Watched the game last night for obvious reasons, sancho was just superb. End product, his form I can see too many team coming in for him and Chelsea being priced out, Werner is deadly and a goalscorer and versatile, teams do sit deep v us which wouldn't suit him but Liverpool have mane and salah and they always seem to have space to run into, and Brandt I didn't realise was so good, de Bruyne esq, but haven't seen him much so could be a good night for him,

{Ed001's Note - Brandt is good mate, that is why Klopp wanted him so bad, Salah was a back up option to Brandt.}

I always prefer players from bundesliga rather than series A and la Liga, think it’s league closest to premier league, easier to judge players, players from France do well, but at the moment bundesliga have some real talent, Brandt or havertz, Leon Bailey linked, opinions on him. Read his career has stood still recently a lot to do with his attitude and his agent / step dad.

Bailey isn’t all that and lacks end product. Think he’s still living off a good start in the bundesliga. He recently scored two good goals vs Bayern but he’s been poor apart from that. Brandt is very similar to De Bruyne but his long range shooting isn’t as good as his. Still got a great shot on him none the less. Brandt was converted from a winger to CM or a ten and he’s much better in the centre with his ability to score and create but he also has a good work rate. I’d love to have Brandt or Havertz here.

I read on skysport that Chelsea may consider including Giroud for Zaha with some cash, which I find interesting. Just want to know what you call think while we wait for the Ed002's update when convenient.

Again we also need a midfield 'General' to bring balance that I feel we lack. Better with the ball and worst off it. Of all Jorginho's qualities he lacks pace required for defensive duties.

Just like Fabregas with us, other players around have to cover to make up his deficiency. A weak link that should be binding the attack and the defence. Who do you think can do it?

We need a Kevin de Bruyne -- unbelievable that we once had him and let him go even though we know there was much competition in attacking midfield at that stage.

{Ed002's Note - It is far from "unbelievable".}

I don't think Giroud will go to Palace. He can still do a good job for a club like Inter - as far as I know this all came about from an interview John Solako did on a radio show.

Two, or all three, of Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho shouldn't be on the same pitch togethe in games where teams sit back, are organised and challenge us to break them down.

I think Jorginho is a good player. But, when we are not in possession, the pace of a Premier League game can pass him by.

Out of the three Kovacic has been our best player this season - and is the most combative. Personally I'd sit him deep in games against the likes of West Ham, Everton and Bournemouth with two more creative midfielders ahead of him.

Kante is obviously a great player. I'm just not sure he fits into what we're trying to do at the moment though. He's apparently looking at his options (Real Madrid and Juventus) and it wouldn't surprise me at all of he leaves in the summer.

Loftus-Cheek is obviously who we miss but we do need another midfielder to rotate with him in the LCM position and I do have a soft spot for Julian Brandt.

I would doubt it as he’s just moved to Dortmund. But if RLC doesn’t come back the same he’s definitely the player I’d move for. He’s 6 ft 1 as well so be nice to add an extra physical presence in midfield.

Ed, we sold our best attacking midfielder at the time and now look at him. If you don’t think that’s unbelievable that’s on you. Everyone else does.

{Ed002's Note - You clearly don’t understand the circumstances.}

Makes sense Ed2, with every sale there is bound to be reasons. Also hindsight is a very important word, with hindsight every club will never make mistakes.

I'd like to add that KDB has made made massive improvements since he left Cheldea. So whether it all would have happened at Chelsea whilst being young is up in the air.

de bruyne was not our best attacking mifielder at the time come off it he was young an raw an had no desire to stay an fight for his place he wanted out for gaurenteed regular game time both parties didn't stand in each others way it is what it is it happens no point constantly going on about him an lukaku an salah at the time we had them they were clearly not ready or good enough at d time they all progressed with regular game time elsewhere helping them become the player they did.

I got to thinking about our midfield and I truly think we need to go back to a 433 and ditch the 4231. When we play in a 4231 we become extremely disconnected between the double pivot and the attacking band which has all sorts of ramifications. For me I like kovacic at the base as he does a tremendous job of single handedly breaking the press either through dribbling past the opposition or his ability to play any pass. Kante should be given license to run and will naturally complement kovacic in providing cover if he steps forward while also pressing the opposition in an attempt to recover the ball high up the pitch. I would partner these two with mount as he provides the best goal threat of our available midfielders and does a tremendous job of triggering our press and is likely the best goal threat we have in our midfield, even though he certainly has holes in his game at least he moment. I think RLC is more suited to this role than mount when they're both at their best but we can't count on rueben at the moment. While Jorginho does a good job of controlling our attacking tempo and plays a number of threatening passes from deep, he doesn't provide a goal threat and needs support defensively.

We are pretty much being linked with everyone

Werner
Sancho
Zaha
Bailey
Chukwueze
Berge
Ake
Chilwell
Dembele (Lyon)
Dembele (Barcelona)
Josh Maja
Ben White
Boga

I know we have just had our ban lifted but a few journalists are having a right melee here.

I wonder who we are linked with tomorrow morning?

Maybe tomorrow we will be linked with one of Ziyech, Neres and Promes. Maybe we could then be linked with a few Italian players like Zaniolo, Bernardeschi. Maybe we then move onto the classics - Icardi, Hulk etc.

Silly rumours.

Best thing is to focus on Spurs, Southampton and Arsenal for now. Must win games.
