I would say only the two French guys on the list are possibilities. No chance we'll be able to lure Vidal or Schweinsteiger from the biggest clubs in Italy and Germany. From what I've heard and seen Capoue is the better option

Anyone else get annoyed by Souness last night? Instead of praising the goal of the season (no doubt) from a 21 year old kid making his full debut all he could say was he didn't mean the touch. Bloody person, footage shows Oscar took the touch then he turned Pirlo and shot without looking away from the ball. Souness was just sour, as always. He's a shocking pundit, Ruud must hate having to sit next to that muppet every other wednesday.

He's just a Chelsea hating bag and always has been so I wouldn't let it annoy you to much. The rest of the sky team obviously don't like him to much either so hopefully not long till he's no longer on sky.. I actually don't think I've ever heard him say a good word about us.

just read an intresting article abou british midfielders in the prem. scholes, noble, britton, lamps.......few about 6 others, anyway lamps has lost the ball 21% of the time hes the 2nd worst. and in the final 3rd hes the worst at loseing possession. true facts. just aswell they didnt add foreign players mikels record would be embarassing. BLUEBOY1

Believable6 Unbelievable0

All you have to look at is Franks goal scoring record and the other facts don't matter so much anymore ;)
Marley

Agree6 Disagree3

His goal scoring record isn't doing to well this season. Zero goals from open play.

Agree4 Disagree3

Most of Franks goals come from penaltys. At least 50% I'd say.

Firstly , Ramires on the wing is a big no-no. As great a player he is, he simply isn't a winger. We have better alternatives á la Marin Moses. Should be slotted in the middle

Secondly, regulars will no that I want luiz in the holding role, but why not have Oscar. His ball distribution is unbelievable, he could pull the strings left right and centre. People forget that his tracking back and defending is a big strength for him
As soon as Oscar mata hazard marin start clicking we will be invincible, with or without mikel

Cech
Azpi Cahill terry cole
Ramires Oscar
Hazard Mata Marin
Torres

Thirdly, a song for Oscar to replace the kalou one

He comes from brazilia
Oscar , Oscar !
He curled the ball right under the cross bar
Cross bar ,
He snubbed the spurs and came to us
And now he's proved us all the fuss
And that's why we love our Oscar !

One fact is that due to Oscar our attacks looked sharp ,he was the link up between Torres ,Hazard and the midfield.
When ever we broke we broke with pace and skill.
I personally thought that the link up Torres, Hazad, Oscar and Ramires was sometimes breathtaking. It was just the final ball that was missing some times.
I mean if Ramires could have hit the shot instead of passing the ball to Torres when he was in a better position we could have scored.
When Mata instead of taking the shot would have pulled it back for Torres ,when he was free and Buffon was out of position ,we could have easily scored.
We should also some times cross less in the air as there was only Torres who was in the area challenged by three defenders.
Sometimes we should try to pull the ball back as sometimes Torres or Hazard are near the edge of the box not on the shoulders of the three defenders when they we not getting any change out of the Juve defenders.
So all in all the attack looked look and has a lot of potential ,just the players sometimes need to sometimes make the right decisions .And I guess this comes with the right communication and realizing what the other player is thinking,so the more they play play together the better they get.So the signs are there that we can be awesome.
As for the defense JT looks a bit shaky and is making some rash decisions.Luiz what ever you say of him is brilliant but has to be a bit more consistent. The surprise is Ivanovic, who has been such a good defender, has looked a bit shaky this season at right back.
Cole is brilliant as always.
Mikel and Lamps just do not have the legs
to be effective in that pivot as neither can link up the defense with the attack.
RDM's tactic is also a problem.
So the signs are positive, the players are there,it is all up to RDM .

How come we do not get any penalties where as Man u not only got a penalty but the opposition had two clear cut penalties denied to them!
roan

Believable2 Unbelievable0

We got three penalties in our first three games. Refs probably dont want to give us anymore which is why we havent got them in the last two

Agree3 Disagree1

It's human error. Referee's can't see everything and always make correct decisions. The Hazard one against Juve would have been a tough one to give from the refs position. You have to remember that we get great camera angles and slow motion replays. The officials have neither.

Some of the officials get good the one behind the goal must of had a great view. I must say though the officials behind the goal are SH**.

now i know why WBA got rid of RDM i was a big, give AVB a chance last year.I think AVB would of done better with this squad of players than RDM,
Last night he was tactically inept it is plain to see mikel and lampard dont cut it and this is against JUve at home QPR READING and WIgan yes we havent lost these games but they look slow and past it. with the players we have we should have won all these games.Ivanovic lampard ramires bertrand hazard [second half] were all playing in wrong positions.i dont think marin and moses were purchased for bertrand to play left wing.RDM is doing the complete opposite to avb hasnt the guts to drop lamps or terry.mikel is clearly not good enough and should be replaced by romeu, the only reason he cant be playing is becoz of his barca buy back clause.lampard is not there on performances surely, ramires is prime for that position.Bertrand is such a good player but will have to wait for his chance when cole is rested or injured.
I think cahill is our best cb now and should be playing instead of terry i.e CL last year.Mikel got the stick for juve goals last night but terry was to blame to he was slow and made wrong decisions.Cant believe moses didnt come on last night for torres or dare i say it hazard neither were having a good game.there is no shame in that but after 80 mins it was clear torres or hazard were not contributing much so make a change. What did our manager do he took off ramires for bertrand and oscar for mata.i can understand the oscar one he got clattered but why take off our most dynamic midfielder for a left back.Same old chelsea scared to drop the old boys and why has azpill not played yet if you ask me ivanovic had a stinker last night and isnt in form i think he is a good player but if your not in form you should be dropped.i reckon if drogba hadnt left he would of come on last night.WHY CANT WE MOVE ON drop terry drop lamps mikel and ivan and see what the new boys can do.there is still experience in cech cole rami torres cahiil and luiz all CL world cup euro cup Pl winners or plenty of experience in these comps.
MY team would be
cech
azpill luiz cahill cole/bertrand

romeu ramires

moses/oscar hazard mata/marin

torres/sturridge
i cannot see a weak link in this team and if rotated like utd do then everyone is happy morale is good and everyone is fit at the end of the season.
Rant over
gareth 1973
ps i think pep will be our manager or harry by crimbo if this keeps up 100 mill spent for people to play out of position look ordinary and we havent played a real decent prem team yet.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

We need someone who is half avb and half RDM... I'd go for guus hidink, used and rotated., got on well with players an shouted at them when needed!

Agree7 Disagree0

I guess you wern't saying this about RDM when he guided us to the champions league.

Agree4 Disagree5

Yeah I was one who said it then aswel, I'll support every Chelsea manager from avram grant to RDM point is now we haven't got centre price in drogba and this year relying more on tactical changes and formations RDM not the best at it, every comment on here is about mikel.. He constantly cost us games or points and when we win he doesn't do mug then but only bloke who can't see it is RDMx lamps, I love the bloke but is bit part player not bloke who should cut out and start up attacks!

Agree6 Disagree0

I think a lot of people were sceptical about RDM, even after the CL win. Remember Terry calling the orders from the sideline against Napoli? The old guard guided the team to CL victory, through sheer grit and determination. The old problem is they won't drop themselves and it's starting to cost us.

Lamps can definitely still do a job for us, but not where he's playing. Let him come on with 30 mins left in his usual position, but the only place he'll get a full game is in DM, so he'll do it.

There's no consistency in the managers and coaches and therefore no relationships develop. There's no one to sit these guys down, man to man and let them know that they passed their peak.

Agree5 Disagree0

Guided right, thats only thru the eyes of SOME Chelsea fans. For everyone else he backed us in and luckily at that. RDM is blue for life and i know he cares about the club, he should just do the right thing and step down if because CLEARLY this job seem too big for him. No pressure last year with no expectations after taking over, can't seem to think straight with pressure to succeed this season.

Agree3 Disagree1

AVB is not doing much better at Tottenham so far. His tactical decisions there have been questionable too. I think we should wait till we've played 10 games this season to judge RDM. Hopefully he's just taking his time and getting our new players fit and working together before playing them?

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Sep 2012 13:32:13
At 2-1 up at half time we should of taken Mikel off and slotted Ramiries alongside Frank, then put Moses on right to push their wing-back back taking the pressure off that side of the pitch! Hindsight is a great thing, Foresight is what wins football matches!

I know this sounds really bad but i know the only way mikel is not going to play is if he gets injured. Romeu is just younger and more talented than mikel ever will be. Romeu needs to be given a chance and so does sturridge.

Blue con

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Hopefully Romeu will play in the next game or two. Mikel cannot keep making mistakes without being replaced.

The only way mikel will even have a chance of being dropped is if we get to the champions league final and he gifts the other team a goal and even then im not convinced di matteo would drop him

I simply don't get it, what does Mikel do to play every game. He is (in simple words) a pathetic passer of football. Sometimes he keeps the ball too long with himself and allows opponents to get the ball back. Almost 90-95% of the passes he does are either behind a player or too far away (as we saw the pass for 2nd Juve goal).

I dont know what RDM sees in him. We have players like Romeu on bench, Ramires playing in a position which is not his best. Both these players are way better than Mikel. Please please please RDM give Romeu a chance and may be we will see some clean sheets this season.

Always Blue

Believable6 Unbelievable0

RDM plays him because he likes him. Smae reason why he constantly played Kalouless last year.

Yes im sure they are both really nice guys but you should be picking your best team not your best friends.

Sev

Agree6 Disagree1

No he is played because the squad does not have the depth to replace him. Romeu should take the position in time but as this time RDM liks the physicality of Mikel.

Agree0 Disagree4

Physicality? He's slower than dirt and I rarely see him make a thunderous tackle. I just don't know where you're coming from.

Tk

Agree4 Disagree0

Also the only reason we're in this position withonly 2 options is because we sent Bison away. RDM is just not a good coach period, look at line-ups, formations, tactical adjustments during game....etc.

I had a feeling from the way he handled his line-up during the summer tour that we would never see Hazard, Mata, Oscar and Ramires on the pitch together this season. What good coach can't figure out how to get his best players on the pitch, even if 2 of them plays the same position. I would bet my life that any other current EPL manager would have had those 4 on for at least 1 game thus far in the season. So f-ing frustrating.

20 Sep 2012 11:31:17
I have only posted a few times on the Banter page and I always back any team RDM puts on the pitch, but after last nights game I have to say Mikel is now really a liability to our squad and its time he was dropped, not only was he the fault for Juve second goal he never passed the ball forward. Please RDM bring Luiz into holding midfield position with Terry and Cahill in defence.

Marksnes

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Let's just play Romeu and Ramires there instead hey? Rather than putting Luiz in there who has similar issues!

Sometimes I think Torres works to hard.. Hear me out,, he try hard to get in game and in ball an funds him self on ball out wide or dropping deep.. I feel it's pivot players being to slow so everyone drops back to get ball and leaves Torres isolated,
Mata and hazard played 4 passes together and mata hit side netting with shot., Torres was in centre with yards if space.. I feel for him, no wonderhe was angry v QPR, works hard in my opinion
Mattm

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Yh but torres can stand on the other side doesnt mean hes in a better position from where mata shot from cuz mata would of had to do a pass past two of there players. I think mata done the right thing by shooting.

First off I understand there is some necessity to be loyal to the players playing at Chelsea but there is nothing disloyal about honesty…

Whenever you see Torres pick the ball up he immediately turns, head down, and charges at the defenders; 90% of the time this results in him losing possession. In other systems this isn't a massive problem but in the role is supposed to be playing it not only effects him but also the three attacking midfield players behind him.

If you are utilising a 4-2-3-1 formation the forward needs to be able to pull the ball in, hold onto it, and wait for the three supporting players to join him. At this point the ball can be laid off and the forward can make his way into the box to meet any passes/crosses. Not only does Torres not hold the ball up but when not in possession, or does actually pass the ball, he constantly wants to run the channels when he needs to be in and around the box. This is fine if there is another forward in the box but not when you are the lone forward.

I honestly don't think Torres is a bad footballer, but his style of play just doesn't suit the team.

I think a swap deal between us and At. Madrid for Torres and Falcao would be beneficial to all parties (except maybe At. Madrid).

John Obi Mikel!! All I'm going to say is that once again a misguided pass from him results in us conceding a goal and dropping points, the time must have come for Oriol Romeu to show what he can do! He must play vs Wolves!

Surewould

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Mikel isnt going to improvre. I think what we see now is the best he is going to get and that in a word is inconsistent.

Lamps has now played in too many games as well and the two deeper midfielders have o be op of their game, all the time and alas his energy and performance levels are not the same as they were.
Would expect about 5 changes in the starting 11

Agree3 Disagree0

The type of striker you're talking about is a target man. So you want a younger Drogba? My only critique of Torres would be that he should stay around the 18 yard box more. He drops too deep sometimes but I suppose that's probably from lack of service.

Agree2 Disagree0

IF,what ur saying is true Surewould then some of that blame, and more than 50%, has to fall on RDM who sets the formation. Either RDM disagrees with u, doesn't know, or has not properly communicated to his player what his responsibilies in the formation are. Even if Torres was bad at it, surely you would see him trying it most of the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive been loyal to every player since the abromovic era. but mikel should of left with kalou, bosinwa, essien, drogba. so should have jt & lamps. in my opinion. new era here now, to me thy are the players holding us back. we dont wanna play long ball anymore, the pivot 2 have to be quick or a good at reading the game defensively. lamps and mikel are complete oposite. time to move on with courtios, luiz, cahill, piazon, oscar ramires mata marin hazard mceachran romeu. bertrand. the old guard completed their mission.

Not one to be critical, but RDM needs a wake up call with regards to Mikel. Yes he is good at winning the ball but he gives it away far to cheaply for my liking. The midfield should be:

Lamps rami
Hazard Oscar mata

Don't know why the club let 2 of our holding midfielders go without any back up. Bit like the striker situation. If the manager doesn't realise this then it's going to be a painful season. We are a good team/ squad but with 2 more players we could be great.

Overall I don't think we had a bad game. The referee made a few bad calls, there were a couple of individual mistakes from players and some questionable tactical decisions.
When I first saw the line-up I actually thought we were going to play a 4-3-3 or a 4-3-2-1 with Lampard in a more advanced role with Ramires and Mikel in the pivot roles. Tactically we should have set out differently. Lampard and Mikel were overrun in midfield and Ivanovic didn't really know who to mark since Juve had no wingers. Torres had a fairly quiet game in terms of goals but I think he played well considering we were playing against the best defense in Europe. So I'm not too sure why some people seem to be slating him. However I would like to see him stay on his feet a bit more as he went to ground a bit to easy, obviously trying to draw a foul. Oscar had a great game and so hopefully we will see him start more games. Mikel's mistake led to the last goal and overall didn't have a great game. Our substitutes were stupid, Bertrand for Ramires made no sense, and taking off Oscar just confused me. But as I said, overall not a bad performance.
