Ampadu is absolute class nearly every time I've seen him play.

Being beaten 3 times by a really poor utd team in 1 season is bad but is it that we are just as poor or tactically outwitted on 3 occasions either doesn't bode well.

1. why is giroud not playing he should of been playing from mid Dec for me when tammy went off boil bat's is a sub certainly not a starter but it's worrying we have a world Cup winner who plays 3rd choice behind a young and upcoming player and a second choice player.

2. Reece James has been brilliant this year but that has meant azpi playing on left. why Play Emerson or alonso yes alonso isn't the best but he's better on the left and a left footer balances team better round peg in square hole.

3. Kante isn't suited in middle 3 it's so obvious. Kovacic is a great player in right position and that's in a 2 with kante. We keep playing 433 and with procession based play which leaves us wide open at back especially with jorginho as protection my granny was faster whilst carrying shopping in her slippers on ice after her hip surgery. I like jorginho as a player but he isn't right for Chelsea with current players and formation.

Kepa hopefully comes good I think he should of played against utd I know there trying to probably send a message by sending big willy in but against big teams he should still play.

Mason Mount what is his position when kepa was dropped I thought he might replace him as Frank seems to fancy him over everyone else don't know why goo professional but what does he genuinely offer a big team if we are a big team still
Frank imo has changed our back four way to much and that's not good for a solid base of a team I believe you build a team from the back. Why are pulisic cho competing for same spot when pulisic preferred position is on right.

I don't want to be negative but sarri was abused big time and he had a far better season. Yes we had a transfer ban and hazard left but we are losing far to many matches. I wouldn't be worried if we were losing away to the big boys but we are losing home games to teams we should be winning against easily with our squad
We seem to be very weak mentally and that is surely we're the coaching comes in.

I agree with most of your post. I think lampard is worried about leaders and that is why he plays azpilicueta on the left as he can't drop James. I do think that the criticism of Mount is too much. He has definitely come off the pace in recent months but with youth you have to be patient and give them the chance of being good enough otherwise we may aswell keep buying players.

Couple of things about Ampadu performance which was very good given his lack of playing time.
He was given a lot of time by the Spuds which he wouldn't get against many PL teams.
Secondly whilst I think he could become as good as Luiz in a relatively short time we need a defensive rock at the heart of our defence which I don't see him becoming in the short term.
I agree that his best position currently is midfield but I think he will need a loan for a full season somewhere he plays regularly before being considered for a starting place.

I do Believe Ampadu and Tomori/ Zouma parnetship should work amazingly.

You can see Ampadu has leader qualities in him just need to give the boy some confidence by telling him that you believe in Him.

I actually surprise that Christhensen get so much game time recently as in my opinion he is our weakest defender of all 4.

I will always back Frank, but I think if he's stupid enough to go with Michy again Saturday he's the master of his own downfall. I'd start Giroud from
Now on his hold up play is fantastic and if we can get James and Emerson either side with decent crosses it would help. We don't see any better defensively with Azpi at LB to be fair.

I would like to see Tomori back and paired with Zouma again. We had much better form with them two at the back and when we played Kovacic, Jorginho and Mount in the middle. Not a massive lover of Jorginho or Mount but we need to find the team that plays best together.

Ever since Kante and Rudiger have been back in the side we've lost our mojo. We are short on attackers though that's why I wouldn't mind seeing 3 at the back on Saturday with Mount and Willian behind Giroud.

Playing 3/ 4/ 3 makes the best of the squad we have its very simple.
Alonso in particular and James both are capable of contributing both assists and goals as we have seen
Playing Tomori the left side of a three protects Alonso due to his pace which is that of a quick full back.
Playing a back three which includes Kurt our best defender this season also adds up to a stronger package at set pieces as does Alonso
Up front Giroud gives prescence and a focal point which would allow Mount to play off him and get more chances to score.
Midfield perm two from three but I would go with the pace of Kova and Kante.
The manager is fixated with his style rather than results which in a nutshell is why we are not delivering enough good results to stay in the top 4.
If the current approach continues I would expect 6/ 7th which isn't good enough with our squad.

I know a lot of us (myself included) have criticised Lampard over the past month or so. But we just have to remind ourselves of the players at our disposal right now, plus we lost our best player and top goal scorer in the summer.

There are not many managers out there who would have done much better than what Lampard has done with the players at his disposal this season after our transfer ban. Just look back to last season, Sarri had Hazard and we were barely any better than this season.

I know it's frustrating with how we're playing and the results we're getting currently, but Frank needs time to mould this team as to how he wants it. If after a few windows the players Frank has brought in and the results don't pick up then we maybe have to question if Frank is the right man for the job.

Klopp at Liverpool wasn't an immediate success, but with time we can all see what he has done. I'm not in any way saying Frank will replicate that success at Chelsea, but he at least needs a window or two to mould the team together.

Times might be tough right now, but let's all stick together and get behind the team. C'mon Chelsea!

i agree hugely on this point frank deserves a chance to sell players he doesn't feel he needs or haven't shown enough quality over the course of his first season. He should be able to tell the club who he trusts going forward and who he feels should be moved on. he needs at oeast 5 new starters in his 11 in my opinion and he deserves his time to get it right.

Good post Bobby.

I don't think the majority want Lampard sacked, maybe a minority do and some are on the fence but that is part of the debate and no one is wrong here. It's a very subjective debate.

You say there aren't many managers out there who would have done any better? Again that is very subjective because we all know some managers can bring life into players regardless of their skill set and age. I. e. Under Conte both Moses and Alonso were excellent. As for Alex Ferguson he pretty much made everyone play to high levels.

I personally would like Frank to succeed. He has been unlucky with injuries but so have rival managers, two who have no strikers in the team at the moment. I'm hopeful the league table will be a reality check for the squad now. Maybe the players got in their comfort zone knowing everytime we dropped points our rivals did aswel. It's a dog fight now! If the team plays to a decent standard I'm sure we will get top 4. I'm not even asking for brilliant standard.

Lampard needs to re-think his short term vision and steady the ship again. He has made mistakes, however I have every faith he will turn this around starting this Saturday.

Once again, credit to all the posters and Ed's for sharing individual opinions which have been greatly received.

As I have mentioned earlier, I do believe fans are turning their backs on Lampard way too quickly.

I think strong start to our campaign didn't help as everyone's expectations were raised. If before the season we would have asked ooir fans if we would have taken the position we are in now 80% of people (if not more) would have taken it.

Agree even if we finish 7th we have such a poor squad and have been unlucky with injuries. Frank definitely needs one window to show his worth. Ziyech will be a great edition.

Nobody should blame Lampard, I think he has done well considering the resources at his disposal. He (Lampard) has brought the team to the extent where one can clearly see the needs and deficiencies of the team (I think that is progress looking back from where we were at the beginning of the season) ; if the board and club cannot show more ambition in the transfer window (in all departments of the team- Defense, midfield and attack especially) then I think they should sit quietly and be patient 5th/ 6th position or Europa league position.
We are where we are supposed to be considering the players that we have g.

I called for Frank to be replaced by Poch on Monday night and I know that it was a knee-jerk reaction to a terrible result against Man Utd. I so want Frank to succeed but as much as we shouldn't have knee-jerk reactions neither should we allow ourselves to be influenced by the fact that Frank is a Chelsea legend and a hero to us all.

The facts are these - 4 wins in the last 14 Prem games and Frank and Jody seem incapable of being tactically adept. The pair of them increasingly look like deer caught in the headlights.

Things have to change and quickly.

Do you think clubs take any account of opionions expressed on Social Media Ed002?
As far as I know he has the support of the majority of match going fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes - as an example Liverpool's coach named two players affected by social media.}

19 Feb 2020 17:12:19
That really surprises me given the ill informed and extreme views that social media attracts.
I can understand individual players being affected by negative comments but clubs listening to 'keyboard warriors'in essence is worrying.

{Ed002's Note - One PL club employs a specialist company to review and report on all media and social media activity about the club and players each week.}

19 Feb 2020 18:04:58
That's really interesting Ed - it should be taken seriously too. Some of the stuff that goes up on social media is beyond crazy. You wonder how these people react to things in their lives that really matter!

We have had the mindless keyboard bullies on this site from time to time, although I think it’s the same posters using different names.

I’m not sure what joy or pleasure anyone can get out of posting abuse about anyone let alone a team or player they say they support.

The excuse that it’s free speech or banter is pathetic.
