie g,its like buying a bugatti veron and not getting the engine, never mind always next season, ynwa,

No but you chavs can make him out to be best in world and cant get on pitch,

Hi, im a liverpool fan & really wish we still had torres & i beleive there is no doubt he will come good for you. the problem is all our goals came through torres at that time & now he is not the focal point at chelsea because of all the class players in your squad it will take him that much longer to adjust, but he is world class and everyone knows it, a lot of opposing fans are bagging him at the minute & this is putting doubt in your minds also, but again mark my words he will produce the goods he has produced it in flashes it will come.ynwa!

We have had two attacking managers in the last few years AVB and Scolari, we need to give time and money to AVB I believe he will come good, we are to quick to sack managersgive him time and he will get rid of the old and he will bring in young new blood

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Be hard to bring in new young blood when we won't have money from champions league and if we lose to Valencia we will be playing more games in Europa league across europe and that will have serious affect in this years challenge for top 4, malouda and mikel not good enough, drogba unfortunately maybe isn't either, so so gutted but I hope to god we don't sack another manager

23 Nov 2011 21:46:39
Yes lads we need a manager to lead us out of this mess. AVB can go back to Porto and play with his Subuteo

Cant u glory hunters give ur manager sum time? Its not ur manager's fault, that stupid russian owner of urs needs to take blame for ur team's failings. The only difference between sheik mansour n roman is that mansour knows how to spend money, roman doesnt.
75 million for torres n luiz? Makes carrol look like a bargain. BTW, thanx for clearin up one of the top4 spots for liverpool. U just made King Kenny's job easier.

Have to say Mereiles, Ramires and Luiz have had a decent half in terms of covering. Torres would have put away Drogba challenge, yet he sits on the bench again.
And we wonder why he has 0 confidence.

January wish list
Centre Back - Cahill
Centre Midfielder - Roswell
Winger - Hazard
Forward - Cavani

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I don't Understand how Cahill is a Wish list player? He is a average/above avaergae Defender in the premier league, Hummels is a wish list player, Subotic is a wish list player and i really dont understand the Rodwell hype and especially how his skills would help the lack of pace and creativity that our defensive team lacks.

In my opinion these players will be leaving in the next two windows:-

Anelka - £8million
Alex - £8million
Drogba - Free
Malouda - £12million
Ferreira - Free
Mikel - £12million

Total - 40million plus 480k a week in wages

And these players will be bought to replace them:-

VDW - £14million
Hulk - £28million
Ganso - £25million
Cahill - 9million
Di Maria - 26million

Total - 102million with wages at around 340k

What do you guys think?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I think in all honesty we would be lucky to receive half of the 40 mil projected for the outgoing players.

Agree3 Disagree0

Not 12 million for malouda?

Agree3 Disagree3

Ferreira, Mike and Drogba (may be) may not leave Chelsea. Hulk and Ganso is unlikely. There was a keen interest in Di Maria and Cahill last summer. I doubt Di Maria will join Chelsea. Cahill is highly likely to be a Blue this winter. For VDW i personally don't want to him as a our right-back. He is almost similar to Bosingwa. Personally i believe we should go for Mauricio Isla. Good, pacy, strong player who can play for various positions. But at the time i am not aware of any interest of Chelsea in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

340k wages are you serious?? Cahill would be on 50/60k along with VDW, thats minimum 100k. Hulk/Ganso/Di Maria are all going to want 120k roughly. Your looking at closer to 450k than 300k m8. Plus your forgeting about 20m alone in signing on fee's.

Looking at the squad now, it is clear there has to be major surgery to play the tactics AVB wishes to employ.

In short, if we stick with AVB (which i hope we do) there needs to be a lot of movement in and out sooner rather than later.

We need defenders with pace who can play a high line. We need midfielders with legs so they can press but also with creativity. We desperately need a defensive midfielder. And we need a right sided attacker.

I suspect the shopping list must now include....

Cavani or Krasic or Hulk
Cahill
Rodwell
Pereira

OUT
Anelka
Lukaku loan
McEarchan loan

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Hulk would be perfect. Skilful quick powerful gr8 shooting, got the lot,
