To all fellow Chelsea football fans attending the final on Saturday.
I think it would be wonderful if the fans of both clubs laid flowers scarves or whatever, at one of the Wembley statues in memory of the people who have lost there lives in Manchester.
The families and friends of these victims need to know that the fooball fans and all the citizens of London stand with Manchester!

Hey ed, what kind of transfer window are Chelsea planning? For the past 3 yrs it's been more like a 1 out, 1 in policy . but I saw JT say that he expects 5-6 major signings .

Also what kind of role will Conte be playing in transfers, I mean Mourinho's position was of Manager and Conte just Head coach ; if I'm not wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have a number of targets but will not buy for the sake of it.

There has been no change to the transfer process.}

I am 66 and enjoying the site. I've been a supporter/ season ticket holder since 1961/ 62.
My first game was on a boxing day against Walsall in the old 2nd division. We were top af the league and they were rock bottom. We lost 1-0.

33 and basically since the day I was born. My dad drummed Chelsea into my head from a very early age and started taking me to matches from the age of 5. So many great memory's from growing up and watching games at the bridge, I was a very lucky kid. Chelsea FC bonded me and my old man together and even tho we don't get down the bridge much these days we still watch every match we possibly can together.

I'm 20 and I guess 2007, I'm from India and here football isn't a big deal, I first saw Chelsea play on a Sunday morning show on ESPN showing just goals back in 2003 or 04 . but it wasn't until the PL was broadcasted in 2007 that I became a blue.

SuperFrank, My uncle used to take me to the games as my Dad was a Man Utd supporter but I go to every home game with my sons and its something (if you can afford it) I would recommend to every Dad.
I don't think people realise how football can help family relationships!
My sons and I don't often agree about our club but it has helped us bond!

31. Since I can remember really, my dad brought me to my first game when I was about 5 or 6 I cried when Chelsea scored and we had to leave because I was scared of the shouting LOL. Great memeories over the years. Some fantastic times in the late 90's. Particully remember when we played vicenza in the semi finals of the cup winners cup I think. Mark Hughes won it for us. Great game. If my memory serves me we went on to beat Stuttgart in the final!

Haha Wheelycfc - I had a few Gullit 4 shirts growing up aswell! I think the first shirt I ever got with a players name on the back was the old grey and orange away kit ( hedious kit, but I loved it) with Gavin Peacock on it and had a green and purple goalie shirt with Kharine, how times have changed!

54 and been supporting them all my life through thick and thin. Went to every game in the 80's and 90's (they were interesting times! ) and was until recently a season ticket holder in the Mathew Harding upper. First Cup Final was in 94 and was at Wembley in 97 when me and my mates never thought we would see another day like it) how wrong we were, thankfully. My Dad was a Fulham fan as well.

20, supported the blues all my life. The first season I can properly remember is 02/ 03 and was immediately obsessed by Zola.
I went to my first game when I was about 6 or 7. Family of lifelong blues fans but having grown up in the clubs most successful era I've had my fair share of glory supporter abuse!

Ed001, if you're around. I think I remember you not being overly impressed with Virgil Van Dijk. Now with him apparently being the prime CB target for Chelsea this summer, do you think he would be a good addition to our team?
I myself am on the fence. I'd actually prefer for us to just bring Christensen on board and go from there. But I was wondering what you'd think about VVD in the Chelsea squad.

Also, do you know of serious Chelsea interest in any other CBs (Rudiger probably)?

Any reply would be appreciated, thanks Ed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if he is to replace Cahill, then he is an improvement, but he is not someone I think would be a good addition. He just does not seem to be any kind of step forward over Christensen. Having said that, Conte is a very good coach, who works hard on improving player focus, and a lack of focus is VVD's main weakness. So maybe he could sort that out? If he can stop him ball watching and wandering off, then VVD would be an excellent addition as he is strong, fast, excellent in the air and very good on the ball.

I haven't heard anything with regards to Chelsea for a while mate sorry.}

23 May 2017 13:09:53
Oh no worries that you haven't heard a lot recently, just thought I'd ask. I'm afraid we'll get Van Dijk as Ed002 said on another page (Soton page I think) that he'll leave. But while Van Dijk has an excellent physical profile, I fear it'll lead to Zouma and Christensen leaving the club. And that would be devastating.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. Conte made Bonucci the world's best CB, so if we get Van Dijk I hope he can do the same for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair Bonucci was pretty much the best anyway but he did make him even better. There are so few quality centre backs about at the moment though that there is not a lot of choice.}

23 May 2017 13:35:27
Some fans mention Laporte as well as the best option. Him being left footed would obviously be good to replace Cahill as LCB. But then I'd rather just stick with the young guys we have. Luiz, Azpi, Cahill, Christensen, Zouma and Ake looks plenty to me. I think it's a shame we might let Zouma go this summer. That guy is a beast.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't see the need for Chelsea to buy a centre back personally. You have such good options already.}

23 May 2017 13:44:18
We seem to think alike, Ed001. The money could be much better spent in other areas (wingback, CM and another forward option) . How about you hit Emenalo and Marina up with an email? Tell them to go all out for Ousmane Dembele and Verratti, if you'd be so kind ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not sure they would listen to me mate, but I will try for you. Though I think Bakayoko would be a good signing for you. I know Fabinho gets the hype, but I do not know why. He plays like Yaya Toure in a defensive role. In other words he gets into position but never works hard to get back and is a liability defensively imo. Bakayoko reminds me of players like N'Zonzi, looks awkward so doesn't get rated. Whereas Fabinho moves well and has a name that makes him sound like a footballer, so he gets all the love.}

23 May 2017 13:59:46
Not sure whether you're kidding or not. Can you really contact guys at the club like that? And I don't mean "you" as someone in general, but you specifically, Ed. The -inho at the end makes the Fifa overall score go up at least 5 points :-P

I like Bakayoko personally. He looks like a potential beast, and apparently he destroyed Spurs' midfield in the CL so that's already a plus in my book. But I've seen concerns over his offensive game. In our 343 it can be a hindrance if both our CMs are defensive minded. Kante has improved offensively I think, but he's still not going to be a regular contributor in terms of goals/ assists. Playing a guy like Fabregas obviously helps in that case, but then we suffer significantly defensively.
That's why I like guys like Verratti (who would be a dream), Naby Keita (though he wouldn't be a perfect partner to Kante as both need to be free to roam all over the pitch to wreak havoc) or Tolisso. Tolisso for example is pretty good defensively from what I've read, but he's good at joining in attacks and being decisive as well.
If Bakayoko does join, I just hope he's got the ability to play some good passes, bring out the ball from midfield and maybe have a go from the edge of the box. We need some more offensive threat from our CM positions against defenses that sit deep.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not at Chelsea I can't, no. Ed002's contacts there have made it not worthwhile me spending time building a contact base there to be honest.}

23 May 2017 14:15:45
Interesting, thanks for that, Ed! I can't wait till Ed002's Chelsea sharkopod comes in that case. I really wonder where our main efforts will be focused.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate, I am just as interested to hear his Sharkopods too.}

As most of you know, I like Willian and have defended him on here for 2 seasons now. The Guy was told to add goals. he has 8 in his last 11 starts! 12 for the season. not always a regular now with the form of Pedro but never moans. Would be interested if some peeps on here will now change their opinion?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

23 May 2017 00:10:55
I've never disliked Willian he's a great player. He's done better this year but I still see him as more of a set piece specialist than more of a goal threat from open play. That's why I prefer Pedro. But we should always try to improve our team if there's better players available that's why I want us to Sanchez. And if one of Willian or Pedro has to leave to sign him then so be it but I'd prefer to keep Pedro as his runs behind the defence always cause teams problems.

23 May 2017 04:18:53
I think willian is a very serviceable individual; however I also think that Willian and Pedro are both at their peaks and have similar characteristics as players and we would be well served to sell one of them. In doing so we could target someone with a great deal of upside and could possibly offer different characteristics such as elite level pace and a goal threat. I would love to see the club target Keita Balde Diao from Lazio or Ousmane Dembele of Dortmund who meets this criteria.
