{Ed022's Note - Hi all, there has been a Player Profile Updated on Seydou Doumbia of CSKA Moscow. Reports have suggested that Chelsea are interested in the Striker, and to say he is prolific is an understatement. Be sure to check out the 'Your Profiles' section also, as there are plenty of profiles for you Chelsea fans, including 2 on Oscar, one on Thorgan Hazard and more. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

Have we signed Oscar? Only in the club shop their selling pre made shirts with his name on. Guessing its a done deal and we can relax? Or has anybody ever experienced anything like this where it has backfired?

OsgoodIsKing {Ed018's Note - he hasn't officially signed but i expect him to. Remember a few years back when they started printing up Robinho shirts, that backfired a bit.}

In your own opinion ed, who do you think is better, Oscar or moura? {Ed018's Note - I think they are slightly different players but from the limited chances to see them play, ( not youtube ), I believe Oscar offers alittle more versatility and might be alittle further along than Moura in regards to their development.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Exactly what i wanted to hear ed, cheers.

Agree2 Disagree0

It is difficult to compare the two as they play in different positions, and have a very different style of play, Oscar is a more intelligent player, who works hard for the team (although not to hard physically) where as Moura is more of a classic explosive impact player, who runs at defenders and tries to make things happen for himself. The difference is Nani vs Scholes.
Both have huge potential, they are both technically great, and both filled with confidence, but in my opinion Moura has more to do to get to the level people expect him to reach, and there is a chance his selfishness/tendency to run into blind alleys will never be ironed out. There have been questions about Oscars size, he is slight which is obvious, but this does not seem to have hindered him up to this point.
My opinion is that both have the potential to be top players but Oscar is less of a risk. He can already control a game, and play killer passes, if the new look Chelsea team is built around his talents i can imagine him pulling all the strings, and opening up the game for the likes of Hazard, Mata and Torres. Moura could be the kind of winger who inspires fear in the hearts of fullbacks the world over, but he will need to add an end product to his incredible dribbling, and he will also need to involve his team mates more.

Keep an eye on both during the Olympics, it should be a great comp to highlight their talents.

Agree1 Disagree2

He don't play the same position as scholes....?

Agree4 Disagree2

I didnt say they played the same position, it was simply a way of me highlighting the difference in style of play, Oscar controls the play, and temp of the game while creating chances for others (like Scholes does for Man U) And Moura runs at the opposition forcing errors and attempting to create something out of nothing (like Nani), its a fairly simple comparison, not a perfect one but useful enough.

Here is suggestion do not hammer me please:
How about a bid for Suarez if the Cavani bid fails?
I certainly think he is great player will suit our system. He can play on the right also.I am saying this as I think there is a chance pool may sell him.Certainly better than Hulk.Plus it will make pool even weaker.20-25 m euros should be enough.
roan

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Why would we pay Liverpool in Euro's?

Suarez is a gifted player, whether he would fit in at Chelsea is another question. Definitely not first choice for me.

IB.

Agree3 Disagree0

Where has this come from? We probably wont even attempt to get him and LFC wont sell him to us... Yes he is a great player but never see it happening. Also why pay in Euros when both clubs are situated in England?

Regardless of how good a player is would you really want him at Chelsea?

He has been playing as a striker because Nando and Sturridge are not on tour yet.

I posted a little thing after the game saying essien was class but if he improves on that and stays healthy then that is bigger than any move we are in the running to make. A Michael Essien at full strength would be the perfect compliment to Ramires in the midfield. That would give opposing teams one hell of a time to get through. When you're facing a team that packs it in you can put Oscar in for him giving him some needed time off. Over all this was the most intriguing thing for me this summer and I have my fingers crossed he gets back to being the bison we all love.

The thing is that during counterattacks, due to the pace of the team, there are certain players who are getting caught out and are slowing the pace of the game right down.Maoluda,Mikel,Lampard(who can play quickly ,but has to do so more often)are slowing the game down drastically at times and it does not suit the up front pacy players.Atleast Malouda has to go.If Essien can regain his old self then there is no need for a defensive midfielder, but if he does not, I think we have to sign a defensive midfielder as Mikel is not good enough to win balls regularly on his own.He did well at the end of last season ,but we have to keep in mind the fact that he was supported by a defensive formation, which will not be deployed this season.Romeu is an option ,if he does well in the Olympics else we have to buy a defensive midfielder and sell Mikel or Essien .For Lukaku, his touch simply has to improve ,if he wants to be world class striker. As for the rest ,a right back and a back up striker is necessary.Lukaku is not ready and needs to go on loan.Piazon can be great but his is too young and has to be brought in gradually.Cavani or Hulk and Ceasar would be ideal.
roan

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You are right, essien & mceachran were 10 times better than mikel and lampard. just been on the vital chelsea site & they are far to biased to thr favourite players, atleast mc n ess got the ball to our attacking players. last year for lamps no matter what his status. BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree0

Dont judge mikel on the last two games, he was playing behind 4 attacking players who were giving the ball away alot, and in front of loopy luiz, hutch and ferreira. He is under-rated and under-appreciated

Kenny

Agree2 Disagree1

We have seen Mikel for a long time half a good season with a defensive formation does not make him world class. All I am saying is we need a defensive midfielder who can win the ball no matter what the situation.Someone like Essien in his prime or Makalele. As we are now flooded with attacking players we need someone with pace, steel and positional awareness and it is not Mikel.

Lukaku to go out on loan

Piazon to act as cover for Torres so no big money signing is made to disillusion him. That way Piazon gets PL experience as i doubt any EPL teams would take him on loan and Torres has reassurance that he is the #1 chelsea striker

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Im starting to agree with some people to be honest i always backed torres to be number 1 striker but if hes not good enough then hes not good enough

if he wants to sit in the corner crying then thats his problem find your form again nando and you wont have a problem

if your not good enough you need to be replaced

i as much as anyone want nando to get back to his best but we have to be prepared for if he doesnt get that and piazon isnt capable of being or main striker yet if nando flops

curt

Agree6 Disagree4

Why do people not understand. People dont want another top striker coming in because this will pressure nando and make him play poor again. If he is left alone as the main man there will be no one as good as him we just need to let him flourish

Agree1 Disagree4

At last people begin to see that Torres can only be picked if he performs. Up till now he hasn't but he should start the season and prove he is worth his place. All these people that say he needs to be no1 and needs to feel the support of the board are talking tosh! He is a footballer and payed very well to perform,so stop the sulking and prove your worth it!

Agree3 Disagree0

Curt where have you been
trev

Agree1 Disagree1

I for one am still keeping the faith with torres,i'm optimistic he'll compete for PL top scorer.apart from that i believe we'll see a lot of our goals come from the midfield, marin, mata, hazard,de bruyne (if not sent on loan),ramires, lampard are all goal getters.i say send lukaku out on loan and keep sturridge as backup for torres.its gonna be an exciting season, cant wait for it to start.the future's looking bright boys

aL

Agree0 Disagree0

Woo hang on a minute torres was brilliant end of season & in the euros, so hes fine u wait. but u lot wana spend 40 plus milkion on a new striker i would much prefer a right back & winger for that. whats happened to the sturridge fans then dont u trust him anymore BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree0

IMO Lukaku plays way too lazy for a 19yr old and that more than anything needs to change for him to be considered a Cf cover. The only time i've seen him in full sprint its toward goal, otherwise he's walking or slow jogging around the pitch. He plays like a 34yr old striker that's already proven himself and now is just looking for goals instead of a young hungry player looking to make an impression. i don't like his movement without the ball and he does nothing on defense.
BTW - First time posting, love the site

Agree1 Disagree1

What happens if Torres goes on another goal draught or gets injured? Who gets the goals then. Lukaku too raw needs a loan, Sturridge ok but not convinced by him uptop on his own and Piazon is not ready and no way is he a natural striker. In conclusion far to big a risk not to invest in another striker. 60+ games next year. Lewandowski or Llorente would do for me. Oscar, a rightback and another goalscorer and our squad will rival anybodys

Agree2 Disagree0

Look at the players torres had around him other than mata! i bet anyone next year hell be in the top 3

Agree0 Disagree0

Piazon is not a striker!!

I refuse to take any negatives from that game.

DEFENSIVELY - i do not worry as we have world class defenders .

MIDFIELD - what I noticed was how well hazard and
Marin keep the ball. Add to that mata and Oscar and I could just see us never giving the ball away ! Add to that the electric pace of Ramires sitting next to Oscar and that prospect is unbelievable.

ATTACK - After all of those midfield players , just imagine Torres playing on the shoulder of the last defender and being slid passes through.

MY TEAM VS WIGAN

Cech
Ivan-Terry-Cahill-cole
Ramires-Oscar
Marin-mata-hazard
-Torres-

PREDICTION : 4-0

BIFTW

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Agree with most of that team, but Id like to see us sign hulk and have hazard,Marin, mata and hulk competing for the three attacking midfield spots. I'd agree with defence as I'm terrified whenever luiz has the ball in defensive posistions but going forward he's class. I think luiz could be a world class CDM. Hulk,Cesar and Moses would complete a excellent transfer window for us.

Agree0 Disagree2

Make sure oscar joins before getting carried away

Agree4 Disagree1

Hutchinson looked bad, his passing, positional play, but he ain't scared to tackle, better at centre back. Mceachran and Essien looked really good together. Lamps and Mikel were very very slow. Marin looks very good. So does hazard. Lukaku needs to go on loan for sure. I think I'd Mattel did the wrong thing by putting kakuta and hutch on the right side. Debruyne made some lovely passes but looked lost sometimes. I think kakuta would play a lot better with someone a bit stronger at the back like ivanovic. He showed glimpses of good football but got lost a lot asweell. Piazon looks nearly ready to be honest, not just his goal his passing and movement was very good. I don't think luiz is takin pre season to serious, just looks like luiz at first, but he'll sort that when it's serious. Made some good forward runs. Mceachran made some really good interceptions and some good passes to build the play. He's still very young but he sure knows how to pass, always creating space very clever player indeed. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree1

Do you really think lampard won't play? Just remember all of theses new players won't be able to slot straight in the team,it WILL take time for them to adapte to the premier league,so expect to see lampard starting for a few months yet.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ok essien instead of oscar. we r movin away from how lamps likes 2 play, new era sorry but he slows our play dwn 2 much as does mikel

Agree1 Disagree1

Why do u think Spain and Barca play busquets? {Ed018's Note - to roll around on the pitch a draw fouls?}

Guys i didnt watch the PSG v Chelsea game but did Hazard play good? Did the whole team play good?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Hazard, Marin, Cech, Turnbull, Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz (when defending), Cole, Essien (after a few dodgy first passes), Piazon all played well. Lampard & Ramires played alright. Kakuta Malouda Hutch and Lukaku didnt play particuarly well.

Agree2 Disagree2

Mceachran played really well at his passing game. I thought lampard and Mikel were terrible. To slow, far to slow. Essien and mceachran changed the game. Marin looks impressive, even though i knew he would, bargain of the season.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

As i said earlier who cares hes unbelieveably overrated

Agree2 Disagree1

He is young, skillful and has incredibly quick feet. Would be a welcome addition to any team. But would not set the premier league alight in his first season. 2 or 3 seasons down the line he will be one of the worlds best though in my opinion.

what did everyone think of the game

we didnt look great but it is only pre season we constantly rotated the squad and many youngsters were playing

to sum up if anyone is worried about the performance i myself dont feel the need to worry

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Still only two pre season games but Kakuta, Mikel havent played well in either. Lampard seems to take about 15 - 20 mins to take hold of a game (which isnt good when youre only on for 30 mins). Lukaku has shown he is not ready when facing higher standard opposition. Why have Ferreira and Malouda(and whoever else we are selling/releasing) been given game time.
Anyway positives - Hazard and Marin have shown lots of early promise. Piazon clearly is a good finisher (though like Lukaku he needs to work on getting past the defenders. McEachran is looking promising. If i have forgotten anyone who has shown promise or has been particuarly disappointing sorry. Cant wait for Mata and Torres to return. I kknow mata wont return until after the olympics ie too late for pre season stateside.

Sev

Agree2 Disagree1

I actually thought mikel play decently, made some good tackles, actually surged forward with the ball, didn't actually make just sideward passes, and he made 2 amazing passes that the commentators failed to appreciate, one which split their whole team on half and another one outside his right foot to Ferreira.

Devon.

Agree3 Disagree5

Essien looks promising i wish he gets back to his best wether he stays with us or moves on was a great player

i still think our 3 behind torres should be mata hazard and marin but people dont seem to want marin starting hes showed already hes worth the 6.5 mill we paid plus more

Agree5 Disagree0

Marin will be the signing of the season.People need to realize his quality and start to put him in their favoured starting line up.He is going to be as good as Hazard if not more.

Best players against PSG-

Hazard-Showed drive and strength and was pushing on and constantly being a threat.

Marin-I thought Marko was outstanding tonight and just showed how much of a bargain he was.

Essien-I though Michael had a decent game, he was tidy and showed glimpses of his old self.

Cole-He is just pure quality, showed why he is the best left back in the world, constantly bombing forawrd at every possibility.

Not so great players against PSG-

Hutchinson-He is young so it is forgivable, but he commits himself to often and finds himself in no-mans land. Needs to learn(but has the attributes to be good).

Kakuta-I feel he has skill and pace, yet is unable to execute any of these. His passing was average and didn't track back and left Hutchinson isolated at times, which is probably a contributing factor to why Hutchinson didn't have a great game.

Luiz-I hope he is only playing like this in Pre-season, otherwise Cahill is taking his place in the team. To many mad runs forward.

In general I think that it wasn't a bad performance yet, it wasn't a great performance. There are some key places within the squad that need to be sorted, right back being the most major issue. I felt that the younger guys had decent games, De Bruyne was okay but I think is just trying to fit into a new system for him, but made some decent passed, Lukaku needed to be more confident and take chances and hold the ball up more. But overall it was an okay performance, with some excellent football coming towards the end of the second half.

What do you chaps think?

Poor first half.
Cech - not much to do
Hutchinson - a liability, goal came from his side
Cahill - reliable
Luiz - old self, looks like he doesn't care if we lose
Ferreira - don't know why we still have him, poor positioning
Lamps - decent
Mikel - supposed to be a dm yet he can't tackle
Hazard - best player, great movement, passing , touch
De Bruyne - looked good on the few times he got the ball
Kakuta - i know he's young but that was just awful
Lukaku - potential but not good enough at the moment

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Apparently Dortmund are valuing Lewandowski at £35m, so who would you prefer Cavani or Lewan for that price?

Thoughts guys?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would prefer Lewandowski as I feel he is more of a target man than Cavani, and as Drogba has left we need someone to fill that role. I would only pay max 25 mil though for Lewandowski.

PR!

Agree2 Disagree4

Cavani is pure class. He's got pretty much everything you have in a centre forward.

Tk

Agree2 Disagree0

R u kidding?? Cavani is way more of a target man than Lewandowski. Napolis whole game to just hit the long ball up to Cavani and hope he makes something of it and bring others into play. Lewandowski play more tipy tapy football at Dortmund; no long balls up to him.

Agree2 Disagree1

Cavani is alot like drogba but quicker

Agree3 Disagree0

I think both would be good.

Lewandowski looks a fantastic prospect, wouldn't cost £35 million though probably around 20-25
He's got a great eye for goal and would love having the playmaking talent we've got behind him!

Cavani is an all round beast! would be more expensive but he's definately got what it takes to succeed at Chelsea, quick, strong, tall, great in the air, tracks back, and knows where the net is

I'd go for Cavani if i had the choice but i wouldn't say no to Lewandowski either
