Lets give oscar one more season before we decide to sell. Correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't he played tournament football for the last 4 summers? At 23 that would take its toll and might be a reason for his poor form 2nd half of seasons. A full summer break will be good for the lad

{Ed018's Note - well Copa America is this summer and I'd think he will be in the Brazil squad so he won't have this summer off}

I doubt he would play that much for Brazil based on recent performances, coutinho & others would be first choice, Jose must see something we don't

The Brazil squad is a weird one, the team seems to be picked on who the fans like the most instead of people who are actually doing really well like coutinho. So don't be surprised to see oscar start every game at copa America

I think that what you say is partially true, NWBLUE. However I really think that the coach can't overlook Coutinho anymore. He's been playing very well this year and Oscar hasn't. I'm guessing Oscar will see less game time this summer.

I saw it mentioned on Twitter and agreed. if you could merge Oscar (1st half of the seaon) and Coutinho (2nd half of the season), you'd have the ideal player!

Oscar is by no means a poor player; first half of the season he was one of our key performers. His role allowed Fabregas and Matic to tick and no-one is better at pressing from the front - in that regard, he helps Diego Costa out too.

I do think that he could benefit from a long rest. he's also become a Father, maybe that's impacting him too?

To be honest, all our midfielders (Matic, Ramires, Oscar, Fabregas) look knackered!

You're right, all our midfielders seem to be tired and not performing up to the standard they are capable of. No doubt that's part of the reason why the team hasn't been clicking.
And that's also why it'd perhaps be wise to get in another very good centre mid. Sell Ramires and perhaps Mikel, buy a world class (or near world class) centre mid and give the other spot to Ake or RLC or Chalobah for example. That way, our primary options could be rotated without a dramatic drop in quality so they can stay fresh throughout the season. And if a youth player could be the 4th option then he'd see enough time on the pitch to develop properly. Either Pogba or Koke would be nicely in this scenario :)

Good point ed, itll be up to the club to manage the player over the year. I really think with a proper rest we could see his top form for a whole season and not just up to christmas. Coutinho been playing well but his stats aren't that good. Think ivanovic has the same amount of goals and assists this season

Was pleased with the 3 points yesterday but I have to admit that our defence and midfield need a bit of restructuring. Ramirez, Oscar(sad for him), Mikel, might need to move on. Not seen much of cuadrado but Willian doesn't offer much going forward. Zouma should just get into the heart of that defence. Ivanovic need a rest. A Koke, Fabregas, Matic midfield pairing will do it for me next season. In Jose I trust.

{Ed018's Note - I have to agree with what you have said. It's hard to believe that Oscar so little right now. I can't believe how much he has fallen off in the second half of this season}

What does Ramires do? Honestly, all I see him do is run with the ball and then lose it, or get a yellow/red card for a bad challenge.

He really has fallen off dramatically, it's a bit weird. He was very good to start the season so what happened? Perhaps it's fatigue, but it's happened pretty much every season that his form drops after New Year so he should be working on it.
I want the club to keep him, because he's a beautiful player to watch when on form.
I also think it's time Ramires either starts playing very well or he should be sold on if possible.

In fairness to Ramires, he came on just after half time against Southampton and completely changed the game. I don't think enough people have been looking at Matic recently. I find it hard to criticize him as he has been so good for us, but seriously, the man has been terrible lately.

Ramires like lampard works better in a 3 man midfield. Time to move on mikel, Cahill, willian, ramires and Oscar. Sorry but half a season players aren't good enough. Cahill one good game one bad, can't believe he got his place back after zoumas fantastic form. Willian doesn't do it for me one bit, he doesn't even make runs and when Ivanovic is on the ball instead running into space or getting down the flank he walks towards him. Doesn't score enough. Ramires has had his time with us, 2 man midfield doesn't suit him. Oscar such a shame but I'm still in the mind that we should never have sold mata. So what mata doesn't defend but Oscar doesn't get 36 assists and 20 goals in a season. As for mikel no need to give a reason.

You're right, Juventa, Matic hasn't been playing well lately. I myself don't pick him out that much though because there's nobody in the team that can replicate what he does. It's my opinion that what Ramires brings could be done by Ake for example. Of course he's got less experience, but I think he could perform a similar role just as well. And he'd probably offer more protection for the back four. That's why I wouldn't be opposed to selling Ramires.

Ed with PSG having bid for Pogba do you see us trying to compete and making a bid of our own or is interest being focused elsewhere?

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't work like that.}
