Opinion on RB
Just wandering what people thought about this position, it is clearly one we are attempting to strengthen and there are a lot of options. IMO my preference is Piszczek as i believe he was last season the best RB in Europe, but i am not even sure Chelsea are interested and his price tag would be large. VDW has not got the talent as far as im concerned, i though this before the euros, and he has done nothing to change my mind. I am not sure about Debuchy, i think the reported interest is simply in relation to the Euros, and i doubt it will lead to anything, as i dont think Chelsea would sign a player based on one comp. Cesar may be the best option all in all, he has the talent, is young but not cheap, and i believe something has cooled in that situation between the two clubs.

So all in all a complicated position, what are your opinions?

How does Gerrard get so much praise ??

Seriously his 5 yard passing is shocking and him ad Parker look so flat in the middle

So overrated !! Just has a good cross

Thoughts ??

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I bet if he played for Chelsea people would say he's awful. Lampard has never got enough praise and in my opinion his career has outshone Gerrard.
All this talk that Lampard didn't allow Gerrard to attack for England....BS. This tournament Gerrard has been hugging the defence and Lampard is not there...Parker is.

Agree4 Disagree0

Lampard has started doing the same him and Mikel if u actually watch games side passing bulls**t this is from a Chelsea fan

Agree1 Disagree1

My biggest problem with Gerrard is his positioning, he runs around the pitch like a headless chicken, and when a counter is on he is found out of position with others having to help. I believe it is the same with liverpool, there was a great article about it.

Agree1 Disagree1

Just an idea, but do you think Gerrard could have been asked to play more defensively by Hodgson?

IB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan curbishley said," gerrard the player of the tournament" for him ,on sky this morning ?..rayzor

Agree1 Disagree0

Ian wright the sun, steven gerrard was outstanding!!!not quite sure who knows what their talking about.pros or posters.?

Agree1 Disagree0

Honestly , how can anyone seriously come on here and slate Gerrards performances in this tournament.
He's a big game player who has shown all his qualities on and off the ball. Tackling , passing , vision , work rate. The bloke has got the lot.
People have short memories , wasn't it the fans favorite and messiah Jose mourinhio who tried to buy Gerrard twice for Chelsea, if that had happened and he wore the blue of Chelsea then all the posters on here slating him would be whistling a different tune I'm sure.
Please take off the blue tinted glasses and appreciate the qualities that Gerrard brings.
I know I'd rather listen to the opinions on top players like Roy keane

Agree1 Disagree0

We are all awaiting your reply jm 10 ?

Agree0 Disagree0

I will say jm 10

gerrard is a bit overrated but done well at the euros

but i dont know how anyone can say parker isnt good mate, hes probably been player of the tournament so far, atleast for england anyway

curt

Agree1 Disagree4

Not according to curbishley, and to be fair curt he knows a bit more than you..

Agree5 Disagree3

Scott Parker player of the tournament , what have you been smoking. He's not even England's stand out Player.

chellsea should get rid of essien, malouda, meireles, turnbull, hilario and sturridge
loan out lukaku McEachran an piazon
use de bruyne as a super sub
and buy walcott, azpilicueta and fellaini

Believable0 Unbelievable6

No don't loan out piazon if he stays with us until he's 21 hell be home grown if he goes he wont

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree with the outs, not with the ins

Agree1 Disagree2

I agree that many of the players you want out will not get much game time next season. However you overlook the fact that they provide vital experience within the squad meaning if all of the mentioned leave, you will find your SQUAD to be hugely inexperienced. Plus if one of them leaves the squad morale changes as many others are affected as they have lost one of their mates in the dressing room. EG. Ferreira helps Brazil/Portugese players settle at the club and learn the language. P.S Walcott is absolute trash!

Agree3 Disagree0

Seem to remember from a previous comment by an Ed that Piazon will be classed as homegrown as long as he plays under the English FA, so a loan to an english club wouldnt affect it ..... I think.

One thing I did forget on the night it happened... But the season review reminded me of it...
Against Barcalona. Mereiles had been playing in the midfield commonly in the CL campaign and you can guess he would have been in the final squad...
Barcalona broke off from an attack and swarmed forward, led by Iniesta. Mereiles had been booked in the first game and bundled Iniesta to the ground, with no attempt to play the ball. He was booked for it. I don't need to remind you the rest.
If you want to slate him for his ability, I don't disagree with that. But I think he deserves a bit of credit for doing that. How many of us would really do that? Sacrifice a spot in the squad to help your team?
A few of us would say that we would (me included) but I know I couldn't do that. He has some spirit for that.
In my opinion, he is a decent squad player and scores a few goals from the midfield, I think we should keep him. Sturridge should be kept unless we get a great offer for him and I certainly don't want Walcott who is even more inconsistent than Sturridge in our colours.
My ideal ins:
Debuchy
Jovetic
Hulk
(And some youngsters)
Anyone got any other thoughts?
CFCFOREVER!

Believable8 Unbelievable2

We need to buy English talent, Kyle Walker and Victor Moses seem to people we should be targeting, both English, both young and both solve a purpose, we have no winger depth and we desperately need a RB. I love the idea of Hulk but i think the price is far to much, he scored 21 goals last season, 9 of these were penalties, that means 12 were from open play and even then i would assume 1 or 2 would be free kicks. In comparison Sturridge scored 12 goals. £38m seems a lot for a winger who has the same scoring record as Sturridge and has been labelled greedy and not a great decision maker. I do rate Hulk i am just concerned about the price.

PB

Agree3 Disagree0

I know sometimes meireles makes s**t passes but he's work rate for the team is unbelievable. I like meireles good squad midfielder. We also have lamps and ramires who attack, Romeu and Mikel holding. That's all we need with mceachran and piazon. Let the bison go.

Agree3 Disagree0

Erm.....PB ,Victor Moses is a home grown player but he isn't English he's Nigerian, wasn't invited for England so he chose to play for Nigeria, I think a few months ago.

Ryan, sam,JT,ashley, cahill, turnbull, lampard, sturridge so that makes 8 home grown players..supposing,malouda,kalou, bos, feriera, benayoun, meireles,DD wil leave, that frees 7 slots for foreign players,so we will be having 10 or 12(considering hulk and new rb) foreign players and 8 home grown players.i dont see the need of signing home grown players, for the sake of completing the quota, unless they are real talents, and i think moses is one of those and but not walcott.but since ed said we are looking at homegrown players, which i believe is true, lets talk about the best home grown talents!can you suggest some gems that fall under home grown category?

silv3rzz ;) {Ed002's Note - You need to put a space after punctuation marks or the posts will eb deleted as they foul up the page formatting.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Kalou and Bosingwa have already left, been released. If we dont have 8 homegrown players I believe we have to leave space in the squad, ie: if we only had 7 HG players we could only submit a 24 man squad list, I doubt homegrown players will be a huge issue though looking at our current squad, youth and potential signings.

On this day 1 month ago

Didier drogba stepped up with the weight of expectation on his shoulders

He did this after scoring a dramatic equaliser and then giving away a penalty that should have been advantage bayern

This time he was the 5th penalty taker in the final shoot out, to crown us European champions

To beat bayern on their own back yard and to find the holy grail

Drogba is immortal at this football club

Hell never be forgotten

Chelsea have given up on their raid for Lucas Moura after deciding that paying upwards of £32m is too much of a risk on a 19 year old player. Instead they will revert their attention to Luka Modric and hope that a deal can be completed around the £30m mark on the condition that Modric hands in a transfer request as expected. To complete their business Chelsea will complete their £38m deal for Hulk who will play on the right of the 3 behind Torres next to Mata (playing centrally) and Hazard on the left (DiMatteo's preferred formation is 4-2-3-1). Ramires will return to a central midfield position and Chelsea now hope he will operate next to Modric. The remaining midfield options of Lampard, Essien and Mikel will rotate in and out. Merieles is likely to make way for Modric but may be kept should McEachran be moved on loan. Sturridge is likely to move as DiMatteo can not use him in his formation as he is greedy and doesn't work hard enough. In this instance Lukaku is likely to remain and be considerably further up the pecking order. The only other likely major signing is a right back however Chelsea do not want Ivanovic forced out of the team so the cost of the right back is likely to be less than expected. The club are considering a 3 year deal for Croatian captain Dario Srna for £11m who would provide experience and world class set-pieces/crosses or they are considering Debuchy from Lille for around £8m. The club have ended their interest in Van Der Weil because of his inability to defend (they do not want to make the same mistake as they did with Boswinga). The only other likely minor signing is a new back-up goalkeeper to replace the aging Hilario. Courois will remain on loan in Madrid.

What the hell is this site coming too? Walcott had a p*ss poor season and has had the same sort of career. Plays one game off the bench and scores and people want him at Chelsea? Sturridge has the potential to be a world beater. He is a 22yo arrogant striker, exactly what you want in a striker. RDM did excellently in pulling him back in line over the last 3 months, not playing him and it resulted in an assist when he got a game. Give the bloke a break! Melbourne CFC

Believable5 Unbelievable4

He is a arrogant little crybaby always moaning that he is not in the team or being played out wide. He needs to realise he is nowhere near as good as all the hype, he is extremely 1 footed, arrogant, lazy and greedy. If he wants to go he must be sold, and if he wants to stay then great get his head down, play when and wherever the manager tells him to and do a job for the team. And yes Danny that means passing the bloody ball once in a while

Agree3 Disagree2

Mate I'm not disagreeing that he is greedy, I have eyes. Theo Walcott though? Are people taking the p*ss?

Melbourne CFC

Agree1 Disagree3

Theo would be a huge mistake, even arsenal fans aren't sure about him. I say give Danny at least 1 more season, his talent is undoubted and hopefully he will mature abit. My big problem with Theo is that he really doesn't seem like he has a lot going on in his skull...

Suprised I haven't seen a whole lot of talk about the fixture list. First off I gotta say I'm happy. The worst part of our last two years (December & January) are littered with lower clubs. There also is a softer start to the season which will help our new players gel in at the new level without playing top teams. Finally I was pleased there wasn't an extremely extended run of difficult games. I think all of this will help prevent a bad run that's plagued our last two years. Also look forward to getting that world club championship title in january.
