Right chelsea's main problem is that they have no wingers everyone wants to cut in, they need a winger like jesus navas or pablo hernandez even juan mata or a player that will hog the touchline

Hey Ed, who do you think is the best possible target for midfield and defence? {ed's note - well Mexes and Srna would offer the best value, Srna would be a good buy as he would allow Ivanovic to play central or he can play in the midfield when the centre halves are fit. I think a player like Afellay or Emanuelson is needed, someone with a bit of pace, but better finishers than Kalou, who is definitely a weak link.}

Hey Ed is this the reason why Chelsea are not spending big because of UEFA's new Financial Fair Play regulations mean clubs must break even over a rolling three-year period or they will not be allowed to compete in the highly lucrative Champions League.

The spectre that looms over Chelsea is UEFA's new rules for financial fair play. From 2012, Europe's governing body will permit clubs to incur losses of only around £38.5m in the two years running up to the 2013-14 season, in which the new rules will be applied.
Failure to comply will result in exclusion from the Champions League, which would be a financial catastrophe for most clubs. Chelsea have made a staggering £493m of losses since Abramovich took over in 2003, including a record loss of £140.2m in 2005.
Since then they have reduced spending. The 2009 accounts showed losses of £44.4m but this year's results, due next month, seem unlikely to report much of a dent in that deficit, given last year's wage bill.

{Editor's Note: Chelsea were already reigning in their spending before the new rules were agreed. It is simply a case of fiscal responsibility and is true of many clubs. The money will be there to support the team as required, but they wish to avoid making losses or at least minimise losses. Additionally, it is not just a case of taking the end of season figures, as many things are excluded from the calsulations (infrastructure, youth development etc.)}

Editor if you watch or listen to the Sunday supplement today then a journalist close to Chelsea will clarify everything i have said today and for the past couple of months.

Chelsea have an 80k a week cap and we have a 20m fee cap.

{Editor's Note: There are many people who think that £18k per week is not so much an embarrassment but an adequate wage on which one could still get buy if they were frugle. Borini seems to be out of the loop - I was told that his agents went to Chelsea with certain demands and that sort of approach was not appreciated. Kakuta returned from international duty early in an attempt vto hammer out a deal at a meeting on Thursday. The terms of that deal are not known to me - but I would not trust anything the NOTW have to say on this matter - the article almost certainly pre-dating the discussions on Thursday - which I understand are on-going.}

I certainly hope so Ed but i would not be so sure, the wage bill does need trimming and i cannot see Chelsea jumping from an 18k a week offer to a 60-70k a week offer like Danny Sturridge is currently getting. I imagine he will be wanting a similar wage and we just cannot afford it. We may have to let some players go to be able to give him his new contract, remember Ed if we give him 60k a week then Bruma, Mceachran, Aanholt, Ramires etc are going to want a 400% raise.

{Editor's Note: I don't think that Kakuta would be offered £60-70k per week, and I am certain that whatever happens in his contract negotiations will not spark a mutiny with the other Chelsea players. These contract negotiations happen all of the time at all clubs. You seem to have some massive downer on Chelsea for some reason that is really not clear to me. Also, I do not really understand why you are quite so obsessed with Chelsea’s finances.}

GAEL KAKUTA & FABIO BORINI COULD LEAVE CHELSEA FOR FREE DURING THE SUMMER - REPORT

Chelsea's young forwards Fabio Borini and Gael Kakuta are believed to have rejected new contract offers from the club.

The News of the World claims that the Blues offered the pair similar contracts worth £18,000 a week, but the duo rejected them and could now be in line to leave the west London outfit for free during the summer.

If Kakuta were to leave the club, it would come as a blow because Chelsea and the player himself were hit with sanctions following what proved to be a contentious and troublesome signing.

Fifa initially judged that Roman Abramovich's outfit had completed an unlawful transfer when the Frenchman joined the Londoners, and doled out punishments to both club and player. The 19-year-old starlet was banned for months while the club had a transfer embargo imposed upon them.

However, these punishments were lifted when the Court of Arbitration for Sport cleared Chelsea of any wrongdoing, determining that the young forward's contract with former club RC Lens was invalid.

Should Kakuta opt to make a move during the summer, Chelsea would be entitled to compensation because of his age. The Independent reports that the club would expect to receive £1 million if the starlet chooses to walk away from Stamford Bridge.

Kakuta has spent three years at Chelsea.

I DID SAY THIS, I UNDERSTOOD THE WAGE OFFERED WAS 25K, I AM SHOCKED THAT ITS JUST 18K. I KNOW TIMES ARE TIGHT AT CHELSEA BUT NOT THIS TIGHT. I KNOW RAMIRES IS ONLY ON 19K A WEEK AND BENAYOUN IS ON 49K A WEEK BUT 18K IS AN INSULT, NO WONDER HE MAY GO TO MANURE.

I ALSO SAID WE WOULD BE ENTITLED TO JUST 1-2M COMPO, 1M FOR A POTENTIAL WORLD CLASS PLAYER IS BAD BUSINESS.

ED THIS IS AN EMBARRISING WAGE IS IT NOT? I KNOW ITS A LOT TO US BUT 18K IS NOT GOING TO KEEP HIM AT THE CLUB IS IT? ARE WE IN THAT OF A BAD SHAPE?
