Whenever someone with pace gets a clear run at Cahill and Terry I reckon they have at least a 50% chance of scoring. It worries me I tell you. Filipe Luis is now showing what he brings when he has a run in the side. Most reckon experience wins you the league but what does Cahill bring that Filipe doesn't. Cahills had a bad run and he doesn't deserve to play. I Will always stand by what I said about Ivanovic being a better centre back because he leaves his centre half too isolated at full back when he attacks. If Zouma hasn't for the experience then why not move branna to what I think is his best position as a CB. Then have pace at full backs with Azpilicueta on his favoured right and Luis at LB. I think that would be a more complete back four.

Exactly! people are now realising Cahill and Terry are not up to it in high line, and therefore Cahillneeds to be dropped. Ivanovic or zouma please.

Remember kalas last year never looked in danger at all because he could keep up with the pace so mourinho should of really considered zouma, terry looked tired along with most, passing was so sloppy & Costa looked a bit lost. they did however defend pretty well considering. , apart from mikel he had a howler

Yeah I don't want to hash out the Cahill argument again but it's tough to play a high line consisting of a back four with terry, Cahill, and bran in it. Dave and Felipe at fullback is a must for me but in Jose I trust.

As a whole we're not playing good football but I have to single out Mikel as he adds nothing at all to the team

We have played excellent first half. Do not forget Liverpool is a team which creates a lot of chances. They were unable to create a single chance. This is though game and Liverpool are in excellent form lately. We should be very happy with result.

Mikel, ivanovic having a really bad game. For me Willian is really not the player we need yes he works hard but we are always flat down his flank.

We're top of league there not a great team there an ok team were making them look great. Also what have we created what I have notice even though mikel hasn't played well at all the minute anyone gets past matic/mikel . cahill/Terry just can't cope

The fact that there has not been 1 sub is shocking, considering all we have over the next week is a league 1 caliber team then pool again. What happened to Ramires and Oscar and Remy and Zouma, I thought Jose could have changed the match prior to the score which everyone saw coming.

Agreed we made them look better than they are, sloppy sloppy performance, courtios would probably be the only player that caught the eye for us tonight! Looked a very tired display

We were lucky! Liverpool was better team tonight. They are playing very well lately, plus we played away! So stop moaning! Sterling was trashing both Cahill and Terry if anyone was poor during second it were them.Maybe we played with half strength.
I believe that Mourinho knows what he is doing!

I thought we were poor. Neither Cahill nor Terry had the legs to match Sterling's pace, and with Mikel not playing well, they were left way too exposed. Liverpool's energy and desire and numbers in midfield overrun us. Was surprised Mourinho didn't change anything til the 88th minute or whatever it was. He should have reacted sooner. Put Ramires or Oscar on for Mikel. Think we might need to start Zouma, as although he's still young and inexperienced, he has the pace to match Sterling.

Also one final point, I think the ref caved in way to easily to the home fans. There were quite a few decisions that I felt he waved away or gave cards simply because their fans demanded it.

Off course they out played our midfielders, Liverpool plays with six midfielders, we play with only one striker and he has to deal with 3 CDS which wasn't hard for them. If some of you people have watched WC you could see that in every game teams that played 352 or 361 outplayed opponents which played 4231.Netherlands-Spain, Chile-Brazil, Costa Rica-Italy-Uruguay. Mexico was also impressive in their group.

Our right hand side looked dire! Ivanovic mikel Willian. Schurrle and Dave need to replace will and brana. Mikel doesn't and never had been chelsea standard he needs replacing. But second half Jose sent us out to hold out for clean sheet so he's got to take blame for half of today's result. But second leg at home I'm confident. And I'm sure he while squad are too.

Right side, left side it doesn't matter since every dangerous attack from Liverpool came through middle. Please stop slating Mikel he didn't have a perfect game but he wasn't that bad as some of you want to represent.
Lucas Leiva and Henderson were brilliant! Sterling had bad first half but in the second half he was excellent!
We have a very promising result so stop moaning!

Not sure what MN is on about or who he is really a fan of, that Liverpool team was playing harder than us but should not be in our class atm. And as far as the 352 formation is concerned, you do realize that there is one less defender in the back as a tradeoff for more possession and midfield domination. Germany doesn't play a 352 and they won the WC and United with great attacking talent will be lucky to finish top 4

Absolutely hilarious on the Liverpool page some of their fans claiming it wasn't a pen - COMICAL. Anyways, Schurrle is hugely ineffective on the right wing. the only time you see a good performance from him is when he is cutting in from the left, so would never take Schurrle over Willian on the right. A draw away at anfield is a good result so I wish some people on here would stop being so spoilt and expect the perfect performance week in week out cause that just ain't going to happen in this sport. You can't win a two legged tie in one leg. The game will be completely different at the bridge and significantly easier than tonight. We should progress.

Mn, I will not stop slating Mikel until he's sold! The guy is just not good enough to wear the blue shirt. Mn, who would you rather have: Mikel or Scneiderlin? Nuff said!
