In January I would snap up Barkley and perhaps loan him back to Everton but at least get his signature. We cannot afford to let Man Utd take another young player and turn him world class. We need to be doing this. I would also take a look at Junior Hoilett, lot of potential there and surely no worse than Kalou with room to improve around better players. Look how good Young has done at United. These two players have bags of potential plus the addition of a playmaker and a world class winger, then next summer get Subotic in and we'll soon see the almighty Chelsea back on top.
Keep The Faith!
Scotty.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

So we should sign someone whos played a couple of ok games for everton, and someone who is 'no worse than kalou', really??

Agree7 Disagree0

Well said Scotty, fair points all around. I'd like to suggest players who can fill the void.

Playmaker: Mezut Ozil; not happy with Mourinho's Policies and the way Real Madrid is going and would fit in perfectly with his ability, skill and work ethic. Would also only be around £27-30 million and is only 23/24 so still has at least 7/8 World-Class years left.

Mathieu Vabuena: Very good youngish Right-Winger, good pace and skill and produces wicked crosses, as well as being able to finish clinically. He is already interested in Premier League move and has metioned AVB admiration last year when linked with Porto.Only 26/27 and still very much able to improve. Would cost around £21-£26 million, but i think he would be worth it

As someone on here already said Subotic is tailor-made for Chelsea, but lets go one step further. This probably won't happen but £90 million pound raid for combined deal of Kanagwa, Hummels, Subotic and Goetze. Four World-Class players who still have a long career ahead of each and would be amazing as a young squad along with Lucas Piazon,Kevin De Bruyne, Wallace, Gael Etock, Thibaut Courtois, Patrick Van-Aanholt, Romelu Lukaku, Danny Sturridge, Josh McEachran and Islam Feruz.

I also think we should look for a young but good and Premier League proven Central Midfielder, someone who can defend, tackle strongly and chase loose balls, but can also get forward and break quickly, with a good level of finesse and quality. Now the way i see this, that could be either Rodwell or Wiltshire. I'd prefer the latter and with Arsenal in turmoil, he might think about a move but would probably cost a lot more due to our unfriendly rivalry.

Feel Free to comment other players who could help and why

Agree10 Disagree4

To top responder, didn't Rooney only play a couple of ok games before a 30 million move. Everyone has start from somewhere don't they? Your probably one of those who think we should continually spend 100 million on 30 year old's aren't you? And to CFCFOREVER!, Didn't know Ozil wasn't happy with Madrid's policies, would be interesting to see what Ed has to say about that. No doubt a quality player. Valbuena is a player who is good in streaks but overall would prefer someone else.
Scotty.

Agree6 Disagree0

To above responder:

Ozil isn't happy with Mourinho at the minute, according to my good Spanish sources (Same people who told me 1st of June we were going to beat Arsenal to Juan Mata's signature. As for other point on Valbuena, i can't really think of any others apart from Antonio Valencia, Nani and Eden Hazard.
CFCFOREVER!

Agree6 Disagree2

To Scotty, so your assuming im a fan that has no probs wasting money when you want to spend 20 odd mil on a kid whos had a couple of ok games for everton, oh i see what youve done there, because he plays for everton and is young he must be another rooney haha, we have enough young midfield talent to nuture without spending big money on adding more. why not just let Josh and Piazon develop

Ed I've heard some where somebody said that they thought AVB is in the job to rebuild the squad and also seen a report that Manchester city are willing to accept an o
cut price 35 million from tevez and Chelsea are interested and this is to get him off of the wage bill, And midfield playmaker Ricardo monotlivo (spelling). ED do you have any thoughts on this? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

I saw about the Tevez stuff several times, but i heard it would require someone leaving first.
That person is apparently Didier Drogba.
Now, lets hear thoughts on this apparent Bombshell...

I think the Manchester United game showcased that on our day and with luck not playing such a big factor we can play and possibly beat the top teams in the Premier league and Europe which Manchester is. I think Torres looks a different player to last season and is going along way to convincing me he's not another Shevchenko, even though he missed a easy finish he is creating chances and being put in goal scoring positions which is the key situation now. I was so annoyed at the signing of Meireles but he is playing really well atm and a key player in our squad, his range of passing and consistency has really impressed me. The addition of Mata has obviously helped alot with his natural technical ability and vision.

The recent news that Neymar looks to be signing with Real Madrid hasn't surprised me and the fee of 55m euros is very inflated for such a young talent who in my opinion doesn't have a game suited to the PL.

I saw a member post about possible signings and tbh I really don't think we need that 30/40m marquee name signing to complete our squad long with the financial implications this has on our club. Don't get me wrong I would love us to secure Eden Hazard and Luka Modric but I don't think that is realistic atm.

From looking at our squad and the young talent up and coming such as Lucas Piazon, Josh McEachran, Ullias Davila, Islam Feruz, Gael Etock and so on i think we should concentrate on developing these players to make sure there talent turns out world class which they all have the potential for it to happen.

My signings for January or Next Summer would be as follows -

CB - Gary Cahill - Bolton - Value £12m (6 months left on his contract in January)

CM - Ross Barkley - Everton - Value £15m

LW - David "Junior" Hoilet - Blackburn - Value £12

When I look at CB in the Premier league the best have a British nationality or have the build and hard tackling physical style of a traditional CB. Gary Cahill is this to a tee plus he has some ball playing skills and atm he looks like he has an eye for goal like a young John Terry did in his earlier career when he was scoring 5/6 a season.

I personally believe alot of British players are overrated due to the fact there British, in this case i think Ross Barkley is an exception, he has a real solid all round technical game, good passing, good pace, good vision and can win tackles. He is a young up and coming player who has a very bright future and with the financial situation at Everton being shocking a good offer and they will sell.

We lack on the LW in my opinion, Mata I see as our CAM mid who will be given the ball in the final 3rd and create goals and open up defences with Meireles and Ramires playing behind him. This now opens up a position on the LW and I don't think I am the only person who doesn't believe in Malouda at this top level any more. David Hoilet is my realistic option and what he offers we need. I've watched a couple of his performances this season and tbh I've been very impressed. He possess great pace, very technical and skilful dribbling and an attack minded beat a defender approach which i think we lack slightly atm. He has 3 years of experience in this league now and is holding down a 1st team slot this season. He is young, at a mid to low table club and the chance of winning titles and champions league plus a good offer should be enough to get the player.

All 3 of these potential signings re-enforce us in area's that atm i feel we are lacking depth of quality. All 3 of these players play in hard working teams in the Premier league so have experience and all have come through there clubs academy's or a PL clubs academy so all qualify for home grown player status. These 3 purchases may not be the Modric and Hazard that i have been craving all summer but they make financial sense and i really feel that especially Barkley and Hoilet could turn out to be fantastic players along with a very reliable CB in Gary Cahill.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated and welcomed.

Haha someone else on the barkley bandwagon, hes only played a couple of games mate, and hoilett, i dont think so

Agree2 Disagree3

Actually i watched him play for england under 17's with josh mceachran in the cm and both played exceptional and have followed his development throught the leg break last year. Do ya research before making stupid comments.

PB

Agree2 Disagree2

Hoilet's quite a good player I'd definitely want to see him in the squad.

Agree5 Disagree0

This season hes had one good shot and give away a peno, theres a long list of u-17 players that dont make it at top level, its way to early put a big money bid in for him, he wont get enough chances to develop properly, we need people that can slot straight in, and again 'quite a good player' is that really good enough for chelsea? malouda and kalou could be described as quite good players

I think we showed promising signs yesterday. Lampard was slow as usual and was the wrong choice against the pacey MU. Torres needs service! It is as simple as that. The missed opportunity can happen to the best of them. I think he started celebrating before the ball went to the net. We need to become more technical and less physical as a team and this what Luiz brings. Otherwise, we stand no chance against MU, and Barca.

Gulf in class??, i diddnt see one, game on for the season i say we'll get them 3 points back at the bridge, hardest game of the season out the way, were in form and playing well with a nice run of winnable fixtures coming up to follow, the catch-up begins saturday when we stick 5 or 6 past swansea and Man U will draw at Stoke, Full faith in AVB and Torres after that man u get the points but it was a moral victory for us, UP THE CHELS

Just wanted to ask all the fans out there if you could have three realistic (ish) signings and put them into your Chelsea team right now what would your line up be?

Im not talking like… I would have messi, Ronaldo and sneijder… mine would be

Cech
Bossy
Luiz
Subotic
Cole

Meireles
Ramires
Mata

Hazard
Torres
Di Maria

?????????????

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I would get Robben back, Neymar and Modric.

Agree4 Disagree1

Cech
Ivanovich Terry luiz cole
Modric Ramires
Hazard mata neymar
Torres
I think two of the three is essential if we gonna become top dogs again.

Agree5 Disagree1

Realisitc-ish would be Cahill, Rodwell, Modric, nice mix of traditional english centre half, potential young lampard replacement and another flair player

Team against Fulham?

..........cech.........
Ferreira..Luiz...Alex...Bertrand
...........Oriol.........
......Josh.......Malouda
Anelka......Lukaku...Kalou

Not the best team, but it should be solid, it gives a start to a couple of youngsters, and gives a game to those who havnt had one (and a rest to those that have)
Im not sure if i expect as many changes as my team has, but at the very least i hope Lukaku, Josh and Oriol get a good run out.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

For me cech has has to play. Without him brings a panic whenever a team is 30 yards from our goal. It would make no sense to play younger players that receive no confidence from the goalkeeper. Consequence is defence drops deep to protect him then the midfield drops deep to protect them. The space between midfield and attack becomes enormous. We should have made getting a proper no.2 a priority during the summer.

I thought there were some major pluses from the man u game. I really like the system with two central midfielders a and a support 3 behind Torres. My only concern is that I feel we are short in quality to make this work enough to make the difference. I really like meireles and I think he is a good player but I think we needed a exceptional player for this system. As for the forward three with mata aside I don't know if we have the flexibility between the other players to make this system work. I think Sturridge has earned the right for a run of games but is too easily marked on the right hand side. The introduction of anelka makes a difference as he has the intelligence and flexibility to change from right, left and central. Can't see lukaku being able to play anywhere other than central and can't see him getting enough chances to play there. Torres was brilliant yesterday as was mata and I can see a real link in their play which bodes well for the season. Never been convinced with the terry, ivanovic partnership especially with full backs roaming the way they did. Alex would have been the better option for yesterday's game with Ivanovic at right back. I don't know if avb sees ivanovic as a right back considering he hasnt played a single minute there since he became manager. Just feel we are better defensively with that combination and is what's needed in the top games. Luiz hopefully will return as first choice but yesterday may have came to soon after his injury.

Hi Lads

Watched the game, and as an Arsenal fan i would like to congratulate you on a great game of football. I feeled that you out played the Mancs, keep playing likre this and you could take the league. Also, torres looks like his old self only ganna get bettter, and oh yeah, only reason he missed that goal was to make Rooney feel better :)

Torres looked sharp yesterday and even though he missed an open goal, it was nice to see him score, a great finish it was!

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Torres,2 goals in 22 games, yeah, world beater, what a waste of money, need to get a proper goal scorer in,Tevez will do,hes unsettled, and will score 20 a season,if hed played yesterday we would have got something out of the game, otherwise the team played well.

i actually think chelsea played pretty well against man utd. Finally we seem to be able to play the ball in the middle to torres. You can see that torres will get back to his old form. Cant expect to get any points playing man utd away anyway.. Boas is a fan of attacking football. Better to sometimes be unlucky and loose than to be afraid to loose and play booring. Chelsea will hit back stronger than ever!

I am one of Lampards biggest fans, the guy has been fantastic for us, but I am affraid I agree with people who are saying hes finished. Annelka who I would happily have seen leave at the end of last season should be starting every game for us he has been good so far this season.
Yesterday was the first time in my life i was not dissapointed with losing to utd, dont get me wrong it hurts but we were the better team and we will be there or there abouts come May, a lot of positives from yesterday including Torres.

Hello ED's, Straight away sorry for my English as I am Lithuanian, So what i want to say and ask have you seen same things as me on todays game that Man Utd are just too lucky with decisions made from reffere (spelling) how they were able to give that penalty and didn't see offsides? I am really pissed off with those Red devils as they think they are the best but refferes makes them best this is my own opinion. OK i wrote here too much as I still feel terrible after today, but what can you say about Torres form give a rating from 10 as my one would be 9/10 for everything he done in second half even if he missed that shot

Believable4 Unbelievable4

You talk about refereeing decisions when Cole should have been arrested for his tackle never mind get sent off. Another whinging blue who cannot accept defeat just like your players and club officials. Cole is a w*****r and so is AVB for defending him! It is disgusting that a manager excuses a disgraceful tackle like that by saying it was frustration born out of the officials decisions!! Lets hope that one of the Fulham players doesnt do that to one of your players or you will all be moaning like you normally do.

Bazza you say all this but Rooney, Fletcher, them little s**ts (brazilian twins) are the worst for it and dont get me started on fergie!

Rooney, Fletcher and the twins, when have they ever made a tackle like w*****s? Another know nothing numpty. Enjoy third. {Ed004's Note - And shall we not mention Side Show bob in all this? Ramires lounging into tackles?}

Agree1 Disagree2

Keep congraulating yourselves on how well you played! Doesn't it bother you that you all think you played that weel and ended up with ......nothing!

That it not a good sign!

Dont bang on about tackles from Rooney, Fletcher and the twins when they have clearly never made a shocking tackle like the w****rs. At least none of them ever shot someone with an air rifle, pure class at your club. Hope your proud.
