A few thoughts on what might/ I'd like to see happen this window.
CB) We have decent cover for the starting spots in Christensen and Ake, not to mention Tomori and Clarke-Salter coming through as U19 world champs. If we signal CB this summer they have to be better than our current three starters. I'd personally stick with what we have for now, give Christensen and Ake as much opportunity as possible.
WB) We seem intent on replacing, or getting more competition for, Alonso when, in my opinion, he had a much better season than Moses. It seemed to be fashionable for a pundit to praise Moses last season when, other than work hard, he didn't really do much; his end product is woeful. I'd love to see Dani Alves come in on a free and I do expect Sandro will eventually sign for us this summer. Aina should look at his options and think about what he wants from his career.
CM) I like Veratti, great little player. But I'd rather keep Cesc and see Baker develop as his understudy. Bakayoko will sign, I believe this Nike deal signings announcement thing and expect the Bakayoko deal has already 90% complete. Bakayoko to replace Matic and Chalobah to compete with him to play next to Kante. RLC needs a loan, a decent loan, but I really hope we don't sell him. The aforementioned Baker will probably be loaned out - we prob need another player, it's an area we're short.
FW) Lukaku will replace Costa. Much like the Bakayoko deal I expect this is 90% there and the two will be announced together. I hope Batshuayi stays as Lukaku's deputy, there's much more opportunities for game time next season and he has proved he can score goals. I think Hazard, Pedro and William will continue as our main wide forwards but expect one more to come in. Either a signing (would have loved Bernadeschi) such as Berardi or, and there's been talk of this, Musonda getting a chance rather than going on loan.
