Watching the mighty Munich tonite you realise just how far we have fallen in the last 10 months, and what an achievement it was to mug them in their own ground. priceless.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

They've added some really nice pieces and we've kind of stayed the same. Also let's not kid ourselves about who controlled that game either.

Agree5 Disagree1

We may have fallen a bit but maybe their performance spoke more about the gooners than us.

When they played us we stuck 11 men behind the ball and managed to sneak a victory. we didn't play well. we haven't fallen off that badly.

Squad for 2013/2014 season:

Cech - New GK - New GK
Azpi - Kalas - Iva - Cahill - Terry - Luiz - Cole - Bertrand
Mikel - Romeu - Oscar - Lampard - Ramires
Moses - Mata - de Bruyne - Hazard - Marin
Cavani - Demba Ba - (Feruz if needed)

Think we should learn how to play another formation as well, any suggestions? I think a 4-3-3 should be our starting formation. And a new one to be trained with two up top

The squad you have picked is 16 points behind UTD give or take 1 or 2 people more changes needed sell Ramirez ivanovovitch and Bertrand not good enough for CFC

Agree7 Disagree9

You people have been spoiled by our success and now make stupid remarks like that one. 1. I HOPE lamps is still there, I didn't say that's the definate squad, it is what I would like it to be. And you're all the same with the managers as well. Why can't you have faith and patience for once. I hope Arsenal go on to dominate football for a few years because their loyal fans deserve it. You lot are spineless! Bertrand is a youngster for petes sakes! and learn to spell!

Where is Lukaku?

If you think about netting over 100 goals in 45 games this season basically without a striker because let's face it torres has done nothing! So just think if we had falcao or cavani next season how far better we will be! Am well up for next season we all knew this season was a transitional period

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Intergration of the youth is key! McEacheran, Lukaku and Piazon need another year on loan. One of the yound Center Backs needs to join the squad. Depending on weather or not Marin can capture any sort of form, the new manager need to make a desision with him. If he leaves, I expect a bid from Chelsea for Isco, which will eventually fail, And the intergration of Kevin de Bruyne instead. If he stays (which I hope he does) the KdB should get another year on loan. At which point Oscar will then be dropped back and that will make room for him. Thoughs?

Agree3 Disagree6

Isco as a replacement for Marin?

Oh no we've got another one!

Kevin De Bruyne

how will wallace be used next season? will he go iinto the u21 team or the first team as a replacement for paulo?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

He will go into the U21's Alessandro. Ed002 has said in the past the man behind the deal has said that he needs to be effectively retrained in defending. May get a run in the cup though i'd say, he has a lot of ability.

Agree1 Disagree2

Would like see see Kalas back then as backup right back and centre back as he's been great for Vitesse Arnhem

CfcBenWxm

Agree7 Disagree0

Cheers Melbourne. Would I then be right in assuming we will continue to use Iva as back up for Azpi in that position? Because I think Ed002 has said in the past we won't be getting another right back.

Especially with Paulo leaving, one of the new young center backs must be intergrated into the team to have enough depth. They may even get a few extra games due to Terry's increasingly frequent injuries.

Agree1 Disagree4

To be honest, knowing Chelsea I reckon he's going to go out on loan. but yes I am a BIG fan of Kalas. can see him pushing iva and cesar next season

Agree1 Disagree4

I'd imagine Kalas will be used as cover for Azpillicueta Alessandro. He has played there a fair bit for Vitesse and done a decent job. He will certainly be our first choice centre half in a couple of years.

I'm not sure he will go on loan Vincent (although we do tend to like to do that). If he needs retraining in defending I would imagine the club would like to spend sometime with the lad before he goes out on loan.

Despite the average season we are having, I thought I would share a few positives, which might cheer people up a little.

This season we have seen a change in direction for recruitment, with a new focus on young, talented and relatively unproven players. Which is a huge depart from signing big names. These players will benefit us hugely for the next 10 years and if they do fall down the pecking order, we will at least recoup some money

Another positive is how quickly oscar has developed. I personally thought he would be a fringe player at best this season but aside from mata he has been our most consistent player.

Courtois, de bruyne, lukaku and kalas have had good loan spells, which is also unusual for us!

The future is definitely bright for chelsea and as long as we qualify for champs league I think despite all the cup exits, we can look back on a good transitional season.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Chalobah? Don't forget him he's been bloody brilliant

Agree7 Disagree4

Needs to prove himself in the premier lge but looks very promising.

Oscar is my favourite Chelsea player at the moment! He is pure class and will only get better!

With regards to the Cavani vs Falcao argument - who you'd rather the club sign etc.

I personally think both would score goals in the Premier League although, if we stick to the current formation or a 4-3-3, I think Falcao would be the better option.

We need a goal scorer plain and simple. Our attacking midfielders all want to play the 'number 10 role' and rarely play as natural wingers bombarding the box with crosses; 90% of our play goes through the middle. When the aforementioned midfielders do get wide and play balls into the box they are usually low balls pulled back or slammed across the front of the goal. Falcao has some of the best movement in the box that certainly I have ever seen and would appear in the spaces such passes are played into on many more occasions than our current strikers. Cavani would too but I just see Falcao linking with our midfielders better than him.

I must point out that I'd happily give either of them a piggy back to Stamford Bridge, from either Madrid or Naples, to play for Chelsea.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Whilst Falcao is good in the air I think Cavani would suit us better as we still punt it up to the striker (not as often as we used to) and I feel he would hold it up better. But saying that if we were to buy Falcao perhaps we'd punt it up even less. Not sure why we keep doing it to Torres when it's obvious that its not in his skill set. In the end though I'd be happy with either. Personally though I think they'll both end up either in Madrid and City.

Agree0 Disagree2

Re. the punting it up.

I do think there are players that are still used to how we played with Drogba! If we came user pressure a punt up to him would result in us retaining possession 90% of the time; you can pretty much reverse that with Torres! I don't blame him, as you say, it's just not a good feature of his game!

I still think that when under pressure, be it defensively or needing a goal, we revert back to the punt it mentality and this season that has cost us possession, goals and points!

Agree1 Disagree0

Should of kept sturridge and sold Torres

Agree2 Disagree2

There goes another plastic fan being result driven again. DS has had a good start to his loserpool career, good luck to him, but he needed to go because he just wasn't a good fit here. Give it a full season or 2 and then judge it. BTW I am not at all defending Torres, who needs to go also, just the club.

Great news that Courtois has rubbished the rumours of a swap involving himself plus cash for Falcao. He did an interview with Reuters and boy does this bloke have his head screwed on properly. He said he expects another loan next season, as when he signed for us the club set out a five year plan for him. He goes on to say that he has spoken to the club recently and was told selling him is the last thing the club wants and that he has developed a lot quicker than he, or Chelsea invisaged he would. He finished by saying he expects Chelsea to continue with Petr for another 2 years.

All signs point to an unbelievable talent, who although hasn't featured for the club, does see himself playing for Chelsea and understands the position the club are currently in, in the goalkeeping department. He seems more than willing to continue his development elsewhere until he is called upon. This, to me, is unbelievably good news.
