I'd start falcao against WBA, Costa really hasn't looked anything like last season in pre season or in the first 2 games. There's only so much a player can do when being played 10 mins at then end of games so I'd either start falcao or maybe both

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Name one player who does except Matic. They will all look much better in few weeks.

20 Aug 2015 06:23:08
Would rather Remy tbh.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Aug 2015 09:59:33
What have you lot been smoking! Costa was one of the few (very few) bright sparks against City. What have Falcao or Remy done to be even considered?

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Aug 2015 10:28:46
Being asthmatic I tend not to smoke.
My point really is that to get the most out of Falcao, a potentially world class striker, he is going to have to start games rather than be given 10 mins at the end. If we had merely signed him as a substitute we should have saved our money and kept Bamford or even solanke. Falcao needs to start against WBA and be given the chance to provide a solid alternative to costa when he isn't performing, after all even last season Costa sometimes went missing and he's incredibly injury prone

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Aug 2015 10:41:07
I thought he was only a bright spark because you noticed him putting himself about and looked as if he was trying. Remy is far too languid for me and see him as no more than a bit player or transfer bait. With Falcao you cannot expect anything in cameo roles; put him on at the start and see what he can do. He has past history with Costa which could work and in his short appearances he gets the ball with his back to the goal when he wants it over the top or through the middle.

Chelsea backed in to 7/2 clear favourites to sign Paul Pogba. Any news ED018?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - no I'd have to ask which I won't be able to today but I have noticed the rumour is doing it's rounds today so maybe something could be happening}

19 Aug 2015 20:02:58
If muller became available would Chelsea be interested?
Thanks ed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I'm sure they would if he was made avalible but I can't see him leaving Bayern}

19 Aug 2015 20:58:33
Another goal for Pasalic today, looking like he could be absolutely class as a goal scoring deep lying midfielder or even box to box!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2015 20:42:35
Would Romeu have been better than mikel? Mikel has said that Jose doesn't want him to leave, which I find difficult to believe. As previous posters have said Oscar next to matic may be better, but we do need another midfielder. Will it be witsel?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2015 10:05:42
As I have posted before, the problem with Mikel is that he refuses to move. It is a difficult one - Mikel is an ok-ish player who is happy to be a squad player and won't be knocking Jose's door down demanding to be in the team. On the other hand, he stops a younger player progressing into the squad. I think Chels will let his contract run down.

We need a centre back and have been linked with this guy before. We bid 30 mill for stones and could have saved millions . Doesn't make sense

RUDIGER AGREES ROMA LOAN DEAL

Roma have announced the signing of Germany international Antonio Rudiger on a season-long loan from Stuttgart.

The 22-year-old defender, who has made 66 league appearances for Stuttgart since making his first team debut in January 2012, joins the Serie A side on a 4m deal (£2.8m).

A statement from Roma read: "AS Roma are pleased to announce that German defender Antonio Rudiger has joined on a season-long loan from Stuttgart for a fee of four million euros.

"The agreement also includes the option to make the transfer permanent from the 2016/17 season for a fee of €9m (£6.3m)."

Believable0 Unbelievable3

19 Aug 2015 20:25:42
Rudiger is the same kind of defender as Zouma, and arguably not as good.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Aug 2015 20:34:42
I don't think a deal like that would've been done if it was with Chelsea. They'd probably have asked for a higher amount and it wouldn't have been a loan-to-buy deal.
Rudiger is a good talent and would've probably been cheaper than Stones, but there are still better players out there. Even in Germany. Niklas Süle is an absolute behemoth of a player and is very talented. That's just one example.
We'll get our guy. And though I don't rate Stones all that highly, I believe we'll get him.

Agree1 Disagree2

19 Aug 2015 23:06:47
Jackson if you haven't noticed home grown players are highly overrated due to serious lack of good ones.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Aug 2015 10:07:35
I've never understood this Rudiger rumour - whenever I've seen him play he looks average at best and seems like a mistake waiting to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 20:04:44
Hey Ed, with Pedro signing could that spell the end of Remey? I think we should offer him to Everton as part of the stones deal. Would likely make RM think about it

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed018's Note - I don't know}

19 Aug 2015 18:53:10
Hi eds I was wondering with pedro and (fingers crossed) stones arriving. Do you see us potentially trying to sign another attacking player or will we be done purchasing.
Thanks in advance and great work on the page.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - yes they would still like to add Griezmann but it might not be possible}

19 Aug 2015 21:39:28
I would let oscar go if griezman would come, move hazard centrally and let pedro/griezmann on the flanks

19 Aug 2015 10:38:57
Please come back to us ed002, I can't cope with all the obviously false rumours going round, I think most regular posters would appologise for the brainless minority on this page

Believable2 Unbelievable5

19 Aug 2015 18:55:55
It's quite apparent the brainless minority are still floating around Ollie mate as they are disliking your post which is unbelievable! We all know the info the eds give us is the reason we come on here & by them still being here is preventing the regulars getting that info so unless a system where trolls can be blocked or prohibited from this site are put in place then we are going to suffer, hats off to the other eds that have been taking time to give us what they can

19 Aug 2015 20:25:17
Yer big thanks to ed018 who is doing a top job under difficult circumstances, it's just hard to find concrete transfer news with even ssn this year just posting all the newspaper stuff and saying it's true and gulliame ballugie who only says what's going to happen like 1 minute before it does and looks like a pro for it

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 17:56:21
There are so many ridiculous stuff published by press all over the world. It's amazing what would so called journalists write to get people's attention. They are inventing stories day by day. Speculations, lies , half truths etc. One of those stories was planted in last few days ''Roman Abramovich approved spending spree''.Amazing, how ignorant and non informed can be person who wrote it. Chelsea fc has been financially independent for several years and still people who write about football do not know basic informations.
It's sad that nowdays reliable press practically doesn't exist anymore.

Hi ed018, great site mate.

am I right in saying that if a release clause is met it means extra fees have to be paid? This would explain man u willing to pay 500k under the asking price but not meet the release

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - I don't know the specifics but if you search the site you might be able to find a pretty big post from Ed002 explaining all that stuff}

19 Aug 2015 18:09:18
My understanding is that Man U were offering more than Chelsea if you include add-ons but, as soon as Chelsea came in, Pedro was never going to move his family to Manchester rather than London.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 19:52:50
I am not sure is this panic buy or previously planned move. But it certainly means one winger will leave.

Muller won't leave mr know it all

19 Aug 2015 16:25:24
Yeah I feel pretty confident saying we (utd) aren't getting Muller.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 18:14:40
First of all I am certainly not allknowing. TBH Pedro signing is a quite non excepted to me.
About Muller, MU is getting close but it doesn't necessarily means anything. We were close to Reus and he's still BVB player.
IMO we zero chances to sign Pogba theoretically it can still happen.
I am sure that Pedro is not big money signing that Mourinho said we have moral right to make.

Agree5 Disagree2

20 Aug 2015 06:53:53
No chance United will get a Muller - would be like Chelsea selling Hazard or Barcelona selling Messi: stupid money only.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 13:49:08
Hey Ed.

It's looking like Chelsea will Pedro, can you tell us what players are likely to be bought/sold? Are Chelsea likely to buy a central midfielder?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed018's Note - my guess would be Moses and Cuadrado would seem the most likely. Not sure about a cm}

19 Aug 2015 15:08:05
I'd personally keep Moses and loan Traore, Kennedy (if signed) and Cuadrado he's shown the most promise.

Agree4 Disagree4

19 Aug 2015 13:22:09
Hazard and Pedro on the wings will be good to see. Hopefully Azpi behind Pedro will help the understanding and then Rahman behind Hazard.

Mrs Costa u legend! Fingers crossed it goes through .

Believable1 Unbelievable2

19 Aug 2015 11:59:11
Hopefully it is being misreported. This will most definitely turn out to be a signing for a signings sake. He will fizzle out quicker then Cesc and turn into a impact sub. He isn't good enough, and certainly isn't strong enough for the Premier League.

Agree2 Disagree5

19 Aug 2015 12:06:01
Don't usually disagree with you Melbourne, but have to on this one. Top player in my opinion, scores and gets assists. Plus psychologically the deal reflects poorly on United, especially following LVG making comments about Pedro.

Agree5 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 12:11:02
Damn Melbourne CFC, we agree. I thought I was alone thinking exactly the same. Too fragile for the Premiership and seems it is a 'points scoring' signing rather than well thought out. I sincerely hope we are wrong and not another Cuadrado.

Agree1 Disagree4

19 Aug 2015 12:27:39
I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Salah or Cuadrado, or even Willian.

19 Aug 2015 12:33:50
You started the sentence so well CFCFOREVER ;)

I could well be wrong mate, and I agree he will add goals and assists but it won't be every game, and he won't improve the team on the whole. there's a reason he has barely started for Barca for the last few years. Even pre Suarez he wasn't getting starts regularly. I hope I'm wrong on this one too mate, but I'm not convinced I will be. Will still support the bloke though

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Aug 2015 12:52:07
You trying to get me to change my mind, Frensham? ;)

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Aug 2015 13:08:05
Melbourne, the reason pre-Suarez was Neymar. Before Neymar joined, he was averaging 41 appearances a season. Plus his goal record is around 1 in 3 games and I think around 118 assists in about 350 games? I have always rated him very highly to be honest!
Good to see you back to posting regularly though, nice to have some common sense for once! ;)

Agree5 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 14:52:38
Stats are deceptive mate. How many of those appearances were starts? How many goals came late on against tired legs?

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Aug 2015 16:26:41
If he passes to Messi and Messi then dribbles round 11 players and scores does that count as an assist?

Pedro is better than wht we have atm for right wing.
Cuadrado is carrots can't even run let alone play football.
Willian is superb but doesn't score enough. I'd prefer willian in the att centre mid.love willian.
Moses had a great pre season but is never going to hold down a first team.
Toare needs loaning out still young and still has a lot to learn.

Team if we sign pedro.

Courtios
Dave zouma terry rahman
Fab matic
Pedro willian/ oscar hazard
Costa

Don't shoot me down people only my opinion.

RedRosie - great point mate. I'm sure that accounts for a good portion of his assists.

CFCFOREVER - you've just instantly come round to the idea a little more ;)

Wheely - I agree he is better than what we have, or at least more direct, but don't agree on Willian. His passing range isn't great, he rarely scores, all he really offers is a terrific workrate and pace. I don't see a central move being beneficial to him, or the team.

Also mate don't put any attention into if someone shoots down your opinion or not. If they do its just their opinion. Too many on this page seem to be fragile when it comes to open debate. If someone you don't know, says something online you don't agree with, and it hurts your feelings, you really need to learn better coping mechanisms

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 18:38:16
Red Rosie has spoken an awful lot of sense, are you sure you are a United fan?!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 19:18:24
Wheelycfc: That is a useful defensive line up if they can gel quickly and enhances attacking options. Might get shot but given his hint of coming back to form, I would replace Fabregas with Oscar and give a full outing to Falcao. The cameo roles will never give us a clue as to whether he still has it but if he has it would increase firepower. As much as I like Willian for effort he's not scoring and I think slows the play.

Whatever Melbourne thinks there's a lot of frustration and panic on MU page.

Anyone out there that could verify this? My Spanish colleague said that AM had stated yesterday that they would accept no less than Euro 65m for Griezmann. Now by my reckoning 'if' true knocks the release clause into a cocked hat. Never say die Frensham!

Question, do you feel Mourinho will turn it round and for us to kick on? Or do you think we'll only just get top 4?

I really feel we will kick on and still win the league. Though City do look good.

Hoping for stones and Isco!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2015 11:39:49
I think Mourinho knew we were not the finished article last year and got caught up in internal transfer policy hence his comments and actions to send a message to the finance men. If he can get who he wants then I believe only Manchester City stand in our way. Having seen most in some form, they have upped their game but nobody apart from City look particularly impressive and even they still look vulnerable at the back. Win it, maybe but I see no worse than top two. Whatever the papers say Mourinho and Terry have not become ordinary overnight.

I can't help thinking that if we bought a player like Depay he'd get 10 minutes as a sub at the end of one game and then be loaned out for the next 2-3 seasons.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

19 Aug 2015 08:38:04

19 Aug 2015 11:09:14
Fair comment, RR. But it should be noted that he originally started for us under RDM and Benitez and thus had proven him already in the Premier League by the time Mourinho returned. Though I've got no doubt that Mourinho also would've played him from the start.
Plus, Zouma has also gotten some good playing time. If they're good enough, he'll play them. I'm confident of that.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Aug 2015 14:22:38
I'm sure if we paid £30m for a youngster he wouldn't be loaned out. I don't think any of the youngsters we've loaned out were bought for more than £10m maybe £15m at a push.
The majority of the youngsters we buy will never line up in a Chelsea shirt. They're bought so that we can sell them on and make a profit, after developing out on loan for a few years. If one of them turns out to be a world class player or good enough to be a squad player then they'll be integrated into the team.
