What we all thinking for tomorrow. No hazard and no luiz but we have got Cech and mata fit. Think we have to have BA and Torres on together or at least start with BA,, I'm worried due to our squad that Bertrand will start minefield and Marin. We have no muscle and I'm worried and hate to be so negative but signings Newcastle made thnk we will be lucky for a draw!

Agree with surewould. Team picks itself besides Marin vs Bertrand.

5-1 to us Torres hat-trick

Agree1 Disagree2

If Bertrand and Torres start then get ready for a Draw. To be honest I would normally expect a win. BUT under RAFA perhaps a draw is most likely.

I think a draw or a loss will put Rafa on very very thin ice. His results at chelsea are pretty much similar to what he did at Liverpool and inter. Draws and more draws and the wins at big games

Agree1 Disagree1

I can not see us winning this game, with either formation or players on the pitch.

With the players we have out on loan to come back next season I feel we only need 3 major signings.

1) With Torres looking to never regain his top form it is obvious we need a 'marquee' world class striker signing. With Ba also taken to the team well and with Lukaku on loan our strike force is looking promising.

Players we have been linked with:

Falcao, Cavani, Gomez, Higuain, Gomis, Negredo

My preference: FALCAO

Yes I would choose Falcao out of all of them has he has impressed me the most literally taking Atletico to 2nd in La Liga. Also proved it in the Portuguese league too.

2) Another position which also needs strengthening is the defensive midfield position. There has been a lot of talk about Fellaini I think he's a great player but I don't think he would fit into our system well.

Players we've been linked with:

Fellaini, Fernando, Capoue, Paulinho

My preference: FERNANDO

With David Luiz taking one spot of the pivot I think Fernando would be the ideal physical presence we need in the centre of midfield which with two strong defensively minded players in Luiz and Fernando we would be able to play our attacking trio of Hazard, Oscar and Mata in front. His transitional play in getting the ball to the forwards is another fantastic attribute if his. Would like to see McEachran back if Lamps leaves and hope to see Chalobah on loan at a premier league side.

3) With John Terry getting more injury prone later on in his career we cannot rely on Ivanovic and Cahill to play 2 games a week all the time. That's why I think we need another centre back.

Players we've been linked with:

Hummels, Subotic, N'Koulou

My preference: SUBOTIC

Seen as we've been linked with Subotic I would love to see him at the bridge was greatly impressed with him in the champions league, would also be cheaper than Hummels.

So there you have it I think with our current squad and these three players we have a fantastic squad which can challenge for every trophy.

Players hoping to see back from loans:

Courtois - we can't let this one slip away, world class.
Kalas - been fantastic at Vitesse Arnhem.
McEachran - Only if Lampard leaves if not then would like to see him on loan at a lower premier league club.

Out -

Hilario
Turnball
Ferreira
Mikel - still don't miss him with our thin squad.
Malouda
Marin
Benayoun
Torres

Kevin De Bruyne will become Lampards natural successor in my opinion. he's out on loan at Werder Bremen atm and will be back in the summer.

Why marin out?is he so bad?i didn't watch last game he played. if i'm not mistaken against brentford.

Agree0 Disagree1

Great post agree with you on most of them I would love to see him at the bridge the presence we need in the middle would only fit into a 4-3-3 system though which brought us success would like to see us play it again:

Cech

Azpilicueta Cahill Subotic A. Cole

Oscar Luiz Fellaini

Mata Falcao Hazard

SUBS: Courtois, Ivanovic, Terry, Ramires, Lampard, Moses, Ba

I agree PB. Your views are spot on pal

No marin is a quality player, he's just being isolated at Chelsea, had he started ten Ames already he would actually might enjoy his football and show some passion. BLUEBOY1

Mikel out? Do you even watch football or just enjoy riding the bandwagon?

He is available, as is Cech.

It's clear that Chelsea are going to buy in summer as we will
Have new manager but I will be really annoyed if players like de bruyne courtios lukaku kalas van aarnolt kakuta are on loan. If they at not good enough sell them make some money. If not let's have a big squad and give them a chance!
Matt

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Give them a chance! everyone of the lads you mentioned plus challobah & mceachran are doing exceptionally well. players like davilla & bruma should be sold, they look nothing more than average. i'd rather josh played than another rush signing like meirelles was. BLUEBOY1

Well that was a bit of a quiet Deadline day for us, I was hoping for one or two additions, with the squad being quite thin, I guess the summer may well be a rather busy one for us this year. Albeit we have a lot of Lonnie's they could well break into the squad, qualifying for the CL and the Additions made in the summer will be huge now to keep us has a top European threat.

Ed apart from the Bid made for Butland did we make any other offers for anyone else?

And seeing has it is now Feb ill be the first to ask Are you aware of anything regarding the future manager of us because the FSW clearly won't be staying on, Has talks been had with Jose?

Thanks for all the work leading up to and on Deadline day as usual ed much appreciated.

BlueBen {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of an actual bid for Butland and I am not aware of anything happening on the final day. There were discussions about a couple of players and their availability earlier in the week as discussed.}

Either Chelsea forgot the transfer window closed last night or Benitez hasn't been given any money because he is deffinately off in the summer no questions asked

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or the January transfer window is notoriously hard to deal in?. especially when going for top targets already involved in European competition or well placed domestically. Clubs often do not want to sell either. No need to panic buy. not long ago we were saying that with a fully fit squad we're contenders for the league. KTBFFH.

Ed002, are the club looking at loaning some more of the youth out (Lalkovic, Clifford etc. )? Do you have any idea of destinations, if so?

Cheers

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what the plans are with the kids but you must remember that the reserve team has commitments in terms of games as well.}

Thank god another transfer window has slammed shut!

I am a firm believer that in the football rumour world there is no smoke without fire, this 'smoke' can be based on fact or coincidence and is often blown out of a relevant context; but usually it isn't the mindless ramblings of a bored journalist.

The recent rumour that interests me most, especially after a lack of action today, is the fact that Roman Abramovich isn't happy with Michael Emenalo (our technical director whom I loath so much). The rumour, which most/some of you must have seen, went along the lines that Emenalo was the main pusher for Rafa Benitez to be installed as manager - a move that Abramovich feels, rightly, has pushed him away from the clubs supporters. The rumour went on to state that Emenalo would play no part in the next managerial appointment, a job that Abramovich would do on his own.

This indicates to me that Abramovich has lost confidence with Emenalo as an advisor.

We clearly needed to strengthen areas of our squad, even if we had some of our loan players, who could offer something to the first team now (lets be honest 90% of the players out on loan couldn't and will never have a consistent run in the Chelsea first team) such as De Bruyne or Lukaku, back with the squad it'd still need one or two new injections of quality. The fact that no move was made since Ba and Wallace came in, for me, is another indicator that Abramovich has lost confidence with Emenalo and the advice that he gives.

Michael Emenalo is a cancer at Chelsea Football Club; he needs to be shown the door more than anyone else at the club. I hope I'm right, I hope that Abramovich has recognised his mistake in hiring this guy, I hope with all my love for this club that he is sacked soon.

No matter who takes over from Benitez in the summer, no doubt someone will, they need to be a Football Manager. Not a Head Coach. A Football Manager. We don't need another Technical Director, we need a team of scouts who report to the Football Manager, the Football Manager who manages every aspect of football within the club and builds the club around his philosophy.

This might take time, we might enter another 'transitional period', but we are currently in a supposed transitional period that needs a big shakeup!

Cant say that Kenyon did a good job at the club either. Remember when Jose was installed as manager and he brought in some class players in such as Carvalho, Essien, Ballack, Ash Cole, Drogba, Robben ect? They were down to Jose alone, i'd never even heard of Drogba until he joined us and what a legend he turned out to be. All a club needs is good negotiators to seal deals, let the good managers pick the players they feel can fit into the team. Even Ranieri brought in good players, its thanks to him we signed Lamps, Makelele, Gallas, Joe Cole and Damien Duff (when he was decent) and introduced John Terry to the squad. Far too much messing about at the club these days, its the boardroom structure that needs sorting out. Scott M.

Agree3 Disagree0

Both top posts, spot on.
Matt

Agree0 Disagree1

Robben and cech was actually bought by ranieri on january. these wo players moved to chelsea the following summer when ranieri got sacked and jose came in.

Fahim

Agree1 Disagree0

Splitting hairs. but Ranieri brought in Robben

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but either way both managers had more of a say in the transfers that worked for us and without interference from the likes of Abramovic, Kenyon or Emenalo. Scott M.

Agree0 Disagree0

I despise Manchester United but I completely envy their structure. They have whiskey nose and gill and that's it. Some of that has to do with the stability but in my perfect scenario we bring in Jose and consolidate the board to one or two people. Buck and gourlay are business men so let them handle that not football.

Tk

Agree1 Disagree0

I must say Buck and Gourlay do a good job with their side of the club. Recent deals, such as Sauber and Gazprom, are helping the club be global brand - and football clubs do need to be a global brand these days.

Hi ed018 who's your favourite chelsea player past and present delboy(34) {Ed018's Note - I've only followed Chelsea for 8-9 years now so there are a lot of great players I didn't get to see play. Past player has to be Drogba and present player is Oscar. I did always enjoy watching a healthy Essien play}

Well can't say i'm not suprised that we didn't sign anyone today, I would have thought at least Man City would have gone all out for the likes of Cavani after floggin Balotelli to AC Milan. Got to look at a bigger picture though, we have many great young talented players out on loan till summer that will be pushing for 1st team next season, Lukaku doing well at WBA, Courtois ever brilliant at Atletico, De Bruyne finding good form at Werder Bremen, Wallace to join in June/July. Last season AVB was supposedly going to get a massive transfer war chest (as they put it) but you just knew Roman didn't want him at the club and didn't trust him to bring any players in. can't see Rafa lasting after the season has ended, just praying we get Jose back, not only will he get the best out of the team but he will attract some of the big talent out there, wouldn't mind Guus Hiddink either but i'm not too sure of the talk about Poyet been manager, don't think that would be a clever move but its probably a load of BS. Personally I would rather see one of the 20+ youth prospects out on loan breakthrough than see another unnecessary big money purchase, but hey maybe you guys would rather see a big money signing replacing a perfectly good player such a De Bruyne.

I did dare not look at this page once the past 24 hours, and I'm glad I didn't, it's quite funny just scrolling down even and reading some of the things that are asked and questioned, I just think this window will help us understand that it's not all about buy, buy, buy. even Chelsea has their limit.
