I fully trust conte and the decisions he makes, but like many fans I don't understand why we are holding back on players like Mendy. We are watching Man City constantly get rejected with their attempts to sing him and eventually they will probably get him. Apparently we are being informed about his situation so we are clearly interested. I know £50m is a lot but instead of faffing around with Sandro for £65m and it's most likely we will not get him, why not give Monaco what they want, sign a 22 year old, brilliant defender who will be in our team for the next 10 years or so.

{Ed018's Note - maybe City is willing to offer a bigger contract. Maybe he has no interest in coming to Chelsea. It's not just about who offers up a bigger transfer fee. That being said if he wants to come here I would sure like to see Chelsea pay what's needed to get him if Sandro isn't possible.}

Let's be honest though Mendy is a very good player but he's not on Alex Sandro's level defensively. Mendy is also injury prone. Sandro should still be the main target and we can surely use Matic to persuade them.

Of course Sandro is better than Mendy. We should still try for sandro, however if we fail to get sandro and man city gets Mendy then we will be loosers for LB/ LWB position.
Also I believe Mendy will be more interested to join Man City than CFC because of wages they will offer and we do have Alonso so competition at our club for position. At city he will have free run as LB.

I know they are 2 top top managers but sometimes hat has a swing on things too. Sometimes players want to play under Pep due to his tactics etc.

Ed018, any chance of that write up that you said you might be able to do this week. Thanks dude.

Great signings so far, let's just hope Hazard doesn't disappear off to Real Madrid.

He's staying. Mbappe is Reals numero uno target now.

Does anyone know what our plans with the following players are? :
Jeremie Boga
Tomas Kalas
Matt Miazga
Mario Pasalic
Are we looking to loan out all of these players, or are any of them expected to perhaps be kept around the first team this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2017 22:34:13
Think miazga has gone back to vitesse.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 22:58:56
Boga is most likely a loan which is difficult to predict.
Kalas mentioned last year that he wants stability so I could see him going somewhere permanently, possibly back to Fulham where he had a very nice season.
Miazga will get another loan but I think he ruled going back to vitesse out last year.
Pasalic is an interesting one.

I wouldn't be too upset if the club kept him to be our 4th centre-mid as I think his defensive capabilities are more advanced than Lewis Baker's but he's also performed very well in a number of loans recently and I could see him wanting a permanent move rather than another loan.

Think original list of striker targets had dembele linked strongly. Still interested in getting him eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Jul 2017 22:58:51
Actually Dembele was the only striker that ed002 gave us as a realistic target. He got Bakayoko right, Rudiger was unrealistic to him.

20 Jul 2017 19:00:45
So far very good transfer window for us. We have signed already four players and it's still July.
I think out of four signings three players : Morata, Bakayoko and Rudiger will will start in playing XI, which will be huge for us.
I am not sure but I think all these four signings are Conte's signings and not of our boards.
We are still linked with few more players for different positions.

About CB's and WB's we have right now 7 players ( Considering Zouma leaving on loan) so at least 1-2 new addition will be made in that area.

We play with 2 men midfield. We got 3 players for it ( considering matic to leave) so new addition is required as back up. I don't think we will sign any high profile player for CM position. But expecting another addition as back up or may be someone from youth to be given chance.

Attacking midfield/ Winger's position is the one where I don't think we will invest. But if right player becomes available at right price then Conte/ CFC board might get tempted. Else apart from hazard, Pedro, Willian I think Moses and Musonda can do job as cover.

We play lone striker. We got Morata and do have batshuayi. Also last season Conte played hazard as Striker and it worked. So not expecting any new striker signing.

So overall expecting another 2-3 new signings in this transfer window.

Lewis baker?

Just saw some pictures of Boga in training. In quick succession he seemed to beat Azpi and Kante with the ball.
So yeah, let's trust our young stars in Musonda and Boga. NO more attackers are needed. A wingback and maybe a CM and we're good to go.

Training vs real thing are 2 totally different things.

20 Jul 2017 18:33:31
Agree with CFCADAM. But yes we do not require any further additions in attacking positions, specially given our playing formation.
But if we do sign another attacking player might give us chance to change formation when required.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 18:34:58
Haha I know, Adam :-P However I do believe we don't need another attacker. We've got Morata (nearly), Batshuayi, Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Boga and Musonda. 7 players for 3 positions. That's plenty. Boga and Musonda are world class talents and just need an opportunity.

Just seen on sky sports Morata arriving at Heathrow and one thing he already has over Costa is that he can actually speak English. I don't want to put Diego down as he has been great for us, winning 2 league titles in 3 years. But he's never seemed as though he really wanted to be here and never attempted to pick up the language. Morata will hopefully thrive under Conte and I'm now starting to look forward to the new season with optimism (especially with a few more squad signings to hopefully come) .

That has to be a huge plus being able to communicate clearly with your colleagues and referees and I for one am very pleased we have an intelligent footballer as our striker. If we are going to pull one more 'rabbit out of the hat' Alex Sandro would be the one, exceptional asset. Still baffled as to why we would want Danilo, his defending is awful and if Man City get him then that would fit in with their love of awful defending!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 06:54:21
So Assuming Morata deal goes through which seems likely i'd assume we will still be in for a LB, CM, ST

Could any of the Eds confirm 1. if the club is targeting a player for each of those positions?

2.Any idea what players are still of any interest had a look through the search bar but most of the names mentioned previously we have signed or have gone elsewhere or like Veratti look almost impossible to get.

Also please come back ed002 your sincerely missed here your info on CFC is second to none i'm sorry we can't do more to help cut out the trolls but a lot of us really do appreciate the effort and time you put in could we please have just one more chance to not ask any stupid questions regarding money or length and timing of transfers or anyone being bone idle lazy and not checking the search engine, hopefully people will now realise any kind of foul mouth or abusiveness will not be tolerated in the slightest and i really mean no disrespect to Ed001 or Ed018 really appreciate your efforts aswell in particular ED018 who has stuck with us through the mess but we could really do with you back Ed002 are you willing to add anything in terms of anything going on we are unaware of?

if not won't ask again and im sure you'll be back when you feel its right but long has you know some of us are grateful.

and again thanks to all the Eds and regular posters who have kept the thread going even whilst some have deliberately tried to disrupt it.

Ed002 will probably return after the summer window, so we'll have to make do without him. Ed001 has replied to my question on the rumors page that the club are looking to get another CM in, so there's that.
And Matt Law has recently stated in an article that the club haven't given up on Alex Sandro just yet. Sandro hasn't signed a new deal with Juve either, so I'm guessing he's open to a move. Maybe we can give them a good deal for Matic if they deal Sandro.
Ed002 in the past has stated that the club are looking to get 2 strikers in this window. Morata is 1, and I'm guessing Moussa Dembele could still be of interest as a 2nd striker coming in. If I worked for the club I'd be taking a good look at Schick. His move to Juve fell through, but maybe it's an issue that can be resolved. He's immensely talented and can play both as a lone striker as well as an inside forward.

Hope this helps, Lampsy.

Well personally I don't think we will go for another Striker.
I think we might sign another attacking player who can play as striker if required.

Hi guys, just thought (probably bit like fantasy football) if Muller would become available would anyone take him?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Jul 2017 06:21:18
No thanks, we play with 3 players upfront. We are getting Morata from Madrid and do have michy as back up.
For wide players we have Hazard, Pedro, Willian and Moses, Musonda can do job as back up.

20 Jul 2017 06:31:27
would anyone take muller hmmm a top class german international who scores no matter where he plays lol that is a tough one who wouldn't take him he is world class.

Agree4 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 06:55:44
TBH Samrat i get what your saying and Muller won't happen but we need at least 3 ST if one gets injured wed have to play one forward in all prem and cup games that's a lot of football.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 08:20:08
Discounting the fact that Muller is a pipe dream and will never happen, you don't say no to a guy of his level if the opportunity to get him presents itself. He's one of the absolute best attacking players in the world. His finishing is great, his technique is surprisingly good, and his football IQ is pretty much off the charts and unparallelled (similar to Lampard's football IQ) .
He'd be a better addition to the team than even Bale or Griezmann in my opinion.

20 Jul 2017 09:47:27
Muller would be a definite yes from me. someone of that quality who can play anywhere across the front line/ attacking midfield areas? Yes, please.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 10:07:29
Of course we should want him for reasons others have given and because or squad still lacks strength in depth esp. when compared to other CL teams, or the Manchester clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 14:29:45
Muller would be great, really great. Obviously not happening though.
