is there any news on this bruma kid from sporting CP? there was some article claiming they had quotes from his agent saying a deal with chelsea will be done soon but as its a quote I know not to believe it and was wondering if you had any news?
cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't expect any news until the legal row over his contract is sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the legal row is over the contact is done. FIFA confirmed that the player is contracted to Sporting for another season, which is the years extension he disputed. His solicitor will probably still try and argue that his position at the club is untenable due to the kidnap attempt but a fee will still need to be agreed. 12 million euros is being touted by the press.

Ed018 if player submit transfer request does his club have to put price for the player or club can simply say no? If club set price and not sell player (for ex. club can not reach agreement with other club ) ddoes players club has to pay some % to player.? Appreciate your explanation. {Ed018's Note - I really don't know maybe someone else can chime in}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whilst a player is under contract he does not have to be sold, regardless of whether he submits a transfer request or not.

However, there are issues that then come in to play, such as what disruption to the rest of the team would it cause if he stays. How is the player's attitude?. Is he still prepared to play for the club?

In Rooney's case he wants out and I believe the real reason he was sent back home from United's tour was his attitude.

United do have a problem if they keep hold of him. it will be a gamble if they keep him

Thanks mate!

When sold, a player gets 5% of the transfer fee, if he doesn't submit a transfer request.

Hope all our eggs are not in Rooney basket, a saga which seemingly looks set to drag on til deadline day and may see us miss out on necessary strengthening of striker department. OK, we seem to have missed out on Falcao and Cavani because not willing to meet size of price tag, but think Jovetic could have suited us well -- seems v skilful indeed -- and agree with some others on this site that Dzeko might be a good and uncomplicated signing in Morinho style of big front man. Not sure about Higuin, haven't watched him closely enough, but would be interested to hear what others think about him (steeling from under Gooners' noses always appealing). VBS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jovetic has had a lot of injuries, I think the prem will ruin him. In my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jovetic also in not an out and out striker. He has a fairly poor goal scoring record as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for JOvetic info -- if what you say is true, am a bit reassured! VBS

Agree0 Disagree0

Jovetic is not an out and out striker, he does not score enough goals. He is more of a number 10, which we have plenty of.

(banter)

Any chance that Mourinho doesn't actually want Rooney? We all know he likes the minds games. Could he be trying to cause as much trouble as possible for Manchester United and Moyes, only to end up getting someone like Higuain and start the season with a troubled off Rooney/Moyes? I know the Utd fans will certainly be irate with the way Rooney's acted!

Just a thought, but you never know!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe Jose wants Rooney and he enjoys upsetting United.

Moyes is a very inexperienced manager at the top level, no European experience, no trophy success and no experience of managing a top club and the players associated with one. JM is aware of this

Quote here from Bruma's agent;

"It is not a pleasant situation for a young man to be in when there is a tug-of-war, but I think the coming days there will be news. We are all committed to trying to resolve the situation so everybody is happy. "

Make of that what you will, Ed's do you expect/hope to see him in a Chelsea shirt soon?

Why is there all this hate for ba and Moses

IMO we need a strong squad and these two are easily good enough cover!

It's not all about the starting 11 people

My thing with ba is lukaku is a very similar type of striker who is locked on to stay with the club and demba would eat into his minutes which will be very valuable.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is ba and lukaku similar, I don't see that myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember praying for Ba to start games last season over Torres, I think people are forgetting his goals against Utd and City, very handy player to have on the bench, or to chuck on with Lukaku if we're struggling.

Agree0 Disagree0

One injury and we grossly lack depth.
Lukaku will make his mark.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moses is slow, selfish and useless.
When he played at old trafford in the fa cup last year it was embarrassing.

We have De Bruyne and Schurrle now, no need for his lack of quality

Jordan

Agree0 Disagree0

Ba and lukaku are both target men whose games aren't incredibly refined but physically they're a match for anyone. That's how they're similar.

Tk

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Moses would be a better striker than a winger. In my opinion. On the wing he hardly beats a man and when he does his crossing is terrible. And his lack of understanding team mates is just as bad. But he can score and got an eye for goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moses was a last minute buy that year. We now have better alternatives. Unless he qualifies for home grown (really not sure about that either way) he should go.

Ba i'd keep unless we aquire another striker and keep Torres. We need depth - which in my mind is 3 strikers and use Schurrle as a 4th option. However, if we do get another top striker in AND keep Torres, then those two (whoever comes in ) and Lukaku would be my choice for the 3 spots.
