Torres has said he is getting bqck to his best and fully expects to be at chelsea next year. If he wants to stay then I assume that we will have to keep him. is this correct? Jack

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am quite sure he will stay!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Torres does get back to his best, and its a big if, then he is as good as or better than falcon or cavani

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not! let's move on from this Torres saga.

Agree0 Disagree0

But if he is getting back to his best then there would be no one better than him. What would be the point of selling him. Tell him he has until jan to prove himself, otherwise then sell him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed02 has said Torres will leave. I expect him to leave, then.

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally would keep Torres until at least January, if we get only one striker in we will be leaving ourselves short up front yet again.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is having Ba, Lukaku and Schurrle makes us short?

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

If we want to fight in all four fronts than strike force of Ba (who has power but has little else and has been very very poor except for his two goals against the Mancs), Lukaku (has little experience at the CL level and in playing for us), Schurrle (not an out and out striker) is woefully short.
If no inform striker comes in keeping Torres for another season will do us no harm.
By inform striker I mean one of
lewandowski, falcao or cavani.

roan

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku is also likely to go on loan.

Forget shurrle. If we don't want or can't get a player like hulk to play wide attacking for us then I'd go for

Oscar luiz
De brune mata hazard
Cavani
De bruynes passing and crossing is second to none and as pointed out on here today plays for a team a lot worse than Bremen and has more goals and assists,. Either get hulk or Get in players we have already paid for

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hulk is hugely overrated, and over priced, there are a lot of players I would take over him!

Agree with you on De Bruyne though, he has had a very good season and has impressed a lot of people, should be given a chance. Hopefully he will be on the tour and will impress the new manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly right. 10 goals 9 assists in 33 appearances for de bruyne. Pretty damn good! Plus he can play either wing central attacker an also centre midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hulk is overrated for the fee he would demand. Simply not worth it.

Agree0 Disagree0

It should be this anyway!, Marin and Moses back ups to hazard and de bruyne. Oscar can back up mata. Who else in the prem can boast an attacking six like that? All at the ages of, 25, 23, 21, 21, 21, 22

I'm not going to either praise or slate Rafa, but I want to share my honest opinion on the season before the last game.

Since Mourinho has left Chelsea we are facing something of a slow winter. Eversince Scolari and his crew came abroad we are witnessing dip in form and lame results when the temperatures go down.

Ancelotti famously called it a "bad moment" and it sticks with us each year. Scolari got sacked in "that moment", so did AVB and RDM.

We start the season brilliantly each year, go down and pick up again in march. Managers come and go, but this already a weird and troubling pattern. Hence it is hard to say whether Hiddink was a genius in restoring our form? Was RDM a master motivator in turning the corner and delivering the biggest trophy? Is Rafa better than we though by achieving targets he was asked to upon hiring?

Only Ancelotti got past the winter blues. Therefor it's hard to tell really how big of a role is of a manager at Chelsea football club. 5 seasons. 6 managers. Same form patterns, same problems. At the same time, some great results in that span.

Therefor I think solving our physical conditioning and preparation for a season is a key in turning us into a true powerhouse. We got great talent, great upcoming players. Every desirable trophy one may think of, winning mentality, high hopes and expectations. Come home Jose.

JG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you know what I have never seen it explained or put like that but it is so very true. Ancelotti should never had been sacked anyway. He is one manager who would actually of made some of our youngsters first teamers a w while ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

I call it yellow ball syndrone.

If you notice when the EPL start using yellow balls performance dips when they return to white ball we improve. Stupid I know but look at the change as soon as the colour of the ball changes

Ins: Varane, Cavani, Schurrle. Varane to fill the gap of Luiz being better in midfield, Schurrle to replace Benayoun and Marin and the top class Cavani to replace Ba/Torres.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Schurrle can be forgotten, we have de bruyne. Can't get rid of two proper strikers and sign one. Mikel should be moved on along with benayoun not Marin. Varane young but why can't we trust challobah, ake, kaalas or omerou? Bring back josh mceachran get his slick passing in to our team from deep and we are sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 18:56:11
I want to say keep Raffa but then the Benayoun substitutions come to my mind and they spoil it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah those are reason enough for me for him to leave.

Comparing de bruyne and schurrle's stats in the league this season.

De bruyne- 21 years old
Played- 33
Goals- 10
Assists- 9
Plays for Bremen who are 14th

Schurrle- 22
Played- 34
Goals- 11
Assists- 7
Leverkusen are 3rd

Take into account that schurrle is a more attacking player, de bruyne's stats are far better, chelsea better not let him go.

Jordan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree about DeBruyne he'll be CFC future.

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't judge De Bruyne on this season at all, yes he's had good stats but he's playing in an absolutely shocking team!

Charlie Adam looked quality at Blackpool now look at him.

Also look how good Sessegnon can look for Sunderland since he's been there but he'd never make it at a top 6 tea,

Let's loan him to Leverkusen or Dortmund and see what he does there

Agree0 Disagree0

You forget to mention the fact that de bruyne is playing along side a lot lesserplayers. Imagine him with mata and hazard, Oscar the deep play maker.

Agree0 Disagree0

How often do you get a player who is brilliant with two feet?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 18:43:49
Trying get de bruyne to go on loan at Leverkusen is ridiculous considering his a lot better than shurrle so either offer little bit more money or keep de bruyne.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 May 2013 18:32:09
Let's keep Benitez. The players love him and that's including the 'Old Guard'. Even Lampard has seen more playing time under Rafa; I doubt he would've broken the goals record under Di Matteo as he was being sparingly used. He's had the guts to rightly relegate Terry to a squad player due to his lack of pace. Luiz preferred to Mikel in midfield which we all love and have reaped the benefit, and prior to Romeu's injury he was also preferred. Most importantly all players have improved under him and we look solid. A few more additions in the summer and we'd be a major force again. It's so emotional to see him walk away. He's a nice guy too and I think he will do a nice job here with the full backing of the owner and fans. I say sign him up! Mourinho is no guarantee of success. Just my honest opinion.
Bas!cs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a manager it makes sense. As for what he said about us fans. He was a rival manager and people really need to grow up. His done great job. Should of won carling cup and world club but he was settling in and getting abuse left right and centre. If Jose doesn't come get rafa

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, problem is there so many anti rafa supporters that would never be convinced, so it would probably never happen. I don't think there are many managers out there who are better. Sure he has his faults, but for getting the best out of players, and getting them to play for him, he is up there with the best. dave

Agree0 Disagree0

This is ridiculous won win in a cup let's be honest means very little, and people want to keep him. No way. can't wait for him to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 22:53:21
People need to grow up really. Yes he said some things about us as rival manager, but who wouldn't? We made his job so difficult for him yet he stayed professional. As for the substitutions, we clearly don't have options on the bench this season and he's managed to rotate the squad amidst injuries. Like I said earlier, a few additions and Rafa could do better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lack of options? Piazon left in the january window and the only player we brought in was a cup-tied Ba. Marin has also been available for the majority of the time under Benitez but has been used sparingly and not had an opportunity to gain any sort of form. With all players fit we'd have the likes of Mikel, Lampard/Ramires, Marin, Moses, Ba/Torres, Terry, Bertrand.
Yes he's done well due to injuries and the lack of support at the beginning but that doesn't mean we should keep him on. With the squad we have we should comfortably be finishing in the top4, not in the penultimate game and Europa league is quite poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2013 08:31:08
Your post is clearly contradictory. Piazon ought to go on loan for his development. We've had a lot of injuries with Moses and Mikel away for AfCoN. How can u win games without game changers on the bench, just Marin, Benayoun?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 18:05:43
Do you club not have a high opinion of de bruyne considering they seem to be pimping him out for transfers rather than utilising his talent

De Bruyne > Schurlle {Ed002's Note - That is not the issue.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is De Bruyne and Courtois turning into a square peg in a round hole situation Ed? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean.}

don't you think that some or maybe just one Southampton fan keeps trolling all the websites looking for all posts regarding Luke Shaw and then replying Luke Shaw is ours.
we get it man. he's yours. but this is a banter page and he's been put in dream squads of all fans. doesn't mean we'll forcefully buy him. jeez calm down. you should be proud of producing a player everybody wants.

taby

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I completely agree! When ether someone posts the name of Luke Shaw there is a knee jerk reaction from Saints fans. It seems they are a bit of a weird bunch

Agree0 Disagree0

No, its not the Saints supporters who are a weird bunch, but you lot who keep yearning after a player that is not for sale. If you started making the same comments re Messi you would equally look persons.

Yes, it is banter, and it is more fun because so many of you metropolitan persons don't have a clue about what goes on in other clubs or what their players have committed to.

Because Shaw had a few problems with Hazard, (but not that many), should all Saints fans drone on about how we are going to buy Hazard?

If your owner actually had a record of allowing young English players such as Shaw a real chance your yearning may almost justify being linked to rumour. And when he is old enough for Chelsea then the fee will be so high you will be ruled out by the Financial Fair Play regs!

Good job MOTD doesn't give Saints more time, you might notice we also have the future England RB as well, and that would really be upsetting for you, especially as he was just down the road from you and moved for a very modest fee! If you bothered to consider why that happened, you will realise why you won't see Shaw at Chelsea.

Only supporters I know who make a reference such as "forcefully buy"! Just shows you really don't know what is possible.
You need to get out of London a bit more.

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL! going to print screen this and post it around when he signs next summer, cannot wait. chin up mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actual LOL. You think every transfer that ever happened because the club wanted to sell them? Clubs sell players because the players want to leave or because they're offered a good deal.
I fail to see your point with the Hazard reference. Never mind the fact that you wouldn't be able to afford him, whereas we're more than capable of buying a dozen Shaws.
FFP won't be a problem for us, as Ed has said. Not to mention the fact that it's largely expected to be the biggest spending summer ever, not just for us.
FFP have no way of enforcing their rules and any sort of exclusion from UEFA competitions will just lead to a break away pan European league as mentioned before.
Finally I fail to see why you have so much hate for Londoners? It's one of the best cities in the world. Something that can't be said about Southampton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ill say it again - Saints fans are a weird bunch.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least Saints fans know about football. "Players want to leave"-totally wrong, check the facts-they do exist if you want to find out something about the subject you drone on about. And even Ed. has tried to educate you, but it seems, unsuccessfully.
"Couldn't afford Hazard" totally wrong, check your facts again.

Don't get me wrong, I have a soft spot for Chelsea. They are an easy 4 points a season to us, rising to 6! (But what credit do Saints get for that from the London media-almost zilch!)

I recognise you don't know a lot about the wider football world, but you can simply click on to the Saints website and see the Club Statement posted this weekend. Basically, this confirms the owner will back the next stage of the clubs development, which includes pushing for European football. Maybe very hopeful I agree, but they have achieved all their targets so far, and this one will not feature selling any of the young players that have been brought together to go for it. And who would be the club that could then be pushed out of CL?

So, Shaw to Chelsea? You are misinformed. Just like the "person" on another of your posts who has Rooney signing and down as a sub, with Shaw signing but not even down as a sub (and for £10m-the London £ must be more valuable than the provincial one?)

A weird bunch? Well, we don't expect transfers of players to happen just because it is what the buying club might want, but is against the interest of the selling club and the player and neither wants it to happen. We do know the difference between a sound rumour and fantasy, extrapolated from a lad who said what club he supported! Messi would be all over Europe if your strange (but not "weird"?) logic applied. Neither are we that "weird" that we would start second guessing who a new manager might want to bring in before we even know who the manager is-now that really is weird! (Especially as one of the candidates is "rumoured" to want more control of that than he had before!)

Southampton fans weird? Maybe, but a good place to keep your yachts, YAH?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmmm very strange.

Agree0 Disagree0

The New Forest is not a good place for 'em to keep their Chelsea tractors though.
SaintGazza

Agree0 Disagree0

'At least Saints fans know about football'. And your proof is where? Throughout the entirety of your post you drone on and on and tell us to 'check your facts'. But you should come here with your own facts, especially when you come here and call all of us id**ts. Not simply demand us to find some to back up your own silly statements.
Money is more valuable in London. The price of everything in London is pretty much 150% higher if not more so. £10m in Soton can buy you a lot more than £10m in London. Just saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

I did pay you the compliment of being literate and having some knowledge of football outside of Chelsea, I did even point you in the right direction! You could even ask your Latvian nanny to show you how to use the search engine (no that is not the little red toy you received for Christmas after you had droned on about how much money you had and therefore must have it. )
Money is more valuable in London? Why? Because prices are higher? I think you have your terminology a little mixed up! That would make money LESS valuable (maybe you are a banker!)
Must admit I prefer the Shaw debate with the Liverpool supporters, who also think they will sign him. They have a much better knowledge of football and a good sense of humour.

By the way, how is Lukaku doing? You know, the young lad who is not good enough to play for Chelsea whilst Torres/Ba are!?

And my statements are "silly". Well, ask yourself whether Messi would have been playing at Chelsea if he joined you as a young lad. No, he would not. He would still be out on loan, getting experience!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's right KDB, if he is not in our team let alone squad next season there is something far wrong.

Hopefully the new manager that comes in doesn't make too many changes. Azpiclueta has really impressed me this year so hopefully he is now our first choice RB. David luiz looks so much better as a midfield player than in defence, so I hope he retains that position. If we don't bring in another centre back then I see cahill and ivanovic as next years first choice as they have that bit of pace which terry has not. Kevin de byurne has been a great player for bremen this season and deserves his chance at chelsea especially when we have players like benayoun still here. If torres and ba are to leave then I would like to see a top striker come in with lukaku not being loaned out. My transfer wish:
Cavani, lewandowski or falcao.
Hulk
A pacey solid centre back
Luke shaw
Aubameyang.

MANAGER:MOURINHO
CECH
AZP CAHILL IVAN COLE
OSCAR LUIZ
HULK MATA HAZARD
CAVANI

NWBLUE

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Luiz has improved immensely as a CB in the PL. He looks good as a DM because we don't have any that can pass and move the ball well. Get a decent DM and put Luiz back in defense.

Having such versatile players on the field will help us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well NWBLUE if you considered matters you would know your post gives its own reasons why it is nonsense!

Luke Shaw? But Cole as LB!

Get real, Shaw is much better than a bench warmer so he would not be interested, and has already said so. Saints would not be interested, and have already said so. Why would they even think of selling to Chelsea now you still have Cole available? Once Cole is in decline then you would have to pay even more for Shaw, and Saints have one of the most astute businessmen in charge so they are quite aware of it.

They have already been given the financial green light to pursue a desire to become a significant club in Europe, so you think they would contemplate selling ANY of the young talent they have developed/signed? They will be a buying club this summer, not a selling one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Defensively luke shows statistics this season aren't al that great. He's averae in the prem, but he is young. Patrick van aanholt has had a brilliant season on loan. Maybe we should start thinking about using these youngsters. BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree0

Still its Chelsea, and if they want him i'm sure they will get him, also the fact he is a chelsea fan must bare some effect on the matter as he may push for the move himself, I don't see it this summer, but next summer I don't see why not, with ashley coles contract up and luke could provide a long term english replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Terry never had pace, he's still the best defender in the premier league by a mile.

im amazed to see some of the criticism towards jose on this page after last nights result, can I just remind everyone about the score when Chels played A. Madrid. get a grip! it says something about the manager that he is slated because for the first season for a long time he hasn't won a trophy!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If he had a season like that at Chelsea, he'd also be odds on to leave. Just saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 17:14:44
Madrid have a better squad than us u person and we played Athleti with a new team. Remember what happened to Mou in his first game at Camp Nou as R. Madrid boss? 5-0!

Agree0 Disagree0

Real Madrid have a team of individuals that all think they are a lot better than what they are, yes they are very very good but they are also very arrogant in most cases to arrogant. At chelsea he could build a team, where people play for each other. He would have the fans backing unlike at madrid, and the media love him here, unlike in madrid where they all look to out him. You cannot base a managers career on one season, look at fergie he had trophyless seasons. Ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think Roman will be willing to give JM more than a year. If we had a season like RM had this year I don't think JM would be fired. 2nd in the league, league cup/FA final and semifinal in Europe would be considered a success. The fact of the matter is that there aren't a lot of options out there anymore, which was why we stuck with RDM last summer.

Hi all that is Chelsea
Does anyone think that giving frank lampard a 1 year contract is going to stop the development of Oscar abit because I think that will be his new position when frankie goes.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it will help him to learn from the best!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oscar is so young. He could
Learn a lot from frank while his there

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want Oscar learning how to be a defensive midfielder from an attacking midfielder.

If we go back to 4-3-3, Oscar must follow Lampard around like a shadow.

But let's see what happens.

I don't think it will effect Oscar but it will have a big effect on McEachran.

Apparently Jose Mourinho has drawed up a 3 man wish list
Rooney=30m
Ronaldo=70m
Cavani=50m
If we get these players we would be an unstoppable force and could take us back to premier league glory

--------------Cech------------
Ivanovic/Ramos/Cahill/Cole
--------------Luiz-------------
----Hazard/mata/ronaldo----
--------Cavani/Rooney-------

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just can't stop laughing at the team sheet. let's just ignore wages, and money, and the fact that there's no way we would sign Cavani AND another big name striker.

I'm just laughing at us getting Ramos for free.
Is he just part of the deal for Mourinho?
Or does Ronaldo pay for him to come when we sign him?

Ludicrous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo and mourinho have fallen out at Madrid so it's lazy journalism saying Ronaldo coming to Chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2013 15:18:54
thats 120 mil. why don't you buy PL and CL. both together will cost somewhere near that amount.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't want Rooney. Ronaldo only has 2 years left on his contract so probably wouldn't go for as much as 70m. Having said all that, we certainly wouldn't buy all 3 regardless.

Am I the only one now starting to doubt it joses return is a good idea? Dontget me wrong I love the bloke and the whole club does but on his standards had a very poor season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is the best manager in the world. Just look at his honours list. One poor season (in which he reached UCL semi final, and lost the Copa del Rey in bizarre circumstances, whilst dealing with in-fighting amongst the club) does not change that. There is no one I would rather see on our touch line leading our boys than José. If he comes, Chelsea win the league next season.

Im a Celtic fan and I am wondering if the fans have actually taken into account that rafa won the Europa league and took you higher in the league than you were last year resulting in champions league qualification. Maybe time for a bit of respect for him.

Maybe some sort of tribute rather than thinking you have devine right to win stuff. Its given me the biew that cheslea are almost as bad as the old Rangers club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or maybe we should just accept that he's done an ok job. got us europa league success but we failed horribly in the league cup and club world cup, and to only just qualify for the champs league after spending so much in the summer isn't good enough. he's done ok, most fans have accepted that he's done ok

NO. He got us in the chamions league place, which is the bare minimum for a chelsea manager.
Euro League Final Win, looking distinctly average along the way against teams like Sparta Prague, Steau, Rubin and even for most of the game especially the first half in the final.
We lost to swansea in a two legged semi final.
Went all the way to japan to lose.
I would like to thank the players for there efforts in getting us there and say goodbye to rafa, this trophy has covered up his poor tenure at the club.
So glad this season is over, its been horrible to watch at times.
Just to think we were 4 points off united when he took over.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the post above. If we hadn't won the Europa league, he wouldn't have been called a success at all. And tbh the Europa league is poor. The trophy simply covers up the poor season we've had.
Also we don't think we have the *divine right to win anything but when you're a clubs as big as Chelsea and have the players we do then you're expected to challenge for trophies every season.

i don't know if you guys realised, but we have been unbeaten in the last 9 matches ever since that loss to southampton away where mikel played (winning 7 of them), and guess what? mikel hasn't featured in any of those matches except for that draw against liverpool. the rest of the unbeaten matches, he didn't even play. and look at the results.

it just goes to show how massively ineffective he really is. call me crazy but I really believe that had he not have started most of our premier league matches during the first half of the season, we would have been atleast aiming for the title right to the last game. yes, I honestly believe mikel is atleast 50% to blame for some of our failures of this season! we been performing great in matches because we have been playing with 11 men. the inclusion of mikel means we're playing with 10 basically. that's how useless he really is.

i don't care if you think i'm being too harsh on him but that's just my opinion brothers!

Whatever the club does in the transfer market, they should ensure the best possible further developement for Courtois, DeBruyne, Lukaku and Chalobah. I'm pretty certain that these are the future of the club. Kudos to the staff at Chelsea who have gotten them all at the club. Fantastic feeling having such a quality young men at the club. I know it's a cliche, but the future really seems bright.
