I can totally understand why a lot of fans want AVB sacked, but i truly believe he has the makings of a great manager. He is clearly very self-confident, passionate and intelligent, and he treats the media with the respect they deserve. If he is given time to bring in his own players and promote some of our very gifted youngsters (when they are ready) we may be able to create a long standing successful team. He has the hardest job in football-replacing the core of the team without it seems any help from some of the senior players. Yes mistakes have been made but he is young and still learning and (hopefully) has time on his side to get much better. The squad he has inherited is by far the weakest for many years and needs a lot of work. It wont be the end of the world or the club if we dont get a result tomorrow night, lets do something unheard of for CFC and think long term.

@ SHED END
I am an "armchair fan" and also very much a REAL fan. I am truly offended by your comments, why does somebody who can't get to live games (for whatever reason) have a less valid opinion that somebody lucky enough to go? And what the hell is a forum fan? Anyone who goes on forums, clearly cares about the club. I used to go to a lot of games but, like many others due to family/work/financial commitments i cant go much anymore. But in no way has this diminished my love for the club. I watch every game on tv etc. and i devour every single piece of news i see about our great club.In fact my opinion is probably more valid now than when i went to live games. Anyone that cares and loves there club IS A REAL FAN!
SS
p.s. I normally agree with most of your posts.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

The point i was making was, i said i dont think AVB is the man for the job, i then got called dumb, stupid and a disgrace, and a few posters said i was in the minority, it just so happens that these posters who think i am in the minority, dont go to games, so how would they know? I got to games, the vast majority of people i know/spoke to are really concerned that AVB isnt the right man,

My problem is with people on here speaking on behalf of the fans when they cant possibly have an accurate view because they arent actively/physically there/involved

I think everyone should support Chelsea, i have no problem with armchair fans, or there opinions when it comes to the likes of tactics/selections stuff like that etc, but dont tell me what fans at the games and on the travel coaches are thinking when you have no way of knowing and i have. The majority of the people at the games iv'e been think AVB is far too inexperienced to rebuild a club after just 2 full years in management, I fully agree with that, there has been nothing on or off the pitch too suggest otherwise

Maybe in the heat of the moment i diddnt word it very well, but i just just had myself, and my friends and family who share my views and also go to the games, branded stupid, disgraces, and got told too go support Man City. If people want to be aggresive and out of order with me thats fine but dont cry when you get it back,, ive used this forum a lot, why should i get grief and branded a glory hunter, just for having a different opinion, off people that have less to do with the club than myself, Im 3rd generation chelsea game goer, my kids will be and so will there kids, there is noone on this forum that will stop me from saying what I BELIEVE is best for the club, and i dont think we are in very safe hands having AVB at the helm

SHED END

Agree2 Disagree0

Go down and read the whole conversation right from the bottom of the page, i wasnt aggresive or unreasonable, i wasnt rude to anybody until they were rude to me. That big long one with lots of comments on recently, a lot of people just jumped straight in on that like a witch hunt without reading anything i said, On this forum you will find that that the people who dont think AVB is good enough wont sign there posts because they will get jumped on straight away like i did, (before the whole real fan vs arm chair fan comment) which is just wrong that they darent sign there opinions because they will get called a disgrace and told too support man city, i sign everyone of my posts, read through them bottom to top before you start judging me,

SHED END

Agree0 Disagree0

I did read all of your posts and you make some very good points of which many I agree with. It was the fact you seem to think people that don't go to games can't be considered real fans I had a problem with. And I didn't judge you in anyway.
SS

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough comments shed, the only other thing i would say is that it is wrong for people to talk on behalf of game attendies but from your comments it seems you belive that i will never be able to be a big supporter as you can( on the basis that you live in england and can go to games and i live in australia so i obviously cannot.

I just hope we win tomorrow, so that poor Andre will have some breathing space. At least here. Funny how things go, just this summer i was so excited we appointed him oir manager and today i feel he is so uncapable, that Avram Grant looks like Arrigo Sacchi.

Lets be frank our worst manager was Felipe Scolari. Nothing gets worse than him in our team. But by the despair we are in looks like the young dude has got no chance whatsoever. And even if he Roman does not sack him - media will. I wish he finishes the season at the Bridge, gets that fourth spot and gets the hell out of here, coz when the results will go sour, when the temperature falls next year, we will have no chance of signing a proper manger.

Do your job, AVB! Qualify, get out and play football manager ob your ipad.

Tomorrow is crunch time for AVB. Its going to be the game that shows whether he is a brilliant tactician and whether he is able to outsmart the best teams in the world and in the top competitions. I am quite worried about tomorrow night, but i'm sure if everyone is up for it then we will give Napoli a game!

PR!

If Terry doesn't play Lampard needs to play, we will need a natural leader out there tomorrow and other than Terry, he is the Man!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

20 Feb 2012 22:04:37
Team for tomorrow should be;
CECH
IVANOVIC, CAHILL LUIZ COLE
ESSIEN RAMERIES LAMPARD
STURRIDGE TORRES MATA.

I think this is the best we can put out and give us a chance. Terry is 50/50 and thats why I have went for Cahill. Please don,t play Mereiles. IF AVB picks this team and they all put in the effort I believe we will get a positive result with a chance of going through.

I've been gone for one day and look at you all! You should be ashamed!

On a brighter note - i have been keeping a close eye on people signing off their names, and i've got to say, credit where credits due, i assure you it has not gone unnoticed - it warms the heart, it really does. I feel we have created our own little football fan forum community, call it a Chelsea Web Page Society if you will. Josh, PB, SHED END, Melbourne CFC, Pinky, NP, Shak, SK, Blue25, Badger, aL, Battersea Boy, JG, Jimbo, Davis, Cfcmatt and the rest of you who have yet to decide on a signing off name. I consider you all my family. When i get married to Holly Willabooby (and i will), i will personally invite you all to come along, get p*ssed and have a good old singalong of 10 men went to Mo. Ed001 and Ed002 you are invited too. For now though i think we should all at least agree on the one thing that stays true no matter what. And that is that Kenny Dalglish is looking more and more like Jimmy Krankie with that haircut.

Does anyone think that our person manager, is capable of playing malouda, meireles, mikel, kalou, bosingwa, all at the same time.
He said today that roman won't sack him regardless of the results. Well if that's the case, roman, you have been mugged off by a hustler, because us fans, all know he is by far the worst manager,in the premier & probably the worst manager we have ever had.

Who will AVB pick tomorrow in the CL
Whoever he pick's, the team will be disjointed, with no desire. Because all the players think he is useless, except his boyfriends from portugal & the lazy buggers we have all complained about all year.
He boast's today he won't get sacked, if we go out.
Well if we go out, I'm going to book him a holiday with an Italian cruise liner.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Its about time the players think of us fans especially the ones hu are lucky enough to travel to napels tomorrow {Ed013's Note - Too much money to think of the fans mate! They need some passion injecting in them, you are the one's that pay to see them play so you deserve something back.}

Not sure if everyone agrees, but with our recent lack of creativity, I'd give kalou another go. I've slated him in the past but given the current situation, I'd play 4231, with...

Cech
Ivanovic, Cahill, luiz, cole
Essien, romeu (Ramires when fit)
Sturridge, mata, kalou
Drogba

Can't see him doing it but feel it would give us a lot more going forward. What does everyone think?

NP

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Would prefer him to Malouda, who has been v disappointing of late and is also likely to leave next season; whereas Kalou is younger and has got the best time on pitch to goals ratio of any of our strikers (albeit cos so often brought on as sub against tiring defenses -- a role he should certainly also be used for on occasion)

Agree1 Disagree1

Completely agree. Kalou over malouda anyday.

Shak

Agree1 Disagree1

I've thought this for a while. He not everyone's favourite, but he does nick the odd goal, and is much more direct than most of the other players in the squad. Less ball to feet and more playing into space throughout the team would also be much better to see.

Blue25

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree although I think he should play on the right with Sturridge on the left.

Badger

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeh i do like Kalou. He always tries his hardest and looks like hes giving his all so i can't knock him for that. I just wish he was a better finisher.

OsgoodIsKing

Agree2 Disagree3

Didn't think I'd ever say this but at the moment yes I'd pick Kalou over Malouda. 3yrs ago Malouda would of been one of the 1st name on my team sheet - 09 CL semi final he had Dani Alves dizzy. He's getting so much stick at the moment and its sad to see because he is so skillful, but we haven't seen that Malouda in a while, shame.

Wow so much hate in this forum lately, its chelsea fan vs chelsea fan, cmon we're all mates here,we should all just wait and see what becomes of our beloved club.i say we should all respect whatever opinion each of us have and just keep supporting the lads on the pitch, cause whatever we argue about it's still roman who has the last say.can't wait for the napoli game, probably get frustrated again but hell as long as i can still enjoy watching the boys play i'll be okay, just hope avb picks a decent enough squad.cheers

aL

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I could not agree more, one thing is clear we all love the club and want to see us winning again. Lets hope we get 4th place this season and start the rebuilding in the summer. Should really have started after we won the double but thats history now. Hopefully we can start to turn things around tomorrow night.

who else is avb supposed to play? The defence is fine, but i would like to see luiz and cahill form a partership. Also chelsea play 433 so bosingwa needs to play because he is the only rb we have that has pace going foward. The only cm thatl we have that can start week in week out are mikel, essien, lampard and meireles, and so many people say mata should play in the cam, but the only player we have to play lw is malouda. For the fowarda i think that mata should stay a left wing, sturridge is our highest scoring foward yet we still put him at right wing? Doesnt make sense to me. If i were avb i would put torres at rightwing.
Also with the formation, its not as simple of just saying ' lets play 41212. Not sure if some of you realize but the reserves and youth team play 433 as well.
jono cfc syd

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Sorry don't agree, bosingwa I would place in reserve squad.Ivanovic offers more defensively.Bosingwa is useless.Mata isn't quick enough for winger,so he should play behind striker/strikers.

Osgoodistheking and shed end talk proper sense on here. Both spot on with their views and clearly die hard fans! I Dnt get to many games but watch all the games on the net! And its just getting worse each time I watch us play! The way he sets up the team baffles me and not got a clue when we are under pressure! I wanted to give Avb a chance but after the Utd game its killed every bit of faith I had in him! I want him out! No one wants to play for him.

So you want a fall back option when we sack AVB?

Capello
Mourinho
Deschamps
Guardiola
Moyes
Zola
Van Gaal

damn, there are a lot of quality managers out there. I bet Hughes would have done a better job.

If you are out of ideas go for John Terry himself. Would not be the first time we employ a player-manager.

Then you could solely blame the players, because with this mess of a team a very few would come out good.

Alright then, If you want AVB out leave a list of suitable replacements, they would join us at this time of year go on.

AVB will bring sustainability to the club and if he gets sacked then the players will win again, and not take the blame.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I dont want AVB out, i want him to start picking decent sides, using decent tactics and good substitutions, if he doesnt do this, i want him out and replaced with ANY manager that WILL pick decent sides, use decent tactics and make good substitutions,

Hes getting it all wrong, today for example hes come out and said hes desperate for Torres to start scoring, 1) why put the extra pressure on him, and 2) if you want him to start scoring dont play Mikel and Miereles behind him!!!

Again today hes come out and said he might gamble on JT, what message is that sending out too Luiz and Cahill? this plan hes got, was it in the blueprint to still rely on John Terry for the first year?

He makes schoolboy errors day after day after day , will they suddenly stop after he brings 4 or 5 new players in?
