Would people still like to see Fabregas start on Saturday? I don't think I would even though he scored a goal and got an assist. We can't carry passengers in big games when we need to defend. I'd play Oscar in the 10 with Rubén and Matic behind. Oh, and definitely with Azpi and Rahman full backs.

Agreed. You can argue about the less experience. But even on a first showing tonight against a poor side, having a lb at lb and rb at rb gave more balance to the side.

Hazard has just lost confidence but he grew into the game. RLC gave an assured performance even after the early yellow card.

A bit more promising. Heading in the right direction

I agree, Dave and baba full backs with RLC and Matic behind Oscar. I'm feeling pretty confident after tonight even though the opposition was appalling

I just hope that Jose took off RLC to save him for Saturday -- he has to be given a run of games. I think it may be a blessing in disguise that we didn't get Pogba because he would have limited RLC's chances and I firmly believe RLC will prove to be just as good. As for Fab or Oscar, I would start Fab but further forward with Matic and RLC as the 2.

completely agree with you. Would like to see the Matic, RLC and Oscar in midfield and Azpi and Baba full backs.

Part of the reason RLC was taken off has to be the fact he was booked 1 minute in and committed a couple of fouls afterwards. Jose probably didn't want him to get sent off although I doubt he would have

This will be difficult to assess as Maccabi are so poor and as so often happens, Fabregas is at his best when we dominate. Nice to see Azi on the right and Loftus-Cheek playing with confidence. I will take any kind of win but I am not sure with the Zouma/Cahill combination.

{Ed018's Note - I'll add in on this post that Rahman played well and he certainly should start to get more time}

Cahill-Zouma has looked our best CB partnership this season. And with Ivanovic replaced by Rahman you can clearly see we can push higher up the field and play better, even if it was only Maccabi.

Majority of the team especially baba and RLC did well. I wasn't that impressed with Costa or Fabregas despite goals. Thought remy did well despite being pushed wide early on

It is very hard to judge. Personally I'd want at least zouma, Rahman and azpi to start on the weekend. Iva definitely needs a break still. Cahill may have more pace but I do worry about the lack of leadership at the back, so Terry could come back in for me. Oscar needs to start too. Think Matic needs to come back in too.

Isn't it refreshing to have a RB playing RB?

Oscar is the difference for me, makes the team tick going forward, always available & always looking to move forward with the ball, hazard will grow in confidence again if he gets on the scoresheet

Oscar and RLC have been brilliant today, just linked play together and helped set up the attacks.

433 works much, much better let's just hope that Mourinho understands that.

I like this team tonight. I just hope Matic comes in for Cesc Saturday and Costa comes in for Remy. What has happened to Hazard though? Terrible penalty.

Can we ban our short corners? Get it in the mixer!

Man this Maccabi are really poor. One sided but still sterile up front.

Hazards penalty was due to a lack of confidence. Didn't back himself with his usual technique so tried to put more power behind it.
