Always felt sorry for Dave, seems like he never got a fair shot in the spainish national team.

Not as good as Carvajal in terms of an all round better RB in fairness, great defensively but not going forward.

Apparently we will be signing kovecic permanently, personally don't think his done near enough to warrant signing. No goals and couple assists, wonder what the fee is,

I completely support that we sign him- the guy's versatility in our midfield is awesome. Besides adding goals and assists to his game is something he can work and improve on.

Sorry Miss Darren Wood, I don't understand your comment but my point is that-Besides the fact that he's the available choice (cos of the transfer ban), it would make complete sense (to both Sarri and the Board) ; and help the team a lot- to have a midfielder that can play Kante (RM), Jorginho (DM) and Loftus cheek/ Barkley role (LM) in the team; has good box to box runs which he hasn't been doing at Chelsea yet. I also think he's one guy in the team that can play in two or three man central midfield formation (so I think he will do well whether its Sarri or another manager that's in charge of the squad)

I said he can work and improve on adding goals and assists to his game cos- before now, Kovacic played attacking midfielder (during time at Inter-Milan) . Personally, I haven't seen some attributes of his game which I know before now (so I think he will improve or has room for improvement) . His sitting on the bench before now at Real Madrid also did some damage but I think it can be fixed.

Yes Matt, he's fee shouldn't be high.

40 million for a versatile squad player. Wow squad and fans are really going downhill. Be better off keeping Pasalic after all he is our player.

ed reports that chelsea migh not appeal at all and accept the ban, is there any truth to this? thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that they have yet to make the appeal to CAS and I have no interest in giving any blow-by-blow accounts about what is happening.}

CAS could freeze the ban themselves without Chelsea even appealing to them.

I would prefer to let Sarri continue the work that he's doing at Chelsea than sign Alegri at the moment. Let's give him a chance for two years.

Hi Ed, without getting into specifics on names etc, in the eventuality Hazard leaves for Real Madrid this summer and Chelsea can sign players, do you think they'd look to try and recruit a direct replacement, or continue their policy of buying players on the younger end of the spectrum with as yet unrealised potential (a la Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Salah, Pulisic etc)

Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - the latter.}

Jovic can be crossed off the list, if he was ever on it. I know Dybala doesn’t play as a striker really but I do think he could play a false 9 role for us.

I do believe that Dybala is more than capable to play as a striker. As his position is actually a striker as long as I can remember.

If CAS do end up freezing our ban is it worth panic buying a new striker? Jovic is off to Madrid and he was probably the only one with great potential on the market. I'd rather not panic buy and actually start the season with Batshuayi and Abraham. Then maybe next season or the one after if we're banned we could then go and splash out on a new striker but only if the right one becomes available. Michy isn't the most convincing striker but he will score goals he's a proper poacher. I'd offload Morata this summer if we can get 40 million off Atletico especially now Griezmann's going and they love him there, also Giroud is out of contract anyway so he will be off the wage bill and I'm confident Tammy can have a better impact than him.

We should concentrate on positions where maybe the right player might be available I. e Right wing - Pepe, Sane or Ziyech. Or Chilwell or Telles for LB. I'd rather we wait for a striker if we can't get the right one. You never know Abraham might do a Harry Kane and turn out to be great 😂.
