I’m not one to slate individual players especially not this crop of players as are all young and playing their first proper season in the premier league but I really don’t think Mount is a great as we like to think. I really think he’d end up being a fringe player if he does stay, he doesn’t offer enough as a number 10 bar the odd goal. I feel like Lamps has been a bit too lenient with him. He has been average or below average in a number of games but always gets the nod however, if Pulisic has one average game he is subbed off 60 minutes in and probably doesn’t get the nod in the next game. It’s not me just slaying him because of this one game, we have a lot to learn as a team and I was expecting this sort of form, most of us were.

Arsenal next at the bridge. And then Leicester and Tottenham follow. Let’s see how things pan out in the next couple of weeks .

IMO ELI your main point is well made and valid.

Mount was at his best for us when Pulisic couldn’t get in the team and Mount was playing out wide. As much as he is a midfielder I think while Pulisic is injured it might be worth putting mount back out wide. CHO did pretty well but Willian was poor so Mount out wide with CHO is worth a try.

I think there's this expectation that Mount should be the finished article, as you say he's one of a number of young players playing their first Premier League season.

Do we really know what type of player he'll be in three to five years time? Did we know what type of players De Bruyne or Salah would turn out to be?

I do agree that he could/ maybe should have been taken out of the spotlight. But Loftus-Cheek's been injured and Barkley's been messing around in cabs on nights off (and also injured) . Our situation has forced Lampard's hand in trusting him, and sticking with him.

Thank god someone else has pointed it out mount is a very good youngster but Frank seems to rely on him to much imo.

I actually have to disagree to a certain extent. he started the season really well. and for his age and lack of prem experience he had done really well. this is his first in the premiership don't forget, he is primed to be a top drawer player imo. there are certain areas he has to improve on, which he will with more games. I really don't think he deserves any criticism from us fans for how he has performed this season. not that I'm saying you are criticising him eli.

I'm with you too. I don't see what he brings to the team to warrant being an automatic starter. What do you think of him Ed01? Is it a matter of him been lucky at the right time with the team or we are being unrealistic with him?

{Ed001's Note - I think you are just expecting too much. He is young and so inconsistent. He will go through periods like this when he struggles. Added to that, the rest of the team is not playing well, so it is only to be expected that his dip coincides with that.}

couldn't agree more Ed001. I would expect all of our younger players to go through similar dips in form. it's part and parcel with blooding in the youngsters. that's why we need to add experience. especially in the striking position.

I think mount plays 10 times better with Pulisic and Kovacic on the pitch.
