The result today was great but just as important moving forward was the performance. It wasn't the best of performances but it was a huge improvement on anything we have seen this season. Costa has so much more to his game than I thought when we first signed him but the stupid kicks out when already on a yellow will one day cause the team problems. Happy for ivanovic after keeping Sanchez limited but still would of liked to see baba and Dave on either side of defence. Don't get me wrong there is still room for improvement but after two good performances the team now have a platform to build on. One thing I will say is Jose put his faith in loftus cheek in midweek and he got MOM, today he plays zouma in place of terry and again MOM. You just have to put these players in as sending them to vitese etc is not beneficial enough. Lastly get in there Moses!!!

Great result for West Ham against City and Moses scored the first goal.

And then did nothing else and was substituted!

We've got Newcastle away next week and they've been a bogey team for us for a while. I'd still like to see Loftus-Cheek come in to the side away from home to give us more solidity in the centre. We then have Southampton and Villa at home which I expect to beat them both with two clean sheets hopefully. We should get 3 wins from our next three games.

That's very possible Eden, it's just left up to team selection and desire.

Newcastle are so bad at the moment we should get 6 - so we'll probably lose 0-1 as usual up there!

I think 6 or 7 points is more realistic.

As Mournho said Chelsea will be in form mid September. Finally we looked as we deserve.

Thought Costa was brilliant today he won the game today old fashioned forward love it.

Great win, all those players that have struggled seemed to return to form.
But it could have been very different, unless Diego learns to concentrate on football and not fighting. It maybe that he gets done retrospectively. He will go from hero to zero.
The only problem is unless he plays one of the kids he has no other options. Remy mr offside and falcao mr uninterested.

Got to say applauding Costa on the way he acts is a disagrace and the reason Chelsea aren't admired the way other teams are, the way he carries himself is a joke

Who cares if other teams admire us? Winning is the most important thing.

Great win we really needed that, the first sending off was massive but TBH imo Arsenal was as poor as I've seen them for at least 2 seasons. Unlike other clubs they chose not to attack our right side and seems they're only plan was to catch us on the counter with a long ball to Walcott. I'm still unconvinced by Ivan who wasn't put under pressure but offers nothing going forward. I also thought this was Cesc best showing of the season so far.

They did try, but Pedro played defensively, very well so Ivanovic wasn't left 1 on 2 as he was in previous games. Dave is much better covered thanks to the fact that Matic is covering our left side. Zouma was really amazing today not because he scored but due to how well he played. Fabregas started playing better and Oscar really means a lot to us.

Good shout, I saw a few attempts just not as consistently as Palace and others but you're right Pedro did a decent job tracking back this match.

Oscar gave the ball away about 7 times in the first half I don't see what the fuss is about again hugely unconvincing performance. only complaint today is why we didn't see loftus cheek come on in midfield to add more energy in second half I hate donkey mikel he's still taking time off rlc even after a mom performance Wednesday sometimes I just can't understand mourinho he's not the same man as he was

I also agree about Costa needing to calm down cause he will get sent off if that was at any ground other than Stamford bridge he would of been off . yes we do applaud him for acting like a maggot but so what he's a hero to us and he breaks his back in the jersey and wears his heart on his sleeve he needs to rediscover the goal scoring form do and calm down a slight bit

Not so sure about Arsenal being poor - I think we out-played them before and after the sending off. We pressed high up the field; broke forward in numbers; passed forward rather than sideways; played at a high tempo - all the things we haven't been doing previously this season.

Have to tell you lads Ivanovic showed the class today he and zouma were the best players

Ivanovic was great today, the whole team did well. Passing sloppy at times and shooting wasn't great but apart from that no real complaints. Hazard looking like last seasons player too!

Surprising that we looked so solid at the back today even 11 v 11 & just bossed it from then on, felt we could of gone for the kill when they went down to 10 but got there in the end!

I'm not so sure that Ivan was 'great' - I still think he's a liability - his improved performance was a lot to do with Pedro's work-rate covering back (but this detracts from Pedro going forward).

Said it weeks ago. Diego does himself no favors with referees by doing this week in week out. It's one thing when he's bagging goals but he's clearly not.

Quite right. Looks likely to get sent off at any time -- perhaps bring Remy on for DC for second half, will offer more pace against 10 man AFC too.

Somewhat surprised with the team selection but here we are with three points albeit against ten and nine men. The big positive is the fact we looked like a team prepared to dig deep which has been missing. The negative, sadly is Diego Costa and his antics. We want goals and it is all very well him antagonising the opposition but it now seems to be his sole intent and on a bad weekend HE could be the one off. Eased the pressures but still not a smooth team performance.

Not sure why we're having a go at Diego, if he's not scoring he's doing the next best thing to get us a result which is to get people sent off, as long as he doesn't get sent off I have no problem with it. Week in week out I watch ref calls go against us we get the least amount of penalty calls for us so I don't care when calls go against our opponents.

19 Sep 2015 17:53:25
Agree with Bluelab, as long as he can maintain the edge and not get sent off or retrospectively banned, IDC what Diego does. We deserved a pen in the first half and we generally don't get many decisions in our favour. If Costa can push players into getting sent off then great.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Sep 2015 19:54:26
But that's the issue isn't it? Diego has gotten banned in the past and may be retrospectively for today. He also gets no penalties called for him because of his antics. While it works on days like today he could've very easily been the one sent off and there's been many times where this was the case.

I may be proved wrong but Fabregas should not be next to Matic. It's wrong selection in a big match. We should have Ramirez there and if Jose wants then he shd play abit forward. Highly unlikely we will keep a clean sheet with our poor defence and no protection from Fabregas.

Loftus-Cheek should be there for me next to Matic and Cesc in a 4-3-3.

Disappointed in that team. Fabregas holding again and Ivanovic starting. Should have gone to a 3 man midfield with Loftus Cheek I thought and Baba left back. Hoping I get proved wrong.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Sep 2015 12:24:30
SMH, for Baba to not even make the bench and we're looking at a right side defence of Pedro, Cesc and Ivan I hope Sanchez doesn't score three before halftime. Maybe Zouma will be playing the rb.

Just saw the line up. Ivanovic somehow gets in again. Seriously! Perhaps, hoping the midweek rest did him him good. More likely we will undo all that confidence from midweek and be back to square 1
