Looking towards next season i really can't see many of the current squad leaving, maybe 3 or 4 max. Probably Matic and Oscar along with Remy plus either Courtois if he wants out or Begovic if Courtois stays. Maybe one or two loanees will return and one or two academy players will follow Ruben and step up to the squad. I also expect a lot of loans again as per usual plus some of the existing loanees to move on. This brings me to my point, i only really see 4 first team ready signings this summer. A goalkeeper, centre back, central midfielder and a forward. Obviously if Hazard and/ or Costa were to leave they would need replacing on top of the 4. In the spirit of banter what do you think?

Have to agree with you mate. Actually I believe we will sign one star player and couple of less known ones.

Apart from that other signings will be replacements for our outgoing stars: hazard, costa, willian.

I don't see the massive clear out that some people are predicting. Chelsea are going to ask to be compensated based off previous years performance and buying clubs will want to pay based on this years performances which leaves a large gap in valuation. Of the current players in the first team; falcao, Remy, and pato are all gone. With those guys being sold we need another striker, box to box mid, and centrehalf (I don't think we need one but the club is clearly targeting one) . All other first team sales will need direct replacement. Among loan players we never seem able to sell as many players as we attempt to (see Marko Marin) .

Do you really mean that we don't need a new centerhalf? Have you been watching our matches this season?

Tbh I only see us buying another top class centre back if Cahill leaves. Zouma is already ahead of him and Terry won't want to be 4th choice so if we buy a new starting CB that would leave Cahill as 4th choice which I doubt he will accept as he's first pick for England.

I don't believe we need a centrehalf with the current logjam at the position. We have Zouma, Terry, Cahill, and Ivanovic (I don't see him playing fullback ever again) already in the first team. We also have a number of youth players such as Miazga, Clarke-Salter, and Tomori who in all fairness should be loaned. In addition we have Christensen out on loan who will want a spot more or less lined up. Now I personally believe we should sell Cahill as I don't see his stock possibly improving in the next year but if he doesn't play much it will plummet. If we sell him I think an upgrade at centrehalf would be a great piece of business by the club.

Would anyone like to see zlatan playing for Chelsea next season?

Of course mate. If costa leaves and we can't get higuain then we should go for zlatan.

Love it that papers are saying Terry will definitely be at least third choice, behind Cahill and Zouma, but might even be fourth choice, behind Maizga, as he accepts a lesser role. New manager hasn't even taken a training session yet! The rubbish these journo's get paid to put on paper is shocking!

To be fair, he shouldn't be starting for us anymore. So 3rd or 4th choice CB seems about right (though not behind Miazga) . I really believe we need to buy a new starting caliber CB, to pair with Zouma once he returns from injury. Then Cahill and Terry as backup CBs.

Why shouldn't terry start as first choice, regardless of age he is still our best defender. Until the club buy a good enough replacement he has to start. We have purchased two defenders in 12 months in miagza and hector, to be honest I'm not sure their even premiership quality, never mind Chelsea. If terry or anyone else is playing bad then a squad player gets a chance, simples.

Wow, you're really deluded, NWBLUE. First of all, Zouma is already now a better defender than Terry. Secondly, you've got to keep in mind that Terry probably only has one more season left in him, and since he hasn't exactly been outstanding this season, we've got to explore other opportunities. Thirdly, if you honestly were to think that Terry is still our best defender, you've got to wonder - if he's our best defender still, is that then good enough? Or should we try to get something more world class?

EmilSC, zouma is a good player with the potential to be great, but to say he's better than terry at defending, please wake up. Terry along with the whole squad had a very poor season. Look at his performances only 12 months before. In terms of defending John terry is better in the air and positionally than any of our defenders. You have to also think most of the top defenders are already at big clubs with top European football to look forward to next season, leaving it hard for us to want them to join Chelsea. Another season with terry and who knows, maybe Christensen will be that young world class defender where looking for.
