Alvaro Moratta. Welcome!

Very satisfied with the agreement. He has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

I will not insult Diego Costa at all even though his recent actions towards the club have been quite selfish. For me the guy was an absolute man mountain and he will not be forgotten for the goals he scored for us in winning the 2 league. Respect to the guv'nor.

Well said CFC. Totally agree.

Morata is a fantastic signing, hopefully Bats will stay as well. 4 in now and squad gradually taking shape. One or even 2 wingbacks, another attacking midfielder and possibly another centre back (if Zouma goes on loan) and forward and we can compete at the very top table. Well done Don Conte and thankyou Roman. Turning into a great Summer window.

Really hope Zouma on loan to Stoke means Christensen is being given his chance in the squad this year.
I agree with G8, I think we've done some very good business in what is evidently a crazy market.
It still feels like Wing Back is an important position for Conte so will be interesting to see what happens there given he's just put pen to paper again (they didn't waste any time over Morata! )

If Christensen stays then we don't need another CB. I think our next priority should be another fullback (either a RWB or LWB) . Potentially anothe CM but that largely depends on whether we're keeping Baker etc. Anything else is a bonus imo.

Sky sources understand Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign Alvaro Morata.

Everybody seems to believe Morata is closing in. I will be 100% satisfied with that and I see it as an upgrade to a cyclothymic, unreliable and a liability of a man Costa. He will fit in the system well.

19 Jul 2017 18:03:34
Bit of respect mate, he's led us to 2 titles in 3 years!

Agree2 Disagree3

19 Jul 2017 18:19:09
How is he an upgrade? Costa is world class, Morata is not.

Agree4 Disagree2

19 Jul 2017 20:12:25
Costa is only world class on his day and the man has too many off days and throw in poor discipline and I think we will be an all round better team with him gone.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 20:27:32
Of course Costa can be infuriating, but when focusing on playing is exceptionally good. Have just been looking again at some of his goals, and the number of points he gained us last season, often with nigh solo efforts. He will be missed. NOw to have had Morata as an addition to Costa in a season with CL and EPL would have been fantastic. Want MB in squad too, and with more game time, but surely nowhere near Costa (or Morata) as yet.

19 Jul 2017 21:09:01
Let's not write him off yet!

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 21:27:38
Byrrab your comments are rather silly.

I'm sure all Chelsea fans will agree Diego Costa was more than reliable and brilliant striker. I think your forgetting his goals that won us the league on 2 occasions. Morata is a brill piece of business but he is not an upgrade to Diego Costa yet. Hopefully he has the potential to be an upgrade.

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Jul 2017 21:35:32
World class? I don't think so.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 22:11:37
Costa wasn't world class when he joined neither. I'm sure Antonio knows what he's doing and who he wants. Plus I'd take his choice of players over anyone else's opinions.

Agree4 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 23:27:51
Is costa world class? Terrible attitude, terrible temperament, misses some sitters, always pulling out wide, falls over too easily. Not a professional we need at our club I'm afraid.

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 00:31:59
Fundamentally, Costa was bad for both the image of the club (let's face it, it doesn't take much for clubs to dislike us! ) AND the squad.
Those images of him kicking the crap out of the training ground still disturb me and they appeared to disturb the rest of the players too!
In any case, I remain convinced he played a part in Mourinho's change in attitude (besides of course, the ahem, antics* of John Obi Mikel and B. Ivanovic) .

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 14:23:09
If it's true that Danilo wants to go to City to sit in the bench behind Walker then let's go for Jeremy Toljan. He's a cracking young player.

Am sorry to be negative but I just can't be positive at the moment! Anyone see the group picture of the players as they set off for preseason? What a shambolic squad that is. 24 days till we kick off the new season and we are massively short especially in attack. We are 6/7 players short!

We fighting in 4 different comps this year and we are in this state! We going to be in a mad rush to get deals done and we going to end up with players that are not good enough with the likes of llorente. This is mad am thinking to the point do we ask if we can get Adam Johnson on day release to make up numbers.

I suppose I got to trust the club but leaving it this late and not getting a preseason together is risky! Like I said sorry for negative post.

If rumours are true we're close to getting morata in gutted, I know few you guys wil be pleased but not sure what he offers except good link up play. not a goal scorer not big strong striker yet not small and tricky and not the fastest of players. Huge downgrade from Diego IMO,

Believable2 Unbelievable2

19 Jul 2017 16:01:15
Totally disagree. But fair play for having an opinion.

Costa had only one decent season prior to Chelsea, and he turned out very well, apart from his discipline.

Moratta is really complete, but don't listen to me. Just about every decent journo rates him ahead of Lukaku.

I guess if he comes you'll be delighted if you're wrong.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 17:03:23
I think if he does sign we will get a very good player. At 6'2" he is not small, he is quick enough to play on either wing, with good control and shot in both feet and he his also creative; what is not to like. He has 33 goals in 46 games at various international levels and given the minutes on the pitch his scoring ratio at RM is excellent. He also takes away the constant threat of being booked or sent-off which I found irritating with Costa who was never a favourite of mine. Personally, I think a good buy and superior to Lukaku.

19 Jul 2017 12:01:07
I know this wouldn't please everyone, but I just wonder if Conte is going to give Loic Remy a chance. We were all surprised when he gave Moses his chance and that worked out amazingly. Conte has a thing for trusting so called lesser players, remember giacharini (from Sunderland) at the Euros last summer, he was not great for Sunderland but Conte had him playing exceptionally for Italy.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

19 Jul 2017 12:10:55
If it carries on this way with no new striker coming in, he'll have no choice but to keep Remy as backup to Batshuayi!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 13:48:31
I kind of undestand what you're saying, and he could be forced to stay if we don't sign anyone, but his injury record of the past few seasons has been woeful at best so would be an extremely unreliable back-up option imo. Not to mention the fact that he hasn't been prolific nor proven he can make an impact as a sub, so I really don't see why we would keep him.

19 Jul 2017 07:50:03
Hey ed, with sandro not leaving Juventus, will Chelsea be signing any other left back or sticking with Kenedy?

Is Chelsea really serious about signing Danilo?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2017 07:10:45
Hey eds hope u all well. With Aubamyang staying, no joy with aguero or Sanchez, Boletti no deal and seemingly no for morata who woukd you like to See as striking options. Me i wo6ild like Bats to be giving a good run with decent back up cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - doesn't matter to me. The one thing I don't want is a Benteke or Llorente becoming the starting forward. That would be a massive step backwards}

19 Jul 2017 12:00:57
So what's happened with aubamayang. from Dortmund offering to him staying in few days.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 13:50:23
I'd steer far clear of Benteke. If we truly cannot get any of the options we've been linked with, I'd be happy enough to stick with Batshuayi as first choice and bring in Dembele as second choice and Llorente as 3rd choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 08:27:56
Right gents, interesting piece of information from Ed2 on Alvaro Moratta who says that 'he is expected to leave this summer but right now he is not the first choice for anyone'. I thought he may have been first choice for Chelsea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2017 01:46:23
id love it if we don't get a top striker in then batman goes and bangs in 30-40 goals lol he defiantly good enough to do it.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2017 08:15:09
I wouldn't love it if we didn't sign a top striker. I would be dissapointed but having said that I have confidence in Batshuayi to start scoring and improving and developing as a player game by game.

I think should he stay then this year he will be given more game time in any event. He isn't competing with Diego Costa which can be a positive for any striker. Diego has let himself down but in my opinion he is still one of the best, if not the best striker in world football.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 09:00:51
Batshuayi must stay in first team squad and get much more laying time this season, but we must have a world class striker there too. We have Champions League as well as EPL and we need a squad that is bigger and more powerful than last season's, not weaker. Resigning Bertrand as home grown player with EPL and CL experience might make sense, but we also need to add some of our youth plus two or three proven world class players to squad, including at least one striker. Hopefully Conte (now contract sorted) and board will get tings moving more swiftly and decisively now.

Rumours that Belotti gone to AC Milan and City in for Danilo (just how much money are City allowed to spend?! ) . The Manchester clubs ooking set to have more strength n depth than us.

Anyway have just bought my Burnley tickets and will start the season, as ever, with hope and fervent support for the team.
