We have to be honest with ourselves today and not let the win fool us.

Teams are creating bucket loads of chances against us and Watford could easily have been 4-1 up before we made it 2-2. Richarlison missed when it looked easier to score and then he missed another albeit a more difficult header. But if those chances went in we couldn't have said Watford didn't deserve it because they fully outplayed us at times.

Yet somehow here we are with a 4-2 win and things suddenly do not look so bad, especially with United losing today.

We certainly need a big improvement over the next few weeks though, because we will not keep getting lucky like we have against Roma and Watford. The chances we're giving our opponents is the most worrying thing, and our forward play isn't exactly flowing right now either.

But at the end of the day a win is a win and today showed that we never give up no matter what, which is always good to see.

100%. People on this site are so fickle and get carried away. We were poor at stoke And won 4-0 and people were saying we were going to win the league again, we'll look how that turned out. We haven't turned a corner and we need to improve quick.

This is a great opportunity to see players that wouldn't normally get a chance. Ampadu, Bats and Musonda.

we are not. going to win the league this . so be it. But let's be positive and get behind our boys.

When fit id love to see 3 in midfield.
Bakayoko Kante Drinkwater.

Cahill and bakyoko not best of games, one probably due to fitness other confidence maybe, rollercoaster of a game but the result is important not the performance, rest some players and chance for conte to really use some youth. Willian get some form back mushonda ampadu michy Christensen Rudiger Kenedy all hopefully start v Everton and drinkwater get ten min cameo, fans showed conte how much we supported him which is always nice, United haven't looked good since playing team not in bottom 7,

Shoutouts to Pedro, Willian, Luiz and Michy they all won us the game. Zappacosta as well.

Fabregas played well as did Cahill. Bakayoko was again poor who on earth said he was an upgrade on matic?!? Hopefully he'll get there though let's push on to next week ktbffh.

Think Cahill played quite badly today, actually.

ho was supposed to be left centre-back when Watford scored that simple 2nd goal - oh of course, it was Cahill.

21 Oct 2017 16:56:53
I don't understand understand why Cahill is always the scapegoat. Cahill was clearly covering Bakayoko's error and not tracking back.

21 Oct 2017 17:11:14
Cahill didn't play well. He was completely out of position for the second goal.

THANK GOD for today's result.

It wasn't Cahill or any of defenders. Bakayoko have lost the ball 3 times during 8 minutes period on 40 yards away from our goal.

Yea u are right, Bakayoko lost the ball easily.

Biggest need? Strengthening both defensive and attacking options in midfield. Is Bakayoko fully fit yet? Anyway, I lost count of his errors yesterday.

What a difference Pedro made today - clearly our best player. Brave and wise decision to put him at wingback. Great to see Michy score, hope other people than me will soon realise that he brings a lot to our squad and should be given more chances, and definately not be sold or part of our loan army. We got lucky today though. Poor game from Rüdiger, Cahill, Alonso and Cesc. Also Bakayoko struggled, but not a lot of support from Cesc.

bakayoko at 21 will probably take a season to adapt like pogba its a tuff league he just looks a little off the pace not much infairness but just a little slow off d ball hel improve. i do feel wel need to improve on fabregas do in the long run and our defence looks so poor aswell lately hopefully wel sort that . on a bright note well done michy im d first to say i don't think he's good enough for us but delighted he took his chance today. morata just looks a little off d pace after his injury hopefully hel be back to his better form soon an michy will start v everton now in the cup as a reward for rescuing the team today.

That Watford goal sums up events lately, luck against us, actually playing ok, Morata with the winner. 🤞.

Are you sure? We win 4-2 and are obviously pleased but we have lost our defensive capabilities and the formation has been found out; we look like strangers playing together and we are seriously short of a captain. Luck went our way but that was not a good performance by any stretch of one's imagination.

21 Oct 2017 13:55:32
No we’re losing and he’s taking our best forward off also keeping the same formation that is working Pedro will probs be off next who scored for Willian who’s been terrible for last month the man knows one way to play if it does happen he’s not a clue we’re terrible no confidence and I don’t see him running up and down touch line now clueless.

Agree1 Disagree3

21 Oct 2017 15:16:56
Who are you calling clueless Nobby? He made the right substitutions at the right time which won us the game and consolidates a top 4 spot. Before the substitutions we were poor. Managers have big decisions to make and he got those substitutions spot on.

First half we going in we were unlucky to concede that late, collapsed after break, think it comes down to not having the players, bakyoko was poor and needed time to adjust, at the moment his been chucked in probably not 100 and playing 3 games a week, willian form been bad so only leave Pedro and hazard who’s not long been back and a striker who is only any good off the bench,

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Oct 2017 17:48:52
😂😂😂😂😂😂 bring Carlo home if we play like that against a top side we would of been 4-1 down how about getting the team and formation right the first time same players that were awful midweek.

Tom, these youngsters need to understand what it was like supporting Chelsea in the decades before Roman. Some great memories but not very often.
The muddy pitches, the freak Boxing Day results when everyone had been on the booze on Christmas Day. Bobby Tambling, Charlie Cooke, Peter Osgood, chopper Harris the list goes on. The cats display in front of the Kop, David Webbs winner against Leeds in the replay, chopper Harris trying to cut George Best in half when George scored that great goal in the mud. Now the list of great times and memories is endless because of continual success, but we always supported the team, when we were a long way from being a top team.
Liverpool under Shanks and Paisley were the top team, and their older supporters must have endless amount of happy memories, the same with united under sir Matt with Best, law and Charlton. Top teams in England and Europe, and we could only dream of such times, until Roman came along.

Well said Sid, I have supported Chelsea 50 plus years and until Roman came we flirted with success but you supported them through good and bad including relegations, more than one I hasten to add. So for us these are great times and we realise we won't win the league every year but 5 in what 14 years is brilliant. The double, the champions league. I have seen all this, my brother went everywhere with Chelsea from the late 60s to 2003 when he died of cancer, so never saw us win the league.
So to all those out there who are recent supporters enjoy it when we win, but still support us when we aren't doing so well. Under Roman we will always come back.
Remain positive come on Chels.

i suppose its just a case of been so used to sucess an when we go from strolling a league to flopping once again d season after its hard to wonder why but i definetly laid back a bit myself towards criticism.

Agree2 Disagree0

Two excellent posts which would resonate with TomB. Generally however, our generation do not support Chelsea through rose tinted glasses where we are upset every time someone criticises players or a performance, we have been used to the ups and downs and missed opportunities. Roman has propelled us into the upper echelons of the Premiership and Europe and along with it our expectations but even he and his management make mistakes and this forum is for opinions from supporters, none the club will listen to, and it would be an odd forum if we all agreed. We will always support our lifetime club but will always feel we know where they are going wrong (or right) and express as much.

I remember standing on that ridiculously large terracing at Charlton to see Clive Walker keep us in the old 2nd division.

It’s just baffling how we always seem to slump terribly after winning a title the last two times. Both times it’s partially down to a lack of signings. Now I don’t doubt the board tried their hardest this year to get everyone Conte wanted but it’s still incredibly frustrating that when we seem to building up steam and possibly being able to compete with the like of Barca/ Real/ Bayern we take 2 steps back.

Now home having watched a fantastic comeback by the boys in blue.
We are lacking confidence at the back and at times looked very shaky but we found a way to win. That’s why we’re CHAMPIONS.
We will all have different opinions about the performance today and that’s what makes this site worth reading.
Just for the record I thought Willian played well when he came on and I’m so pleased for Batman.
Guys, be as critical as you like about whatever you like but PLEASE offer your idea of a practical solution as well as the criticism!
We can all now have a good weekend.

MissDW- That Valley had some steep terraces as well! Clive Walker was very under rated, his goals to games for a winger was very good.
