Plenty of people posting their views on this sight has a great outlook for Chelsea but we all have live with the fact that Abramovich has cut costs and no big name signings or big money signings that is will not be arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Last season Chelsea were breathtaking in all competitions except for the UCL. The main reason for this was because they had quality in depth. They had a decently sized squad with alot of top class experienced players like Ballack, Deco and Carvalho. Unfortunately time had run out on them and paying each player 6-7mil per season considering they were 32 + years was not in Abramovich's plans.

At the end of the clear out during the summer, Chelsea registered the smallest squad in the Prem. Chelsea recruited a few players with a couple of youngsters being promoted this summer and none have an impact whatsoever(if Benayoun was fit probably). What Chelsea needs is more depth and quality players in doing so. They desperately need another defender as Carvalho has gone and not been properly replaced. I do not know whether Ivannovic is a CB or a RB although he's grown into a fantastic player.

They need depth in defense, midfield and attack as we have not been able to fully trust our youngsters as yet. Ferreira should be released and a replacement in the form of Van Der Weil being brought in and not Srna. Bosingwa should renew his deal but if his demands become too extravagant he may leave. Ivannovic should move back to CB and should rotate with Alex and Terry also Bruma should get more game time(how else is he going to be developed).

In midfield I still don't think that Ballack and Deco were properly replaced. If Ramires was the replacement well you got it wrong Chelsea scouts. Anchelotti initially wanted either Schweinsteiger or De Rossi to replace Ballack and Ozil probably for Deco. Schweinsteiger might be available but his price tag and wages might be too much for this new Chelsea although I hope Abramovich makes an exception. We need a midfield maestro, someone who can rotate with Essien and Mikel and also young. I would say either Ever Banega, Nuri Sahin, Toni Kroos or Armin Bacinovic.

As for attack Chelsea are fairly decent although they are all in their thirties which is not a great sign. We again need a quality player to rotate with the front three especially if the young and talented Borini leaves. Sturridge and Kakuta are good enough to play more but they are more the future whereas Kalou is a great squad player. I think Luis Suarez is the ideal candidate because he fits the criteria for a great striker and he's not too costly for us both wages and price tag wise. Although Romelu Lukaku will be heavily watched by the club.

To conclude Chelsea has great squad and all they need to do maintain the fitness of each player with that blooding the future i.e Kakuta, Van Annholt, Mceachran etc. They really need depth and with quality in depth and right management I know for a fact that Chelsea will win the UCL and maintain their domestic honors. What are your thoughts editor? {ed's note - I think you have summed it up very nicely, the players have been allowed to grow old together. But I think you will find Roman decided to invest in the Sports Science side of the club in the hope of finding the elixir of life and keep them playing forever. He expects to see players continuing their career into their mid-30s to keep costs down and save having to replace them all in one go.}

Hey Ed, do you think Carlo is trying to mould Josh McEachran into a holding midfielder and Gael Kakuta into central attacking midfielder? {ed's note - not sure about McEachran holding, he just seems to be playing him as a playmaker, not really a true holding player. As for Kakuta, he played centrally for France and played very well there.}

In Chelsea's time of crisis trusting the youngsters is all they should do. After next weeks clash with Newcastle Micheal Essien will return from suspension but Chelsea definately needs to win this fixture to stay top. So a possible solution is changing the formation to a 4-2-3-1 and start either Mceachran or Kakuta as an attacking midfielder.

- - - - - - - Cech- - - - - -

Bosingwa- -Ivanna- - -Alex- - Cole

- - - - - -Mikel- - -Ramires- - -

- - - - - -Mceachran/Kakuta- - -

Anelka- - - - -Drogba- - - - - Malouda

or possibly continuing using the 4-3-3 but playing Mceachran rather than play Malouda in midfield. Anchelotti has to stop playing wingers more centrally.

- - - - - - -Cech- - - - - -

Bosingwa- Ivanna- -Alex- Cole

- - - - - - -Mikel- - - - - - -

- - - - -Ramires- - -McEachran- -

Anelka- - - - - - - - - -Malouda- -

- - - - - - - Drogba- - - - - - - -

or they could go back to the diamond with Malouda playing as left mid and McEachran or Kakuta behind the striker partnership of Drogba and Anelka.Your thoughts Ed?

{Editor's Note: You are perhaps seeing problems that don't exist. Chelsea are playing fine but have had a couple of poor results. Don't worry about it.}

Ed which defender, midfielder and striker do you think in particular you think Chelsea should or will sign.

{Editor's Note: I don't think we will have a clear idea until the contract renewals are resolved - particularly in defence with Bosingwa and Ivanovic out of contract in the summer.}

It is becoming more clear that abhramovic needs to pull his finger out and give carlo more control of have him leave the club maybe all this bad publicity will make roman realise that he does need to invest more into the team

Chelsea should sign Phil Jagielka for CB, Bastian Schweinsteiger for midfield and Luis Saurez for strike. Your thoughts Ed?

{Editor's Note: I can't see any happening.}

22 Nov 2010 15:40:45

Ed do you think that Abramovich will make an exception and sign Bastian Schweinsteiger with that paying his high wages?

{Editor's Note: I don't think Chelsea are intereted in the player at this time.}

Is it just me or does Roman Abramovich have a habit of pressing the self destuct button when things are going well, part way through the season. .

Chelsea needs a defender, midfielder and a striker especially if young Borini leaves. They will sign Cahill, Mexes or Srna(Ivannovic switches back to CB) for defence, for mid, they will sign Banega, Bacinovic, Schweinsteiger or Kroos and for up top Suarez or Lukaku(if he does not join Madrid). What's your thoughts Ed?

{Editor's Note: There is a chance of one or two of these but most will not be available.}

22 Nov 2010 01:15:15
Hey ED, who would you prefer at right back Ivannovic or Bosingwa?

{Editor's Note: I am comfortable with either there - but both are out of contract in the summer.}

ANCELOTTI: I'M NOT IN FULL CONTROL AT CHELSEA

Carlo Ancelotti has further fuelled Chelsea's crisis by admitting he is not in total control of team affairs.

The injury-hit champions are reeling after three defeats in four Premier League games.

Their lead at the top has gone after successive defeats to Sunderland and Birmingham.

Chelsea's shock reverses have coincided with owner Roman Abramovich ruthlessly axing Ancelotti's popular assistant Ray Wilkins.

Ancelotti, who is said to be "disillusioned" and at lowest point since being at Chelsea, has also been told scout Michael Emenalo has been promoted without the Italian's full approval to help fill the void.

It was put to Ancelotti at St Andrews that the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United would not tolerate such interference from powers above.

Ancelotti responded: "If you have to compare me with Ferguson, it's a different position.

"Ferguson has total control of the team - I have just technical direction. Full stop."

Ancelotti's pointed remark is his strongest reaction to the cut-backs by Chelsea's powerbrokers.

After winning the title last season, Chelsea offloaded Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, Ricardo Carvalho, Juliano Belletti and Deco in a cost-cutting measure that trimmed £20m from the annual wage bill.

But the champions' lack of strength in depth has been exposed due to injuries and suspensions to the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien.

Defender Alex only played in the 1-0 loss at Birmingham after postponing knee surgery.

Assistant first team coaches Paul Clement and Emenalo were in the dug-out with Ancelotti at Brum.

While Wilkins is suing for unfair dismissal after being controversially sacked from his coaching role at half-time during a reserve game.

But Ancelotti again distanced himself from Wilkins' sacking adding: "This is not my decision."

Chelsea will look to respond tomorrow when they host Zilina in the Champions League Group F.

THE EVIDENCE IS BUILDING UP!

Chelsea need an out and out winger hu hos the touchline anyone been linked ed ?

{Editor's Note: No out and out wingers at all, and I can't really see one coming in as Chelsea use a 4-3-3 with attacking fullbacks.}
