I didn't go anywhere mate. Just had a day off reading transfer news. I'm back now though.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 22:04:01
I have been a huge fan of Willian ever since he signed and the player is getting better and better. (Had a few debates on here about his quality as well. won't mention names. A few on here wanting him sold recently lol. in fact lol again. with Hazard and Pedro we look very strong in that position. Add in Musunda and Boga and we look good going forward. Those positions are sorted.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - William is fine now that he's not first choice. He provides good depth and Boga and or Musonda should as well, but when everyone is healthy it's Hazard and Pedro for sure}

24 Jul 2017 08:44:13
I agree ED018 that Pedro and Hazard are first picks. Do you think Boga and Musunda will stay? I know it has been reported by ED that there is interest elsewhere for them. I really hope they are given a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I think Musonda will stay, Boga I'm not so sure}

24 Jul 2017 11:27:34
Ed018 have you got any views on our CM, we look one short at the moment. Anyone you'd like to see come in or a fringe/ loan player, such as Pasalic, that you'd like to stay?

The more I look at the current market the more disappointed I am that the club couldn't convince Chalobah to stay. Totally get his perspective on wanting a move though, hopefully he breaks into the senior England squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I was hoping Pasalic would stay but a loan looks likely.}

23 Jul 2017 18:01:25
Ed001, if you're around. I've got a question about our loans in the PL. Do you think RLC's loan to Palace was a good choice? I don't know what De Boer is like and just curious to know what you think about the fit.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not in the slightest. De Boer does not impress me at all and Palace are not, imo, suited to his style of playing as they have a lot of players all similar. De Boer will not sort out any attitude problem he has, if anything he will be encouraged to saunter around, from what I have seen of De Boer's teams. He needed to be in a relegation battler who would need him to get stuck in and scrap for his future. RLC is a lazy get, that is his problem, he does not put the effort in, so he needs to be in a place where he either does so or gets bombed out and hopefully learns his lesson. Either way he would sink or swim instead of just continuing to float.}

23 Jul 2017 18:42:03
Great shout ed001 that's what he seems to need
He has all the ability just seems like he needs to grab the game/ opportunity he gets with both hands rather than looking so lethargic all the time imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. He has the ability, I just wish he would realise he needs to put his all in before his chance goes.}

23 Jul 2017 18:54:30
Crap, that doesn't sound good. Being Dutch I was hoping De Boer would be good at developing young players. Guess not, which is a shame.
I disagree about the relegation battlers being a good spot for him though. I think managers facing a relegation fight almost always trust the more experienced players. I'm pretty sure he'd see little time in midfield at a club that is in trouble.

And what do you make of Abraham's fit at Swansea? If they lose Gylfi then I don't see how it's a good place for him. The team around him needs to be able to at least create some chances for him. He will get you goals if you put some good balls in, but without Gylfi I'm struggling to see where the service will come from.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - You think that might be a rash generalisation about the Dutch? It is like saying that all Germans look like Joe 90.

23 Jul 2017 18:59:24
Probably hope taking over from reason with regards to RLC and De Boer, Ed. I want the boy to make it as he's got all the ability in the world. He could become genuinely top class if he applies himself as you don't often see that combination of physicality and technique in a player.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - The club would rather have sold Loftus Cheek and kept hold of Chalobah.}

23 Jul 2017 19:03:27
Yeah spot on ed001 if he doesn't we know where he'll end up which would be a real shame.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it would be a waste of a talent.}

23 Jul 2017 19:16:49
Seriously, Ed002? Shame that Conte couldn't convince Chalobah to stay then :- ( I rate him highly as well, and it wouldn't surprise me if we regret selling Chalobah in 2 years' time.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Conte per se - it is to do with demands that the club can't, or perhaps won't, commit to.}

23 Jul 2017 19:40:00
I assume those were playing time demands rather than monetary?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Yes. And I can see his point. And I would not be surprised at all to see him work his way in to the England World Cup reckoning with the move.}

23 Jul 2017 20:20:06
Any truth in a buy-back clause for Chalobah Ed002?

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is one.}

23 Jul 2017 20:26:43
I hope chabollah really kicks on this season, as he really has the potential to become a quality player.

Also do we havs a buyback clause in his contract?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

23 Jul 2017 20:36:02
Totally agree about RLC, when everyone was shouting about him a year or two ago I think it went to his head. I don't think he realises you have to go and get it, it won't come to you. IE Jeremy Boga. Now that's how you take your chance. I saw palace wba, RLC was conspicuous by his absence. I thought that was the time to show his ability surrounded by players he should be better than. However he was very average in fact that's bigging up his performance.
Let's sell him then we can stop wasting conversations on him and what he could do.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 23:16:59
I first started raving about him after a post season friendly against City when Rafa was our manager when he bossed the match and had yaya in his back pocket. Since then he hasn't progressed as I and many others had hoped but we shouldn't give up on him yet, clearly has the talent but he has to work for the rewards. Hope he takes his chance as the talent is clearly there.

24 Jul 2017 07:32:57
About the World Cup spot for Chalobah next summer, I wouldn't be surprised either. Southgate really rates him very highly. If he has a good season at Watford he'll be going for sure :-) thanks for all the insight in this thread, Ed. The buyback clause makes me happy.

24 Jul 2017 08:07:25
Great to hear that there is a buy back clause.

Found this on the Gooners page, Hope you won't mind me posting this Ed, so fellow blues could read as i found it rather interesting.

It's with regards to the influence of social media and football journalism during season.

{Ed002's Note - It is a good question to ask and perhaps I can offer an example of "unsubstantiated journalism" this morning.

The true sports journalist is still out there - they will have good relationships with certain clubs and with many of the intermediaries (agents/ representatives) that there are out there. Often they will get on well with certain players. These folks will not always get it right, but they should be able to more often than not confirm where there is interest in players and broadly what progress is being made toward agreeing any sort of contract that can see a transfer happen. However, with the world changing due to social media, Twitter, Blogs, Facebook and a whole host of new and often transient web sites that provide up to the minute and blow-by-blow accounts. The true sports journalist will take this with a pinch of salt, but others (I would never use the term but oft referred to as the writers of “lazy journalism” do) . And the example is indeed Arsenal related (well sort of) . A player who Arsenal were expected to make an offer for this summer, Naby Keita, has been reported as being subject to an agreement to join Liverpool for £74.5M overnight Friday/ Saturday with the news breaking last night. The report has been picked up and is being repeated from the original source (Winner Sports) with compelling headlines from the Star and the Express. I am not a reader of the papers, well not the English press, and I had not heard of Winner Sports. So a quick check of their web site and it seems to provide links to gambling we sites, which seemed odd - just as odd as providing a price in GBP as opposed to Euros. So, where are they based? A quick check of their address of "22 Fleet St London EC4Y 1AA" (ignoring their @gmail. com" contact address) and suddenly there is a hint: Ye Olde Cock Tavern on Fleet Street – how apt. As an aside Arsenal don’t see the value in Naby Keita at anything like the figures being thrown around.
So as you suggest, there is a blight out there and this blight exists with the new style of reporting that is coming out of social media – the purpose of which really seems to be a place where you can keep in contact with old school chums, chaps you were incarcerated with and sharing photographs of your breakfast. Many football supporters are desperate for transfer news and will follow the slightest hint of their club buying a player like lemmings, believing every word they read. Where rumours persist of a player potentially leaving the club we get screams of “unsellable”, “he’s worth £100M” and “let him rot in the reserves”.

So what you need to do is find the remaining true sports journalists who won’t give blow-by-blow accounts but will be able to tell you, in most cases, where there is interest in a player. They won’t always be right, they won’t always have the sensational headlines; but they do offer up decent information. }.

Saw that reply. Excellent write up by Ed.

So apparently Kenedy posted something on Instagram, which offended the Chinese. Therefore, Chelsea were forced to release an official apology to China, on behalf of Kenedy.

Although I don't know what he posted, as he deleted it shortly after, it is highly unprofessional, and he should receive some kind of punishment from the club.

That being said I, like mane others on this site, don't see him making it at this club. It's a shame, as I was really hopeful when we signed him.

He's a young man who's made a mistake which he quickly realised and apologized for. No need to castigate him or how he's not going to make it.

24 Jul 2017 09:48:06
I don't want to get all Jeremy Corbyn but the Chinese Government has a damn cheek if it is so easily offended considering it's record on human rights and lack of democratic accountability!

24 Jul 2017 12:45:42
yes about Kennedy, his got talent am sure we all agree. but in the way we play now call me naive but I don't see the position he is well suited. he lacks the physicality and positioning of a wing back, and has poor decision making going forward. where will he fit in, in a Chelsea set up going forward. as in in the next 3 years where do u see Kennedy development headed with regards to the Chelsea squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 02:43:23
Ed if its possible please could you say what wing backs and cms chelsea are looking at
Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I wouldn't rule out Sandro just yet, and it looks like Oxlade-Chamberlin is of interest.}

23 Jul 2017 13:07:13
Thanks for that Ed, from a more general perspective, I'd assume that Arsenal would be reluctant to deal with Chelsea / direct rivals where possible. is that your take or have I got that wrong?

Steve.

Ox is horrendous CM but on ok wingback / winger option I suppose, more so being homegrown,

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 17:34:24
Do not really believe we need oxlade in our team. Maybe if pedro is still injured by start of season.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 21:55:00
What happens if Pedro or Willian get injured after the window close? We will then be hoping we had signed him? We should sign him if we can.

23 Jul 2017 09:50:30
I know last season we was interested in adama traore does intrest still remain?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Really?}

Pedro has been sent back to the UK. Hopefully he recovers well.
On that topic, Ospina is a right prick. Who the hell comes out like that in a preseason friendly. It's the 2nd time Ospina's knocked one of our attackers out as well. He also nearly took Oscar's head off a couple of seasons ago when coming out to get the ball. And just like with Oscar, Ospina wasn't even called for a foul. I'm starting to really dislike that guy.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

23 Jul 2017 09:06:43
good chance for boga now to keep his spot for pre season.

Agree4 Disagree1

23 Jul 2017 10:06:11
Completely agree re Ospina - Oscar had played really well in that game until the concussion, and was never quite the same again. Hope this is not true of Pedro. Extraordinary that Ospina not booked/ sent off or such challenges, and have to wonder whether he means to do harm - hope not.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 10:33:46
It was a stupid thing to do from ospina and it was only a friendly.
I was thinking the same when I was watching the match.

Doesn't sound good knowing that his pre season is cut short. Hopefully he recovers and is back to the player we know from last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2017 07:52:55
Well apparently we have 14 non-homegrown players as it stands. ( Excluding matic and Costa)
So we still have 3 more places for non-homegrown players.
So expecting still couple of major signings.
