Why is kakuta a striker now

Hi, just wondering if we are after one more striker as only got two. And if there are deals trying to be completed

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You only have one - Demba Ba

Is it just me or was john terry wearing an RDM jacket today on the bench? When they were told to warm up b4 Ba came on sure someone had a RDM jacket on just dint see the face!

Rafa had to start with Torres today I. Order to start with Ba in the cup. Give Rafa the job now rather then another half season of uncertainty. Why would a player sign for Chelsea without knowing who will be manager next season. It is so destabilising.
We will only attract players who come for the big wages. Zero team spirit. Most don't care who is manager as they only came for financial gain.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

I wouldn't be against rafa staying, but I think he's heading back to real in the summer. Hopefully we can have their manager.

Agree1 Disagree1

Rafa is NOT wanted here.

Nothing makes my day like a moaning Alex. Complaing abt the linesman, yet the FA wouldn't do a thing...shows you how he's got the FA in his poockets. Big Sam got charged a couple of days ago for speaking fact.

I feel our real problem is depth when you look at the bench to change a game we don't have a lot, and Ba should play every game for us we need a good 4 new players and about 8 come through the ranks give or take with players leaving in the summer.
One Bomb Tom

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Our squad will be better next year with lukaku, courtois, chalobah, piazon, de bruyne, Kalas and mceachran returning, plus some new additions.

Jordan

Agree8 Disagree0

Agreed it is good, but I personally would like more british players in squad!
One Bomb Tom

Agree2 Disagree1

Like sturridge

Agree3 Disagree2

Yes I was a sturridge fan, but he wasn't the player people hoped he would be, I would like to think the players coming through will be given a fair crack on the whip next season

You don't get suspended for 5 yellows at this stage of the season(I think once you are into January, it goes up to 10 games) He was injured

I believe he he had a knock on his ankle.

Does anyone think David moyes would be a great appointment low/no budget at Everton over achieving and great man management ... About time his given a big challenge

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Think of mark Hughes for example. Had low budget at Blackburn did reasonably well, fast forward to 2012 with qpr buys too many 'good' players. Fails. Azza

Agree4 Disagree2

Ask Ed on Moyes and his coaching approach, apparently he over trains his players especially the youth, just look at Jack Rodwell and Ross Barkley they have a history of injuries and there very young. I don't know if top players would be pulled towards playing for David Moyes compared to a Mourinho, Guardiola or Klopp.

Amazing first half, could have dominated any team if we played like that, should have scored 4-6 with the chances we had. Poor in the second half but still looked like scoring and grinded out a result. The game was run by our midfield for long periods which was great and we should build on this. 2 clinical top strikers (Ba and another) and we are set for next season.

I would have to say Lampard is not good enough to be a regular starter, Chelsea fans have to realise if we don't let him go we will never develop any youngsters in that posistion or play quick football! Lampard will always be a legend but now is time to say goodbye. He's not a holding mid, and I think he will cost us games as he's going for his record.

Sheva 016

Believable19 Unbelievable17

Like he lost us games v stoke and everton away. I agree he's lost his legs a bit, but there's still quality there. If he's willing to accept rolling one year contracts with a lot less of a wage then I think the younger players would also benefit from having him, terry and cole around the training ground.

NWBLUE

Agree9 Disagree14

I would be happy to have him on the bench and come on as a game changer but he sulks like he did with AVB. So I would have to let him go as that is not a good example for the youngsters or team morale.

Sheva 016

Agree13 Disagree6

Shevardnadze 016 talking rubbish, lampard not a good expat me to youngsters your having a laugh! Your a prime example of someone who doesn't understand football I'm afraid. No doubt you believe Torres needs more time?!
Ww

Agree3 Disagree13

I don't believe he should be a starter, I haven't sedn frank give the ball away so much today & southampton. against big teams we would be punished. ramires was the star today. I also don't think torres needs more time he should have packed his bags 12 months ago. BLUEBOY1

Agree9 Disagree0

Fact is, we weren't able to get a new striker in the summer, so we had to stick with Torres. If we had sold Torres we'd only have been left with Sturridge. And whilst not the greatest, he has scored 14 goals.

Agree1 Disagree2

He was one of our best players today!! Original poster is talking crap!

lampard was awful today..he gaved away ball 5 times in the first 15 mts...
SKy is alos having a laugh...how is ramirez MOTM...
Ed..lets be honest..what is he doing in CDM?
he is not good enough...
Wnger did one stuppidity...pushing Wilshere up above his position and adding two bunches in the midfield in first half..and we got away..
When wishere cam down to Deep role..ramirez and lampard were in his pocket..

We need Someone in the middle..Rafa like..mascherano, alonso so much that his game plan is won in the midfield...

we don't have such...

Now ever fan would have realised why Oscar doesn't start and Mosese does...

Agree0 Disagree3

Ramires whilst not the best tackler manage to nick the ball from Arsenal several times and was instrumental in both goals. Whether it was a foul or he dived, regardless of your opinion on that, he is the reason we won.

Happy about today. Managed to win with luiz out and Torres in. I know Torres wasn't as bad as previous weeks but he is nowhere near good enough. That win should guarantee top 4.

2nd rate football in the 2nd half, so frustrating to see us play some fantastic attacking football for the 1st half and then come out 2nd and play hoof and hope rubbish like we did today. Lampard and Mata were the main culprits, they were so bad at times. don't want to have a dig at Torres, he didn't do too bad to say he hardly got any service throughout but the small criticism is that he gave the ball away too easy for Arsenals goal, it clearly wasnt a foul and a silly attempt for him to go down for it. Over-all a good win today, 6 points off the Gunners and stopped a bad run at home. Now to turn the Swansea game around on Wednesday. Scott M.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Though Torres was good but like you say loses possession to often. V Swansea I think Torres and Ba start really go for it. What you reckon,
Matt

Agree4 Disagree5

Id like to see us play 2 strikers more often, I think both Ba and Torres can cause problems and offers more options in creativity from midfield. Our defense did a good job today, need to keep their wits about them against Swansea. Scott M.

Agree0 Disagree4

Can I ask matt what you thought torres did well. all I saw was him give away possession with poor passes and poor control

Agree1 Disagree1

His Movement trying hard worked hard linked play lovely with mata Oscar hazard, running at defenders
I thought he was good; I would of played BA or taken Torres of sooner but I couldn't slate Torres today,
Matt

Agree4 Disagree3

Have to agree with Matt. He played fairly well in the first half when the trio were on fire. Went missing in the second half when Arsenal pressed us more and the trio were marked out of the game. Yes he didn't hold the ball up for us, but that's never been a part of his game. Ba should of come on at 60mins or so.

idk about ye lot but I think torres should be tried on the right wing and ba up front torres sort of impressed me today IMO

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Torres did play well despite not scoring.

Agree6 Disagree8

What? Torres played well? Where? On playstation?

JG

Agree9 Disagree6

Torres was awful today. Won a free kick and sliced a great chance well over the bar. Better than usuall!

Agree8 Disagree4

His link up play with the trio created opportunities for others.

Agree4 Disagree5

If we had lost we would have different views about him playing 'OK', we looked better as soon as ba came on. when do us chelsea fans ever settle for anything ok? BLUEBOY1

Agree4 Disagree1

People are blinded by hate

Agree2 Disagree4

If we had started with Ba, the way we would of played would of been different. There would of been more long balls/crosses, which means the scoreline could have been worse.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Yes and loose passes

Agree7 Disagree4

Still a million miles better than Ramiers can't undestand why people can't see it

Agree4 Disagree7

Ramires isn't a great passer of the ball but he does win tackles. Although sometimes he does foul players. When he goes on his runs, it's hard to stop him, as was evident in the second goal.

Agree5 Disagree2

Ramires can't ping a 30 yard pass and often overhits his throughballs. but today playing in the dm position he broke up attacks well and laid it off to the attacking midfilders well.

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Jan 2013 15:10:53
If I was Torres I would be asking rafa why none of our midfields can slide passes through and split defences for me like they just did for Ba.

Believable7 Unbelievable7

I have to say I agree. I watched a couple of times the opportunity of Mata or Hazard threading a ball through to Torres but it did't happen. But maybe they don't think Torres can capitalise. Ba was a real threat in the little time he played. On a positive note I thouht Torres is regaining his speed. Proitos.

Agree4 Disagree2

Agree. Perhaps they believe he's lost his pace and can't get on to the end of them. I was impressed with his pace at times today, other times Vermealan definitely had him beat but his dummy in the second half to buy him an extra yard was great. Would of liked him to cut infront instead of trying to cross. His link up in the first half with the trio created chances for others.

Agree1 Disagree3

He Is not regaining his speed. He was up against mertsacker, the slowest footballer in the world!

Jordan

Agree5 Disagree2

The amount of balls the trio played for him but his lack of pace made vermalen tidy them up with ease. stop trying to make excuses for torres.

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Jan 2013 14:51:55
If we do not change things they are going to equalise

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Bertrand on Loewe need BA to hole play up, use long ball and he can score too

Agree4 Disagree1

We are lacking a physical presence and some quality in the midfield. Ramires is no use.

Agree1 Disagree8

What you on about he had a man of the match performance, that's exactly the problem with some of the so called fans here, no offence but you haven't a clue about football. On a positive note though Torres played very well I thought but Azpiculeta had a poor game.
Danny

Agree4 Disagree2

I thought ramires was brillian! Closed down all game quick and positive attacking! For me lamps lost the ball far too often and looked very sluggish second half. BLUEBOY1

Agree6 Disagree0

Thought torres was awful, did nothing of use all game. ramires was very good as the defensive midfielder, broke their attacks up and got it to our attackers in the first half. second half with our backs against te wall he defended very well

20 Jan 2013 14:39:18
Arsenal going to attack much harder in the second half. We need a striker on who is going to hold the ball up. We need Demba Ba on sooner rather than later.

With the substitutes being; Turnbull, Paulo, JT, Bertrand, Ake, Marin and Ba there must be questions asked about our squad size? It is Jan and we have just 2 attacking options on the bench!

J22

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Agree. Having 4 defenders on the bench, 1 a youngster (Ake) and another (Ferreira) having not featured for the first team in months, just shows how lacking we are in squad depth. Even if we had Luiz back that would still be 4 defensive players.

This is why I don't want rafa at this club next year. Starting torres who is awfull. Demba ba bullied arsenal three weeks ago and gets rested. I hope i'm wrong and torres gets the winner but to be honest I wouldn't be bothered if he was moved on now instead of the summer. regarding rafa I don't agree with his rotation policy, if the team is doing well, why change it.

NWBLUE

Believable4 Unbelievable6

90% of fans would want Torres gone now instead of the summer, so your idea is hardly noteworthy. Whilst Torres hasn't been at his best so far today, his link up play has created opportunities for other players. And if Demba Ba were playing then we would be playing slightly differently and the scoreline might not be the same.

Agree3 Disagree2

Rafa does like Torres but I think Abramovich insisting he plays doesn't help!

Agree2 Disagree0

Playing with Torres worked as is evident in the first half. Second half Arsenal picked up their game and stopped the trio playing, which affected Torres' game. When Demba Ba came on we changed the play we played with constant long balls up to him which worked to relief pressure. Our midfield was marked out the game 2nd half.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2013 13:11:46
once again no defensive midfielder and torres?!?!?!? what has ba done to deserve being dropped. can't see us getting anything from this game.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

So far it seems to be working. While Torres may not be at his best his link up play has created opportunities for others. Ba can't come in and now play every game till the end of the season. Such an ask is unrealistic.

Much has been said about who will be manager come next season.
Some of the pundits suggest that no one will want to manage us but the reality is of course they will.
I for one am glad that Pep has chose Bayern my view is that although he had great success at Barcelona the structure, the players, the ethos were ready for him to step into and the only real set back he had (us knocking them out of last seasons CL) proved too much for him and I really am not sure he would have been quite the manager in the EPL that he was in Spain.
So who next? Well heres a thought Gus Hiddink, who I personally believe is up there as one of the best of his generation, ends his contract in Russia at the end of the season. As things stand he has said he won't sign another contract in Russia and has said he plans to retire.
Gus lead us and we loved him but more important he has a good relationship with RA.
So I personally think we will see one of our previous managers return be it Hiddink or Jose.
