Every Spurs fan seems to b so upset d way Chelsea in particular spend on players. Hw abt ManU, they used to be transfer record breakers: Dwight York (£13m, 1998), Jaap Stam (£11m, 1998), Van Nistelrooy (£20m, 2001), Sebastian Veron (£28m, 2001), Rio Ferdinand (£30m, 2002 even b4 d Abramovic era); Louis Saha (£13m, 2004), Wayne Rooney (£27m, 2004), Owen Hargreaves (£17m, 2007), Nani (£18m, 2007), Anderson (£21m, 2007), Berbatov (£31m, 2008), Valencia (£16m, 2009), Phil Jones (£17m, 2011), Ashley Young (£16m, 2011), De Gea (£18m, 2011); not talking of ManCity, Real Madrid... Why r Barca not crying bcos R.Madrid have been splashing cash? Of course, even Barca have their history of 'accelerated transfer expenditure.' Ibra alone costed them close to *£60m! Get real, Spurs. Chelsea, no doubt, r a small club and r now investing in d future as evident in their new transfer policy n youth/academy dev. Their youth have d FA cup, so arguably d best in England ATM, one to last atleast a decade. Spurs et al, top d cry, just support ur club n hope they make progress.

Basics (unbiased/neutral fan).

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Earth to dude, Chelsea is not a small club. Small clubs do not win two trophies in one season and over 13 trophies in 8 years.

So I tell you what, that part of your post just made everything you posted quite........... Stupid. Peace.

ELI

Agree10 Disagree2

A small club? When we've won the most trophies in England over the last 9 years? So I guess man ute are tiny!

Just watched Cavani run the entire length of the field to get in the way of Sturridge on a break. We have to get him, pace, desire, skills, ability, has it all in my opinion. I live in hope!

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Shame he done nothing the other end in all 3 games :)

Maybe we should buy him for RB cover? MB

But when torres tracked back everyone slated him saying "tracking back dont make up for is poor goal ratio" cavani is nt the right fit for us

You support sturridge and he scores two goals at the olympics ( note olympics ) and all of a sudden your a whiz at the game and those who disagree with you are "Fools"?

Boy you are something.

ELI

Yer he was fing amazing! NOT!

Agree3 Disagree0

This is how thick u lot really are! As u lot keep pointing out that sturridge is playing poor BUT yet he still scoring goals! And that my friends is a sign of a class striker! 2 in 2 when he come back from a bad illness! Clueless!

I really do think that Chelsea need a RB. With Bosingwa gone and atm Ivanovic the only person who can play RB it seems as if we have that area covered. But remember last seasons CL final when JT and Ivanovic were suspended Luiz and Cahill basically playing with an injury. We really can't afford a CB to be used as a RB as it will take another CB out of the equation. So in my opinion a fresh, young, quick, versatile RB is needed. I'm not sure about Azpilicueta because of the poor Spanish Olympics team and his lack of experience, especially if he comes to the prem. Micah Richards is a more experienced option. He knows the prem inside out and is an English player. Granted he will cost a lot more but he will be guaranteed a first team spot and he is a fantastic RB.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

. I have always said I would rather keep studge then buy cavani. Opposite ends of the spectrum tonight, Studge great and Cavani very poor. Whatever you say about Studges attitude it doesn't matter because quite simply he is a proven goalscorer and if he gets goals then who cares?

AG

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Go and have a look at thier career records then come back and tell me who the proven goalscorer is.

Agree4 Disagree4

Sturridge is proven in the prem. why take the risk of £35-£40m on someone who may score 5-10 goals more; if he doesn't settle maybe even less!

Agree4 Disagree2

Like the commentators said over and over, Sturridge does the hard things but struggles with simple things. He is greedy don't track back, doesn't hold ball up and play simple, and to judge cavani after 2/3 bad games is ridiculous,

Agree5 Disagree0

Well sturridge is a lot younger than Cavani and for £35m Cavani also struggle with a lot of the simple things .

Agree2 Disagree1

Some chelsea fans do not realise what we already have, they must always want what they cant have. You lot are flled with double standards and narrow sightedness. If studge playeed for another pl team u lot would be all over him, get a grip!

Agree3 Disagree2

Everyone saying at we are missing in Sturridge, well last night, he constantly gave possession away, by not playing simple, even the comentators noticed, showing is Greed, aswell alot in the game he moved wide to claim possession, however we want a CENTRAL striker, and i noticed some give grief to Torres/Cavani for pushing wide/ coming too deep, and finally his finishing was weaker than most averages, yes - he scored a 2yard goal, but he also missed one, and had several shots wide - This is all my opinion, but i do think we need a striker

JMJW

Agree0 Disagree1

Without greed strikers will never score! (except messi)

Just got back from the Spain vs Morocco Olympics match and i had a very good look at Cesar Azpilicueta.

He looked a lit nervous at the beginning and made a few mistakes with poor passing at times, throughout the match the improved and settled in more reducing the chances Morocco had down his wing. The only problems i saw were his passing on occasions and when he gets forward there is space left open in the RB position where he should be and he doesnt get back to help the defence fast enough. If he were to sign it would be a good signing for a young upcoming player around the supposed £8m mark which we are meant to be paying for his services. Doubt he will play regular first team action if he came as Ivanovic is still by far better atm but he is talented and can improve into a very good player at Chelsea.

Also would liek to add that Mata and Romeu were stand out performers for me (not Biassed at all being a Chelsea fan). Mata was his usual self; creative, skillful and made opportunities for his teammates, whereas Romeu did what he had to do, he was good defensively in his holding midfield role and passed the ball around easily and simply, he also had 3 chances, 2 outside the box 1 of which was on target and the keeper saved andthe other wide of goal and the other a header from a corner which was cleared off the line.

RD11

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Yer that's what happens when wing backs attack, usually because he's at the attacking end of the pitch

He looks crap tobe honist but well see

After watching Cavani in the Olympics I think Chelsea would be stupid to pay that much money for him. There are a lot of options that are the same amount of money or cheaper. For example Pato. Younger, quicker, brilliant at skill. Chelsea could probably snag him as well. Pato said that he would like to play in the prem one day. He said when his contract was up at AC he would contemplate a move. However there is not a better time to move to the prem than now. Chelsea Champions of Europe and bringing in all kinds of young talent (Hazard(s), Marin, Oscar) and the prem being the best league in the world. With AC letting two top talents go (Silva and Ibra) Pato will hopefully follow shortly and move to Chelsea. Thoughts

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree about the cavani part, even last season against us lavezzi was more the threat than cavani, its a shame we couldnt pick up lavezzi.don't know about pato though, don't think he's the player he once was.

aL

Agree1 Disagree0

I think pato is amazing player, he is so quick and will score all sorts of goals, he is injury prone thou and the fact that Milan have sold ibrahimovic they no need to sell pato, pato can play down middle and left side and unlike Sturridge is not greedy

Agree1 Disagree0

Only thing is mate, is that Pato is very injury prone which would hold us back. But I believe that we should look at him this season more closely, considering Ibra and other forward players have left Milan.

PR!

Agree1 Disagree0

About Pato I got two words: Injury Prone.

ELI

Agree0 Disagree0

Looked to me as if Cavani wanted to be anywhere but playing in the olympics full stop. If he were 1 of those badminton players he would of been kicked out too :p. Maybe he didnt want to pick up a injury to ruin a move this summer, he wasnt putting it all in thats for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that there are better options than cavani, however there are better options than Pato !

Watched azpilicueta today and no doubt the talent is there but i think it will take a season or 2 too really see the best of him , similar attribute,s to lahm from bayern ,, can you see ivanovic playing a lot at right back next year untill this guy gets up too the pace of the premiere league ? or will hutchinson be givin more playing time next season ?

Mata instead of silva. Silva started off really good but faded near the end of the season. I think mata was consistant an the only games he faded in was the barca and Munich but that only because we was defending most the game.

Why Dont we just bid for Neymar? we want a backup striker and he is young so would fit it perfectly! he Will develop a lot and would only get the same playing time as at Barcelona hence messi and fabregas playing In a strikers role In the euros-thoughts anyone?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Neymar cant be a sub in any team, he is way better than torres, and neymar isnt even a striker hes more of a winger/cam

Agree4 Disagree0

He just missed a sitter. Would still love him though.

Agree2 Disagree0

It was the pitch

lesson of missing a sitter blame the pitch not urself

Agree1 Disagree0

It's not as easy as just bidding for Neymar, there are major ownership probelms to overcome aswell as a tough agent.

I mentioned about a week ago about Luke Shaw, the Southampton 17yo LB, I know we have Bertand (who as ive said i see as more of a winger in the future) and Van Aanholt (who doesnt seem to be developing at atall), I can see Todd Kane and Luke Shaw being the Future England FB. I think it would be great to boast these to very young attacking FB on each side.
ChelseaL

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Bertrand will not be a winger considering we have marin, mata, hazard and oscar who would all happyily play there

Agree5 Disagree0

Funny you say about Ryan Bertrand being a winger, he was actually a winger when we signed him, but converted him to alert back.

How can you say that before kane hasn't even made a first team appearance?

and shaw hasn't played a game in the pl yet?

Team i would like to see at Community Shield Next Weekend

Cech

Ivanovic Cahill Terry Cole

Mikel Essien

Hazard Lampard Marin

Torres

this is the team i would like to see, due to others players being on Holiday and not quite Match fit yet, Your thoughts?
Also prediction 2 - 1 Win Torres and Hazard Goal scores

One Bomb Tom

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Good signs that we can be missing Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Mata and yet still field a good team.

Sev

Agree2 Disagree1

No ramires? No oscar, no creativity in midfield which slows down getting the ball to the front 4, no mata? Lampard as number 10 I don't think so! BLUEBOY1

Agree3 Disagree0

Sorry didn't read the whole post. For comUnited shield, but still the wrong team to be honest! BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree0

Cant see us winning it, man city in far better condition of form, fitness and togetherness.

Agree0 Disagree3

I see hazard playing through the middle with ramires on the right. Lamps will drop back into Mikels role.....

scotty

Agree1 Disagree1

Id play cahill and luiz together give them game time as our two centre backs

Agree2 Disagree1

Where's luiz and ramires?

Agree3 Disagree1

I was unsure if Luiz and Rami would be back fit, for this Game i know that Oscar and Mata wont be available, that Team is still good enough to show the city boys we will challenge for title even if we are missing 5 players ( that including new RB and new Striker )

Agree1 Disagree1

The 3 brazillians are with their natinal team and mata is on his hols. So its a good team picked.

I reckon Moses will be a Chelsea player before the community shield...

Hey Ed,
What is RDMs stance on Oscar. Does he see him starting or warming the bench? I've been watching him at the Olympics and he looks top class, or at least his way there. It would be a waste seeing him on the bench. Also seeing as the Brazil Coach sees Oscar with Neymar key to his plans for 2014 World Cup.
Ameya {Ed002's Note - He will be a squad player like everyone else.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I think roberto would start him he doesnt mind starting the youngsters especially when there as good as oscar

curt

Agree2 Disagree4

He will be on the bench and gradually give him game time. People need to realise that he's young and he will have to get used to the premier league. I keep seeing him in teams but we won't just chuck him into the deep end. There is no need to rush him into the team as we already have great line of 3 behind the striker in Marin mata an hazard.

Blue con

Agree1 Disagree0

Obviously havent seen him play blue con

Oscar is less than a year younger than Hazard. Shall we leave both of them on the bench?

--------------Cech----------------
--Ivanovic--Luiz-----Cahill---Cole--
--------Mikel---------Lampard-----
--Hazard------Oscar-----Mata-----
--------------Torres--------------

Firstly, i know we need a right back but until we dont have a good one Ivanovic can easily defend against big teams, hes strong and has experience.
I would also prefer to see a Cahill-Luiz duo as our cb's as they are younger and could gain the experience for the next years.
We need Lampard on the pitch, he has the most experience, he secures the ball extremely well and gets us working together and his passing is just amazing.
Oscar could also lie a bit behind Hazard and Mata as he likes to collect the ball from deep.
And if torres doesnt do the job im sure sturridge is capable, he had a fantastic start to the season but unfortunately lost a bit of that skill.
And also Mikel is amazing, he holds the ball and if he plays like he did in the final, im sure he'll be a no-brainer starter.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

So you've left Ramires out? Arguably Chelsea's player of the year last year?

Chelsea Nick

Agree3 Disagree0

Not to mention having Mikel and amazing in the same sentence.

Sev

Agree3 Disagree1

The only no brainer here is you how is rami getting left out your squad?

curt

Agree1 Disagree4

Tery is only 30! And Rami is our engine. A car without an engine doesn't move very well, just like a football team wouldnt play very well

Agree1 Disagree0

Chelsea's player of the year last year was mata, mikel is amazing... and without him we would have been f***ed last year in the champions, i know ramires should be there but where he is too offensive which is good but i think our new attacking midfielders would create more goal chances, mabye putting ramires on the right hazard in the middle and oscar next to mikel/lampard

Agree1 Disagree3

Obv didn't watch a single Chelsea game last season. Tut tut..
Marley

Agree1 Disagree2

No marley i just dont think he supports chelsea full stop

curt

Agree1 Disagree4

Can't support Chelsea if he leaves Ramires out.. If u see the lad play live there is no1 putting in more effort. Gotta be 3/4th name on the team sheet every game when fit.
Marley

Agree1 Disagree1

Hey Sev how about this one. It is amazing that Mikel has been with Chelsea since 2006 and only turned 25 in april.

him and mata were the best 2 players last year

but the old guard saved our seasons

curt

Agree2 Disagree2

01 Aug 2012 00:17:17
So many of you are putting hazard as LM. After watching all pre season games, hazard has looked more dangerous in a CAM position and also spoke about playing in that position before he signed. Based on players we have already, mt team:
Cech
Ivanovic. Terry. Cahill. Cole
Ramires. Oscar
Marin. Hazard. Mata
Torres

It looks as though we are going to purchase 2-3 more players
(Moses,Cesar and a forward).
My preference would be hulk or cavani as an injury to Torres leaves us with Sturridge alone. Lukaku on loan to fulham is a great move if it comes off. Would of preferred de bruyne to stay in prem aswell. But on the plus side, some excellent signings have been made this year and I am more confident going into this season than previous seasons. We have some great, young players with there best years ahead. Don't think we need to panic if it's not working at first, trust di matteo and I'm sure with the quality we now have Torres can come good.

NWBLUE

Believable2 Unbelievable4

The beauty with the 3 behind Torres is that they all have free roles and hopefully the players can get an understanding with eachother to rotate around

Agree2 Disagree0

This is probably the best team I've seen picked with current players. Although we would need to make changes against stronger opposition.

IB.

Agree2 Disagree2

Cesar?? {Ed018's Note - Azpilicueta}

Agree2 Disagree0

No balance to this team

Agree1 Disagree1

I know i was being sarcastic ed :D

Agree1 Disagree3

Balance is dependent on the roles given to players in the team. As long as Ramires and Oscar shared defensive responsibilities this would be a great line up against weaker opposition.

I assume it was the midfield you thought unbalanced.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would we give them defensive responsibilities if there are players better suited to defending. Learn a bit about football then comment.

Agree2 Disagree0

Against weaker opposition Ramires and Oscar should be able to hold there own in those positions, whilst also providing a greater attacking threat and superior fluidity in midfield.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree0

You nether play without a defensive mid especially in the prem

its too unpredictable and if we lost to someone like wigan you would hurl abuse at roberto for playing too much of an attacking team

curt

Agree0 Disagree1

You mean a 'known' defensive midfielder such as Mikel or Essien.

All I'm suggesting is that playing Ramires and Oscar could work. If they are disciplined and work defensively as well as offensively.

If people don't agree that's fine. I just see it paying huge dividends in the transition between defense and attack.

IB.

Agree2 Disagree0

Oh yer if they can do that IB then absolutely agree mate

Hey guys I know there is plenty of time in transfer window but all jokes asside we want to get our players in as quick as possible and settled with team. I believe we will wrap up a right back and Moses in next couple days. I like Torres and truly want to see him succeed but am not crazy enough to put all my eggs in one basket. If we don't get any of high profile strikers we are after what about either Huntelaar or Dzecko. I feel both could be available for much cheaper than the 35+mil we are looking at having to pay plus could easily play role of lone striker and have proven track records. I can easily see either one of these guys scoring goals for us. Don't know if city would sell to us but if not Huntelaar. Your thoughts......

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If i had a say i'd be looking at Lewandowski or Huntelaar. Both scored 20+ goals in a high standard league

Would prefer Lewandowski. Doubt we'll get him though
