Use our rumours form to send us chelsea transfer rumours.

Ed002,

Duncan Castles has written that a "pre contract" agreement is in place for Manuel Pellegrini to become Chelsea Manager at the seasons end.

Could you please enlighten us as to whether this is the case or not?, if at all possible please.

I have to admit, I would be extremely disappointed, to put it politely, if this were to be the case. We will, essentially be getting a leftover from Manchester City, a club who we had a five year head start on, in terms of investment, while they appoint arguably one of the two best coaches in the world, in Pep Guardiola, again if rumours are to be taken at face value.

If this were to happen, it would be a stark reminder for Chelsea supporters as to how far we have fallen and may risk alienating some supporters, angry at Jose's departure, further.

I sincerely hope that Pellegrini is not going to be the solution to the long term position of first team coach.

Thanks in advance Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - There is no pre-contract agreement - he is contracted to Manchester City.}

I would be devestated if this indeed where true.

Ed002 a lot of respected Journos are reporting Manuel Pelligrini is the leading candidate to be the next Chelsea manager in the summer!? Is he being considered!?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - So the "respected journos" are on to it. Twitter perhaps.? Supposition? I have explained the situation - that is all that is needed for now.}

To be honest, even if it was true, he hasn't done a bad job in knitting together a bunch of highly paid self indulgent individuals. He made the same mistake in not improving the squad after they won the league, but I am sure he has learnt (as we have hopefully done) his lesson. Comes across as a less than flamboyant individual, but he must have something about him. Never in the news or press, wouldn't that be great, quietly getting on with the job,

I agree pellegrini has done a good job at Man City.

I would take him. Despite all the pep rumour he has conducted himself really well.

Long drawn out question for you lol
Say we did get a top manager big if
And he loses a couple of games to start with just bedding in and is say 10th after 6 games and the pressure starts mounting
And a few players start playing up what would the board do then
We have had 3 top class coaches at cfc in last 5 years Carlo jose and yes rafa dare I say it
I believe that pep Klopp and Lowe are the others
I think simeone is there as well but could you imagine hazard under him
I think we missed a trick with pottchtino I think he's a good whole club manager not just team
I would like someone to come in and gradually take over the club and make it there own with new team buildingincluding bringing youth through
New stadium
someone like wenger ferguson someone who we and everyone could say he's mister chelsea
I know a lot of you will say we had one in jose who I loved but the only way I can describe him is it came increasingly clear it's all about him
I know we can all say he was protecting the players, but I didn't believe that second time around and when you look at madrid and us and how it ended both times he had fallen out with everyone. I didn't feel his heart was in it second time around it was a job of convenience for both sides
And as a global brand now we couldn't have that as our figure head
So who do you think will be our best choice for that kind of management or do you prefer the way we are now interested to hear your thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what your question is. Firstly, Benitez saw his contract out and left. Secondly, your suggestion is that Chelsea should have moved Mourinho on to replace him with Pochettino? Klopp was previously approached by Chelsea and said no. The times of Wenger and Ferguson are long gone - you need to get off that bus.}

I'm parking the bus ed
It was more a question for other posters ed
To hear there thoughts on next manager and style of manager for chelsea
And pochetino I meant before jose.

To change the topic a bit. How about we go all out for Reus and Aubemeyang. The both of them have this understanding and are lightening quick, not cup tied, and really tremendously technically sound. Don't understand why we can't get them, what we need for me and would be a great January.

Just fishing I know but, not even sure if there is any interest. just a shout.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea walked away from Reus a year ago when they had the option to sign him - they won't be following up.}

Is it possible? Surely not? Jose's first game as United manager at home to us? Would God be so cruel?

Entirely possible perhaps even v likely (odds on with most bookmakers) - unfortunately. Bad enough losing JM, but to a direct rival it would feel appalling.

Ed002,

Are the club going to try and make a sustained effort to acquire Guardiola if he does indeed confirm his time at Bayern is coming to an end?

My concern stems from the fact that since the club and Jose have decided to part ways with each other, it is safe to say that were we to hire anyone but Guardiola, it could be considered a downgrade, with the greatest of respect to all the other coaches out there.

It just seems strange that Manchester City, who lest we forget, have actually got a permanent manager in place, are going to have a seemingly free run at appointing him. Obviously, I am not privy to the information you are and could be wrong in what I say.

Would it be possible for you to shed any light on Chelsea's intentions in relation to any possible pursuit of Guardiola if, indeed, he signals he is going to leave Bayern at the end of the current season.

Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't really work like that - the club has acted already by making provision for the rest of the season. Whilst they can approach representatives of managers contracted to other clubs either directly or through third parties they cannot directly approach the individuals. Chelsea will look to the options available and managers who might become available will also look to what options they have.}

Guardiola will available at least it's practically official.

there is always 3 sides to a story, joses side -the players side - and the truth. I for one am thinking we will never know what really happened . our special 1 has gone and now comes the time to get behind gus and the team.

do not be so naive and believe everthing you read in the rags, they are only about selling papers, let's move on together, jose you will always be our special one.

I love Jose, but I think his time was up. If he had dropped the players that wasn't playing for him and played some youth I would have sympathied with him. To see the same rubbish this season though was so frustrating. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up and I'm sure he'll be successful again, he is a winner.

As for us, I would like to see the defence addressed in January, Coleman and Laporte please Mr A. Then some stability and attractive football. Really want to see us go 4-3-3 with Matic Cesc and Oscar running the middle of the park.

Onwards and Upwards!

Not sure why we need a RB? We have one of the best playing as our LB. What we need is a LB, so Azpilicueta can switch back to his natural side. If we were to bring in Coleman then I'd rather just see Azpi sold as he's never going to play in his natural position, and despite how good he is, we need a natural LB in order to balance our team.

I expect to some extent JM was caught between a rock and a hard place.

If he had dropped our underperforming so called 'world class players' he would have faced a potential mutiny in the dressing room, sooner than it actually occurred. I think people forget that these players have a large amount of influence not only amongst the squad but with senior staff as well.

I'm sure he would love to have dropped certain players for longer periods of time, but this would have had severe repercussions. It is a much more complex situation than people realise or care to see.
