Just a question really about the dumbheads who come on here each transfer window and abuse the eds.
Are they on the site during the rest of the year or
Do they only appear during the transfer window?

If they were able to say what they really thought then they would be speechless .

There are not more than 20-25 names circulating trough the season. The people you are talking about are either trolls or some kids who could even be Chelsea fans.
That's why Ed 002 gets abuse. Simply some youngsters have a serious lack of home upbringing.

I've been a regular on the site going back nearly 4 or 5 years and during the season there's about 15-25 posters (I've seen we've had greater numbers with greater team success). Then when the transfer window opens that number seems to at least double and probably triple. I can't say this for certain because there's a lot of abuse that we never see however most of the times it occurs (90% of the time) it's coming from a name that had never posted before. really sad too as this kind of thing not only pushes away the eds but also wonderful posters that have been around longer than I like Melbourne.

I had hoped that the introduction of needing to register and log in would of helped solve the problem. I think if someone abuses the eds they should get instantly banned. Obviously this wouldn't stop 1 abusive post getting through per person but think it would be a strong disincentive.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they do get banned immediately for a short term in the hope they learn a lesson. Sadly people don't seem to learn.}

18 Jul 2015 07:16:25
I hadn't realised that but think if people don't seem to learn just ban them indefinitely. Think if their still able to submit a post and the eds can see it, it has had the negative effect even if not published. Just think something needs to change as this is by far the best site for football info and it is being ruined each window by idiots who do not appreciate what the eds do to make it the best!

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2015 08:13:58
Sadly you're right, Ed001. A lot of people don't seem capable of learning. Then again, a lot of people are idiots (harsh perhaps but true).

Couldn't you have a troll page where any abusive messages from any of the sites can be sent, I am sure there are quite a few people who would like to strike up a pleasant conversation with these numb nuts . If they know their messages will be seen by everyone, and get 50 or so equally abusive messages in response, then they might stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2015 11:21:54
Surely t.k it's not surprising the numbers increase so dramatically during a transfer window and isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've read the site reguarly for a couple of years during and outside of the transfer window but tend to post only during the windows as it is a time when rumours tend to fly around. Just because someone only appears to post during the window isn't really relevant, the fact is some people send stupid abusive messages and deserve to be banned (permanently?) but the majority don't and really appreciate the site

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2015 19:17:13
Oh completely agree RVD. The overwhelming majority understand how fantastic of a website this is. It's just the keyboard warriors who are looking to piss someone off or have self esteem issues that like to have a pop at the eds.

Joker of the day! #WhatAlier

Manchester City have announced the signing of Fabian Delph from Aston Villa.

Reminds me of when we signed Sidwell, just a homegrown to make up the numbers! Good player (ish), but will he play much?

Similar to when we signed Scott Parker about a week after he told Charlton fans he would stay

Ed
Do you think chelsea will make an improved offer for stones and how high a fee do you think we will be willing to pay
Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - I have no idea how high they are willing to go but I'd expect another bid at some point}

17 Jul 2015 19:08:22
Thanks ed seems like a very solid player

id say stones over varane . because of the experience he's got playing in the premier league plus home grown . what do u think ed18 and others

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I'd be happy with either.}

17 Jul 2015 22:21:51
I think Varane is streets ahead of Stones right now. If given a choice, I'd go with Varane all day, no need to think twice.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jul 2015 23:38:30
Varane is a league above Stones right now. Varane would displace Cahill, Stones would not.

I was thinking about this transfer whole day, what if we bought stones and sold Cahill? Could put Zouma to partner Terry and learn from him directly with stones being 3rd choice CB, then we still.would have Kalas and other youngsters?

18 Jul 2015 06:29:59
Am I right in thinking that Stones name came up months ago and one of the Ed's said Chelsea could not guarantee him game time? As much as Cahill has his flaws when Terry doesn't play (Terry organises him and all the defence), Stones is for the future not a replacement for anyone at present.

18 Jul 2015 08:14:58
I believe you're right, Frensham. Someone said that Chelsea couldn't guarantee him time on the pitch.

17 Jul 2015 15:46:01
I reckon we should sign stones now then loan him back to Everton for a year to gain more experience then bring him back when JT retires. It would be harsh on Zouma this year if he came. We should also try and include someone like Moses as part of the deal.

Some thoughts on the rest of the summer.

John Stones would be an excellent signing, £20m sounds like a lot to reject but they don't want to sell and, with Sterling going for £49m, they're certainly right to hold out for close to £30m - which is the price they want by all accounts. Personally for a homegrown talent like him, a future mainstay of the England team, I'd see £30m as a good price - Stones and Zouma would be a fine, fine CB partnership for the next decade.

I see the need to find something else for the midfield - this obviously won't be Pogba now. Personally I'd like to see Witsel added to the middle of the park with Matic, Fabregas, Ramires & RLC (i think Mikel will leave); but I'm not holding much hope that those rumours have an ounce of truth behind them. I know zip about Aranguiz and missed all of the Copa America - but hear good things.

I can't believe some people would think Pedro, a multi time club and national champion in his prime, would be a bad signing - especially for £22m (TWENTY TWO MILLION in this crazy market)! I would be ecstatic if we pull that signing off.

Who I'm looking forward to seeing on tour - Kennedy looks a very talented lad, although he's looking a loan in the face I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

Traore has talent, I thought he should have gone on loan to somewhere like Monaco or Marseille but I really hope he proves me wrong. How long till he's linked to Fiorentina to make up for Salah's loss?

RLC, I genuinely believe, has the talent to completely negate any need to have spent £70m+ on Pogba.

Solanke could finish up our pre season top scorer and thrust himself into first team consideration.

I think it speaks volumes about Traore and how highly he's regarded that Mourinho would keep him in the first team squad this season :-)

Well there has just been a bid rejected for stones.
ED had mentioned it was likely we would sign the aranguiz player.
I think of loan players coming back as new signings and in that respect we have Moses, traore and potentially chalobah.
RLC is also as good as a new signing in my eyes as he probably had less minutes than salah for us next year.
we are constantly linked with a RW and I think if it were not for Atleticos busy summer to date and barceonas impending election, then we would have Griezmann or Pedro already.
you have to remember that last season was arguably a transitional season with fab, costa and courtois coming straight into the XI and Matic only returning the past January. This year all these players who have come straight into the team will go through a good pre season and become even more of a Team together.

I originally started this post in reply to CFCAdam who had complained about signings. however I thought it would be good to share it as a post.

in short, give Oscar a rest this summer, put cuadrado through a hell of a tough pre season and integrate our youth and loan signings then we are IMO 2 players from a title and a good run in Europe. a RW and a very Defensive CDM.

Still need a new centre back as well IMO. Terry can't keep going forever and we can't play a high line with him in defense.

yeah i'm with you on that. I think Stones is a good choice but I don't know if he will be ready to step up by the time terry steps down

Nobody will fill Terry's shoes, nobody. Believe me the day we going to lose Terry we going to struggle

Are Chelsea actually going to sign anyone else in this transfer window? We've done ok business so far with Begovic and Falcao but all the player sales seems to have gone quiet. We are usually quick off the mark to sell/buy the players we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - They will try to sign Pedro and had a bid for Stones rejected so they are trying to improve the squad}

17 Jul 2015 12:46:56
So Chelsea did bid for Stones Ed018?
Its hard to know what to believe from ssn these days.

{Ed018's Note - it seems pretty legit. I knew there was interest in him.}

Ed018 do u think we will go back in with another bid for stones?
U reckon there's a good chance of getting him?

{Ed018's Note - I'm gonna ask and hopefully later I'll have some info}

exciting news if we were to get him! His states last year are impressive!

Do we actually need anyone though as a starter? Sure, we need new additions to freshen the squad and add competition for places whereas last season we needed a deep lying playmaker ( Cesc ) and a striker ( Costa ). Our first 11 is going to be very difficult to break in to with the possible exception of an attacking midfielder. Courtois, Branna, JT, Cahill or Zouma, Azpi, Matic, Cesc, Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Costa surely pick themselves?

The more you look at the 'obvious' line up the more you see the problems. The defence was our mainstay last year but in a busy season both Terry and Ivanovic are into their thirties so there will be some in and outs there. However from midfield on whether we like it or not we are short of firepower which we need. Career wise Matic has a very poor goal scoring stats, Fabregas just shy of 1 every 5 games, likewise Oscar, Willian even worse at 1 in 8 which brings you to Hazard, 1 in 3.6 games and Costa 1 in 2.5 games; that is not Championship goal scoring so there is a great deal of room for change.
