Schedule a game to be played on a poor pitch before a big cup final, what could go wrong... I understand why this game was needed, i just can't for the life of me understand why this needed to be done before our final. Why couldn't it have been rescheduled?. Now we may have to play the final without both Kante and Ruben. Hope it's not as serious as it looked but even if it isn't i wouldn't expect him to be fit for the final.

Or why did sarri need to bring him on? Got youth players that traveled with the squad they could’ve got extra minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:20:17
It's not Sarri mate. If he had it his way then the club doesn't go USA.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:29:33
No of course mate but when you’ve taken youth there for the game he could’ve left him on the bench and played one of them.

16 May 2019 22:38:45
Kovacic or Barkley will now score the winner in the final.

Good luck and let’s hope for a speedy recovery to all the injured players.

16 May 2019 22:47:43
Agree shak Sarri took precaution with him, you could tell how visibly upset he was when he got injured, clearly didn't want to be there. He even said so himself, none of this is on Sarri at all for me. The meaning of the game was great and it was needed, just gutted it wasn't moved as you could see something like this coming from a mile away with our luck. Hope the recovery goes well for him, a lot of our academy boys seem to get big injuries, definitely feels like a curse at this point.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:49:07
I assume he was encouraged from above that all of the first team players (including Ruben) should play. Of course I’m sure Ed will tell me to stop being stupid or something similar and that Sarri has control over who plays and who does not.

kante will be fit.

Seen something saying CHO did sign a 5 year contract now he is getting game time anybody know anything

Cheers guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 20:24:38
He hasn't. You can be damn sure the club would make that news public first thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 21:56:10
I meant to say could but got a new phone and the auto correct on this is ridiculously random, sorry guys, hope he does though.

CHO will sign a 5 year contract. Reported by some reliable sources.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:33:11
That's what I heard we can only hope. Fingers crossed.

If given the choice of Hazard or Lamps in his prime, who would you have in your team, I would have Lamps anytime.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 20:13:27
Lamps easy, so consistent and you wouldn’t get a great all round midfielder like him who scores that many goals again either.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 May 2019 21:01:33
Lamps without s doubt, 20 goals a season 10 assists regularly and never went missing, mr consistent and me chelsea.

16 May 2019 22:22:01
Lampard over anyone barring messi or ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2019 10:52:53
Lampard might not have been as technically gifted but was far, far, far more influential. Lampard all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 18:22:27
Jovic is definitely going to Madrid. Who now? We are so unlucky with RLC and CHO's injuries too.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 20:25:40
Moussa Dembele of Lyon is really good, but I read Ed002 stating that Lyon don't want to sell him.
Not many good strikers on the market right now to be fair. Giroud, Tammy and Bats/ Morata?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2019 10:51:26
I can see us going for Dybala but I don't know if he would be the right option as a false 9, what does everyone else think? he was brilliant till Ronaldo went there.

16 May 2019 17:18:12
EDs, will the injuries to CHO, RLC and Rudiger affect Chelsea's transfer plans in the summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, teams do not work like that unless badly run or the injury is career-ending.}

16 May 2019 18:10:45
Thanks Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

16 May 2019 20:03:01
Wait, unless the team is badly run you say? 🤔
Joking haha.
On another note, do you know what the prognosis is ed? Are the players expected to lose anything physicality wise from such an injury? CHO is so fast and RLC is so strong, could either of those talents be affected do you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say. You only know that when they are in rehab.}

16 May 2019 20:26:23
Achilles injuries usually have a lasting effect on explosiveness. Which is really bad news for both of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:20:12
That’s bad to hear Jackson. Was hoping it was one of those that modern medicine could make good as new.
Hopefully the rehab is good.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2019 10:53:47
I think the medical treatment, and surgery for these types of injuries has progressed massively in the last decade. Hopefully it won't be as impactive for these boys as it used to be for players like John Barnes.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 14:08:44
Nizaar Kinsella has reported that Ruben's injury is to his achilles as well. Of all people, he definitely didn't deserve this to happen.

One of our most important players, and yet another of our most talented players goes down with an injury that could have lasting effects on his play.
Just as in Callum's case it's a damn shame, and I hope he can come back strong. However, with achilles injuries it's likely he'll lose a little strength and explosiveness.

Get well soon, Ruben. Lord knows this club needs you.

The EL final just got almost impossible as well. No Callum, Ruben, Rüdiger or Kante. 4 of our best players : (

Mount should definitely be kept in the squad next season though now. Another top class performance from him and Lampard's boys yesterday. Did you watch the match, Ed? You commented that you hadn't seen much of Mount, but he was really good last night again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 14:25:12
Jackson, I’m told Kante should be fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 14:47:51
Very annoyed at the news of RLC's injury. Terrible pitch, the uneven surface deffinetely contributed in the injury sustained.

Sarri's reaction to the injury said it all and I am with him on this one. As a coach if that doesn't miff you then your not normal. What a time to arrange a friendly. Very poor decision to go to the USA before a final.

Anyway we are banned from signing players and have long term injuries to Rudiger, CHO and RLC. The trio will miss start of next season, the latter two probably will be back by xmas. Next your looks even more bleak now. Mount will have to be at Chelsea next season, may have to call Baka from Milan.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is palpable nonsense - the club has not said anything of the sort and we may as well shut the page down if idiots like you are going to make up BS like this.}

16 May 2019 15:00:39
The club hasn't said anything but the reported injury to RLC is pretty serious which will keep him out for a good few months.

Also I stated my opinion in the last para, I never cited the club at all. Pretty harsh reply Ed2.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is simply BS.}

16 May 2019 15:15:30
Ok Ed2. We will wait for the clubs official comments on the injury. That will clear up whether the reported stuff is BS.

16 May 2019 15:47:20
Let's hope Kinsella is wrong, but it doesn't look good.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 20:04:55
Looks like he was right judging by the club statement. I worry for next season! I’m sure the club have it all figured out but to someone who will hold his hands up and say he has no idea what is going on at the club I worry about us at the start of next year with the growing list of injured players and (I’m just assuming and may be totally wrong here) Hazard out.

16 May 2019 22:04:30

Any updates on injury to RLC? Seems madness to have played this charity game - however good the cause - before UEFA Cup final (and on artificial surface) .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 10:47:00
The Evening Standard are suggesting it could be a ruptured achilles. Really bad news if true.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 11:16:19
Thanks for this Titan. Oh no, if ruptured achilles this is v bad news indeed and probably wold mean RLC out for rest of the calendar year.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 11:32:15
I agree JBS. Worryingly I think he could even be out for longer than that. If it is true, I really feel for him. He was really starting to show how good he is on a regular basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 13:28:56
JBS, the pitch was awful but it wasn’t artificial.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 14:16:59
I'm guessing we still have to wait for the scan first (that is if it's not been done) cos it could also an injury that isn't serious; but I think a ruptured Achilles (that Achilles tendon) is better than a ruptured ACL. I wish Loftus cheek the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 14:44:09
You really DON'T need a scan to tell if there's an Achilles rupture. Any scan would be to define then grade and likelyhood of an operation. A total rupture would be very clear from a simple test.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 20:42:11
As a qualified physio I can tell you that you don’t need to have scans for a suspected ruptured Achilles. I could tell you if it’s ruptured in 30 seconds through testing his ankle. I’ve seen so many reports in papers today about the “suspected injury” that are purely guesswork and half of what they’re saying isn’t accurate for an Achilles injury. A young, fit player like RLC should pretty much make a full recovery if he is rehabbed correctly. He’ll be out the final regardless as an ankle sprain is 4-6 weeks minimum. Can’t see us winning the final to be honest. Roman has messed up big time making the team play this friendly. Could quite easily have been done in pre-season!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 22:35:08
This injury could have happened at any time at any place. It’s no ones fault.

It’s pointless thinking about any players injury other than to wish them a speedy recovery.

We will still stuff Arsenal.

COME on my MIGHTY BLUES.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2019 08:20:31
Chelsea Nick, from your experience how long do you think it will take Loftus cheek and Hudson Odoi to make a full recovery after surgery to their ruptured Achilles tendon? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 09:57:07
Great idea to play s friendly in America before our season is even finished, RLC out with ruptured Achilles apparently, such a poorly run club at times, game was for a good cause but should of waited and Sarri playing strong team when saying how ford they are,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 13:00:54
Ruben isn’t one of the players who should be tired after our busy season.

No blame can’t be attached to Sarri but some fans and maybe posters will blame him because they blame him for everything.

It could have happened at training rather than a match.

The RLC injury isn't good news!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 May 2019 09:22:42
I read he could be out for the year hopefully that's incorrect!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 09:37:46
RLC injury news just ruins the build up to the Europa League Final. Our in form midfielder could be out for a long time.

I am all for charity games as they are all there for good cause. But the timing of this trip to the USA, especially 3 or 4 days after the Leicester game is a joke. The season is not even over yet and he we are playing a charity game in the USA.

I am hoping RLC does not miss pre-season. I would hate to see him out long term as it feels he would have to prove himself again to the club on return.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 09:50:59
He appeared to twist his foot awkwardly on the uneven playing surface. No need to ready any further. had it not been an uneven surface then the injury does not occur. So miffed with the news!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 10:36:42
Ah! This is bad news, I think I might fall sick for this one. One of the major positives for the club this season has been the emergence of Loftus cheek, now he gets such an injury. Really not good times at Chelsea. I wish him speedy recovery.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2019 10:55:44
I just saw a picture of him on crutches that he's wearing (that runs from the foot to just about below his knee) . I'm guessing that the worst case scenario would be an ankle ligament rupture but not ACL rupture cos ACL is located in the knee. I pray it's not ACL (anterior crutiate ligament) cos its like one of the worst injuries any player should suffer.
