The weakest part of our team by a country mile is the left centre side, when we have the ball and Cahill and matic are in the same line of the pitch, it's an eyesore to watch Cahill comes out of defence and stops looks back then looks side ways then passes back to the keeper every time, he has matic playing directly in front and between them pair it's so boring, robotic, in imaginative, slow, it's really terrible to watch them 2, remember a few weeks ago when we played Utd in the cup and mourinho tactic was to let Garry Cahill have the ball, let him bring it out of defence because he will mess up himself, I thought that said a Lot, these 2 positions need replacing for next year, we need left footer playing left cb, or a ball playing cb who can defend as well, van dijk springs to mind, then to replace matic we need a more mobile, better passer than matic, it seems he has a terrible touch with no vision, he's long gangly and awkward, replacing these 2 would give us a different dynamic to starting attacks, and keeping hold of the ball better when we are under the kosh, the way we play with 3 at the back it isn't David Luiz job to bring the ball out of defence, the idea is he's always centeral, always there and 1 of the other cb left or right bring the ball out, if we did improve on these we would see a huge difference in our play.

nice post. would Christensen play LCB?

I think he would be a better option possesion wise than Cahill.

Christensen or Van Dijk would be options I'd personally be happy to let Zouma go. I don't think he'll ever be good enough on the ball so I'd sell and bring in one of the players Conte wants.

Bonucci would be a dream, no offence to Cahill but he's better off in a weak team so he can head the ball away all day and through his body to block shots, at a top team you have to be a good football player, it's like keepers in the bottom half of the league save the most shots per season, because they are bombarded, it doesn't mean they are the best keepers, I don't agree that only 1 defender needs to be good on the ball either, I think at least 2 if not all 3, I think in the Spurs game we lost can't quite remember but I think azpilacueta and Cahill kept panicking and smashing it long, and it kept coming straight back, we probly average 60% possesion. Over a season so we have the ball more than we don't, and some of our defenders make between 70-80 passes a game it's a huge part of the game, back in Europe next year and all, so will be even harder, yeah I think we need big improvement in this.

Ed001, I hope you're around as I'm interested in your opinion on something. It's about the Chelsea striker situation.
It looks likely that Costa will leave in the summer as he isn't happy in London apparently, and his play has been plain bad for weeks now. Rumours of Lukaku, Morata and Belotti keep coming up (but I'll discount Belotti as a possibility as Ed002 has said that it's very unlikely that he would end up at Chelsea) . Now, I was wondering who you'd think would make the best Costa replacement. Lukaku or Morata?

I'd love to read your opinion on this, Ed001. Hope life is treating you well these days :-)

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - tough choice, neither are ideal for your system, imo. I think I would have to say Lukaku because at least he would score goals. Morata might struggle to settle in England. Personally I would think the scouts need sacking if you do go for those two.
Good here thanks mate enjoying the sunshine. You?}

Glad to hear that, Ed! I'm currently working on my graduation project so it's a bit busy these days. But all good. Sunny here as well, so can't complain!

What striker do you think would fit our team best then, Ed? Doesn't matter whether we're interested or whether he's even available. Who'd you see doing well in our team?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - graduation project?

Good question. I would say either Lewandowski or Dybala would be the best out there. I doubt either is within reach though.}

Well yeah, my master's thesis :) the Final project before I graduate. I'm in my final year of university.

Haha yup, both Lewa and Dybala are unrealistic to say the least. Thanks for the input, Ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry I have no idea about that kind of thing, I never went to uni properly. Did some college courses on sports science and stuff like that, but mostly just online stuff. I barely went to school to be honest!}

No worries, mate! It boils down to us writing a research paper on a particular subject. And then we also have to present it in front of a jury of 3 people I think.
That presentation is going to kill me. I hate talking in front of an audience like that. The stress is going to give me a heart attack :-P.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is hard, public talking. I hate it too. TV work is a nightmare too, having a camera pointed at you makes you really nervous.}

Nice insights Ed001. I also think just either one of them will not be good enough. But do you think having both of them in a 3-5-2, similar to the Llorente-Tavez at Juve, could work well?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - possibly. That would be dangerous to the opponent, Lukaku could do the Vardy role, he has the pace and power to do it better than Vardy. Morata could play off them. The problem is the lack of workrate and the fact that you do not play from deep enough to draw out the opposing defence most weeks. You dominate the play usually. You need a striker who can keep hold of the ball, rather than have it bounce off him like Lukaku does. Mueller of Bayern might be better for you, as he could also play other roles in the side as well.}

I know very little about this Bellotti chap. Would he fit?

It's weird, I actually do kind of enjoy being on camera. I don't know about TV camera type of thing, but when my brother films for some YouTube stuff or whatever I don't feel any kind of stress. Maybe it bothers me less if I don't see the people that are watching me.
Long story short, I hope I survive the presentation hahaha!

Agree Ed001. But Mueller looks quite unattainable and there has been no signs of Conte's interest in the player. Do you think Chelsea can pull off a move for Mueller?

My understanding is that Conte wants to use the work rate of Morata and box to box engine like Radja/ Bakayako in the 3-5-2.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Mueller has been having a few issues and is not playing well. Last I heard he wanted a move away, though not sure where, just was looking for a change I think. So it could be possible.

One thing with Conte is that he would get more out of Morata than most, so perhaps he could get him to be more effective? Certainly he would need a bit of work to truly fit your play.}

Wouldn't mind seeing a front three of Sanchez, Muller and Hazard Ed. I know very unlikely but that would worry defences.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Sanchez would be perfect for the way you play as well.}

Ed001, if you don't mind me asking, what club do you personally support?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no problem at all mate, I support Liverpool.}
