Good article about Sarri in today's Chelsea Echo.

It's probably the best article I've read about Sarri and his playing ethos.

I agree with virtually everything written. I hope it makes some posters see sense about our manager.

any chance of a few key points from that article tom im interested as im a big sarri fan.

22 Jan 2019 08:39:39
I guess the overall theme is we shouldn’t rush to judge Sarri until this time next year.

I does set out a rationale for that conclusion as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 10:07:26
ithink most of us would of said that bar the anti sarri brigade who will probably never accept him.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 10:38:44
Compared Peps 1st season to Sarri up to this point and Sarri is slightly ahead of Pep. Which is excellent considering the squads each manager inherited.

if we get to the cup final and were still in fa cup and europa then it means were being competitive overall which i believe we are and he's doing his best with what he has willian an co just don't have the consistancy needed for his formation or the fight.

This will probably be a very unpopular post but I think we might actually be a better 'team' once Hazard leaves.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Jan 2019 21:37:32
I think we got ourselves into a bad position by being so dependent on Hazard's performances. If there were other players at his level in the team, that would alleviate the responsibility/ restriction that he has.

Look at teams such as Liverpool and Man City, if Salah isn't firing, they have Mane and Firmino. If city doesn't have Aguero, they have Sterling and both Silvas'.

We could do well to reinvest the Hazard fee into 2 or 3 players that could all share the scoring responsibilities. We could also avoid losing Hazard and use funds by selling other players to help Hazard and the core of the team overall. He's been crying out this to happen since Diego left, I'm just not sure that is what will happen. We should enjoy him while he is still in blue, we've been spoiled to have him!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I think you’ll find and God hope it never happens but without Salah I think we’d be profoundly less effective. I’m not sure Lalana or Shaq bring to the table what the Egyptian king does. Players move on and dispensable. If hazard moves I’m sure in time you’ll replace him with another idol.

21 Jan 2019 23:22:48
im not sure about that edd wev had such luck with leaders like cech terry cole lampard drogba etc its hard to not agree with me that we never replaced them. we did for s while in terms of costa up top but u can't replace superstars and hazard although tends to be inconsistant he is a super star and a club legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - are you really trying to say Chelsea won’t produce another megastar footballer? I really find that hard to believe mate.

22 Jan 2019 04:23:59
Hazard is a fantastic player but superstar no in my eyes. He’s not mentally good enough.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 08:45:49
Kante. It would make life a lot easier if you tell us the players you do like at Chelsea.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 09:34:40
I like a lot of them mate I love Hazard. But the constant talk gets on me nerves about him leaving. If he doesn’t want to sign then go. There’s only two players I dislike that frustrate me which are Willian and Alonso.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 09:44:26
Kante, ’your not alone with the Hazard boredom and you are echoing the sentiment of a lot of posts about Willian and Alonso.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 13:46:06
Kante i think your post isn't all that bad. We all love Hazard, however its clear he doesn't want to be at chelsea. If he does stay then its because Madrid don't want him. His press behaviour is poor, his taking liberties knowing the club can't do much given his contract situation. It would cause chaos if someone spoke.

Anyway, if he leaves then it gives the platform for somebody new to be the next idol. We may play better when we are less reliant on Hazard. We may play poorly without him. Biggest idol for any club is a striker and we need a top one at the bridge.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 20:34:43
Agree totally, KK - we should have cashed in for big bucks last summer - I love Hazard but the 'will I, won't I? ' game is wearing thin.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2019 20:29:41
You are very right CFCShak, I don't think anyone loves Hazard more than me, sometimes i feel my heart is about to stop with the talk or thought of him leaving Chelsea, but I must confess that i am tired of his interviews (like you put it- taking liberties knowing the club won't do him nothing- an attitude seems to be common with some Belgian players these days) . He has my blessing to go if he wants to leave.

In Nigeria there's a saying we echo which is, "SOLDIER COME SOLDIER GO BUT BARRACKS REMAIN". So good luck to Hazard if he wants to leave cos another great soldier will come to Stanford Bridge after him.

Well, morata seems to be a athletico player, he has/ had almost everything to be a star at Chelsea. Age, speed skill technique Ariel ability, size, but mentally he just wasn't ready for a club like ours, he suited the bench at Madrid, if he comes one and scores then great but if he didn't he was only the back up option. Won lots without contributing to Madrid and when it come to being the number one and having the pressure and responsibility he folded, makes you realise that players like Ronaldo Messi benzema Cavani Suarez Higuain etc and there careers that the never let there head drop and keep going, I really do hope he does well athletico and loved the goals he did get whilst here,

Ashley Cole joined Lamps at Derby then. Don’t watch the MLS so have no idea if he’s completely shot or not but I’d love him to have a great 6 months there.

Hi Ed002 (no offence to other Ed's but this is based on previous insight he's offered) - I know you don't want to participate in transfer rumours etc on here and that's fair enough, but I wondered if you'd be willing to provide anything on Chelsea's potential plans when it comes to a DoF or equivalent? Things don't look particularly coherent at the club at the moment, with Sarri hammering square pegs into round holes - I wondered if there was any plan to recruit a formal Emenalo successor still?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have continued to look and have spoken with possible candidates - and it remains a priority.}

21 Jan 2019 16:07:36
edd do you what happened with tbe stadium plans are they still on hold.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They are on hold.}

21 Jan 2019 16:39:18
thanks edd for your response.

22 Jan 2019 18:27:49
Ed 002
Is appointing a DOF really such a difficult task?
Obviously I don't know but I would have thought it easier than completing a transfer for example.
Meanwhile the club invest multi millions apparently with no coherent plan in place.
Seems a very odd approach from a business turning over £400m or am I missing something?
Many thanks
T.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are missing something. The structure of the club needs a DoF with the knowledge of the game and the people in it. It is not easy to find the right person, and then have them agree to join.}

21 Jan 2019 15:31:41
edds will odoi push for a january move or is he happy to tip away until the summer and force a move away den.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no one can answer that, not even the lad himself will know for sure what he will do. It is a personal decision and I am sure he will change his mind a number of times between now and when he signs a contract with whoever he chooses.}

21 Jan 2019 15:53:59
ya would it be dair to say the club will refuse to sell now in january of the hope sarri can get him more game time if he keeps proving himself in training etc and via more game time theyl hope hel change his mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2019 14:44:26
It's strange how impatient we are. Sarri did not have a full preseason with the squad, not only because he arrived later than hoped, but some players were also on break from the World Cup.

The biggest issue is that we don't have an elite striker. I tried to believe in Morata, but it just hasn't worked out and I wish him all the best. Higuain has the tools to be an every day striker for us and I think that'll make a huge difference.

Jorginho is tired and it's showing. Getting a back-up/ competitor will bring the best out of him. Maybe Rabiot on a cheap or Coutinho?

It's not the end of the world. We are in a rut, it's not ideal and we do look particularly poor. The response from David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, mainstays in the team, have shown support to Sarri after his press conference. That in itself should be encouraging news.

Better times are on the way, let's stick through this patch of mediocrity and give the club the extra bit of support that they need right now.

KTBFFH.

Matt, your optimism is well founded and lots of what you say are completely agree with but I have this feeling that we have had what some might refer to as bad apples in our club for some time.

I haven’t got a clue if I’m right and it’s only a feeling but all three of our most recent managers have made some sort of reference to this problem and I think it’s about time the club, if there is a problem, supports the manager.

I agree 100% the club is going through a transition and I agree Sarri requires more than a season to be judged.

Jeez this place has become pretty damn toxic and petty. Too many fans that have had success for far too long and can't cope with the fact that we're in a transition period. The lack of strategic direction and long term planning at a board level has left us in this position but for God sake we're still competing in all comps, have some faith and get behind the team!

It's sad when I find myself checking the Liverpool and Arsenal page more than the Chelsea one. They have great communities on their page with minimal bickering compared to this one. Come on boys let's all get along, we all love Chelsea don't we? Everyone has their own opinion and let's respect it no matter what.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jan 2019 13:26:12
It’s a banter site and I don’t mind some of the “toxic” comments as long as there is a degree of substance and a suggestion for a cure.

I go onto some of the other teams sites and i have posted on those sites. I’ve also seen posts on those sites that make our posters look like saints.

For the last few weeks we have been playing average football, that has put posters backs up and I guess that’s understandable. It shows that at least the fans have passion!

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jan 2019 14:03:32
What comments are toxic exactly? We’ve all got an opinion and we aren’t all going to agree. That’s what’s good right? It’s not like people are getting abusive and personal! It’s a good thing that this page is active even without the info from Ed’s.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2019 15:04:09
Agreed Tom - if you looked at the Arsenal site during Wenger's last 2 or 3 seasons or Liverpool's pre-Klopp, you'd think our site was made up of angels!

We’ve been in a transition from when Jose left first time it’s boring we are not what we were through transfers and taking bad advice.

21 Jan 2019 12:38:50
Spot on Ed001.I think your view refarding Kepa is good He will most certainly become one of the best. like Cech! . I don't think we overpaid if you look at his age and the keeper that he can and hope will become. World class in a year or two. Prem is not for everyone but most of the Prem keepers are top class. Do you think a youthkeeper should come through for next season as a backup. I do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think you are better with experienced back up to work on his game with him. While the rules allow out youth team players can go out on loan for regular game time.

By the way, I wasn't trying to suggest you overpaid, just that people should not judge him on the price as it is partially paying for potential.}

21 Jan 2019 13:14:45
Fans should actually not be concerned when it comes to players and there price. Even there weekly income. Career im sport is limited as a player anyway and should be a competative sport for entertainment. Ed001 you really keep this site entertaining.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}
